Is it good to send letters of interest if you are on hold for re-review? I would send an update but I don't really have any... and want to show interest.

Pointless in my honest opinion. The secondary asked Why GW, that would show your interest in that school enough. Instead do something else to write up an update. Best of luck.

Sorry for coming in here with a second question so soon... what’s the difference between hold and re-review?
You don't typically get re-reviewed before being put on hold first. After their initial review of your app, GWU will either offer you an II, reject you, or place you on hold. Re-review just means they're looking at your app again.

I would say do it. I know it’s a different scenario because I interviewed but at the interview they were very clear in saying they are interested in updates and letters of interest. Best of luck!

Any current students who can speak to the availability of scholarships/aid? Interviewed today, and they seemed to paint a pretty bleak picture. Cost of attendance is no joke....

I’m a current MS1, and I love GW, but the cost is pretty extreme. There are some merit scholarships given out to exceptional applicants, but they are pretty far and few between. Some people go the military route, but that’s clearly not for everyone. You can apply for the NHSC for the potential of tuition coverage, but it’s a national scholarship so it’s super competitive. Honestly most people just have to take out a ton of loans, which sucks, a lot, but I think it will all be worth it in the end! Feel free to PM me or reach out to the financial aid office with any questions you may have!

how is the curriculum? P/F for preclinical, but what about internal rankings?
The curriculum is largely organ system based with the addition of a Practice of Medicine class and Patients, Populations, and Systems which is our clinical public health class. There are no internal rankings during the pre-clinical years. The only thing tied to rank is that if you’re in the top 1/3 of the class, there will be one sentence in your Dean’s letter saying you were top third, so ranking really is pretty non-existent which is really nice because it means our class isn’t competitive with each other.

People who got Rs, were you taken off of re-review and put back under review before you got the R? Or did your portal go straight from re-review/hold to R?

Nope I saw it in the portal
That’s so strange it said “under review” then you got the R? I’m so sorry!! So far, myself included, when it changes to under review you get an interview after. I was never put under review before my hold it went from complete to hold - then to under review - then to interview!

ii just now!

Was on hold day 1 of my application being complete in July (I believe there may have been a glitch or strange situation there, as it seemed very automated and definitely not enough time to have been reviewed). Sent an ITA a few weeks ago and came off hold soon thereafter.

Alternate Pool on October 23rd! Interviewed Sept. 26th--
If you have any questions, feel free to contact me!

Alternate list this morning. I interviewed 10/8.
3.65 GPA (2.4,3.9,3.9,3.9 yearly breakdown)
514 MCAT.

they won’t give me any information on my position on the list at all. Can someone please tell me how many people get accepted through the alternate list, how feasible ? How much hope should I put into this?

I have 5 interviews total

UCSD: waitlisted
EVMS: waitlisted
GW: waitlisted
Drexel: interview is tomorrow
VCU: interview is in February

I am not even sad I am numb at this point. I feel like a joke. 3 interviews so far and they all thought I was trash apparently. Pathetic.
dude, at least you have five interviews. I am here struggling with only one. When were you complete for GW, Drexel, and VCU?

I haven’t received any II yet from schools and been on hold from GW since I submitted my app mid oct. I’ve submitted like 10 updates now and still on hold for re-review. What chance would I have for my app to be rereviewed?? 🙁

They will review it. You paid money for it. However, GW does rolling admissions, so your chances of getting an interview is probably lower than someone who submitted early on unless your MCAT and GPA are stellar.

If you are on hold, you have already been reviewed. They will only re-review if they feel there is a need for them.

it's out of your control at this point (especially since you've submitted updates)!! find a way to distract yourself. I know some people from last cycle who didn't receive any interview invitations until January. and one of those people in particular ended up getting into 2 schools. stay positive! <3

Same for me but interviewed 10/22. Still feeling grateful though cause they reject 70% of the people they interview, so I'm just glad I haven

Have people reported post-II Rs here? Sorry, I haven’t been following the thread very closely.
