2019-2020 Georgetown

I am below their average and median stats but I believe that I align well with their mission ( managed to get an interview) and I hope that’s enough to get accepted. I also noticed from their interview schedule, they only have 85 interview days. If they interview 10 applicants per day that should mean they are interviewing 850 applicants. Assuming they accept 350 ( med schools accept more than their class). This leaves the odds of acceptance to 41%. Lets remain hopeful that we all get good news soon 🙂

that 350 might also include people who get accepted off WLs no?

I think Georgetown is known to WL a ton of applicants, but you can turn it into an A with a strong LOI

Yes, waitlisting is a possibility and with strong LOI, an acceptance can be achieved. Especially that some of us interviewed so early on (first week in which interviews were held) a waitlist is very possible!

Here's the spreadsheet that actually has these stats:

Last year those who interviewed early heard back 10/22... so seems like you could definitely find out earlier than 8 weeks
I interviewed last week, so I highly doubt I’ll be one of those, but that would be amazing.
for those who are wondering about interview experience, I personally loved mine. Everyone, from the students I met to the person who interviewed me, was wonderful and made me love Georgetown as a school. Yea, the facilities aren’t the greatest, but everything else more than made up for that in my opinion. Definitely not the school for everyone, but depending on what you’re hoping to get out of medical school, it can definitely be for you.

has nobody heard back at all?? not even august interviewees???

i know at some schools, your interviewer is not part of the committee who decides if you're accepted or not. but at Gtown im guessing they are since the thank you letter is added to your app (can anyone confirm)?

Uh not necessarily true.

Is there a best time to send Thank You letters post-interview? And does anyone know if the actual interviewer even reads them because it says it will get included with the application/portal for the adcoms to see.

For what it's worth, my interviewer said the majority of M4s participate in interviews and that they all volunteer to interview, I don't think they are in the committee

Also, my interviewer did tell me that he doesn't have access to my stats (MCAT and GPA) which means it is very likely that the interviewer is not in the Admissions Committee.

Hmm interesting. I had a physician interview me, and she told me that she had access to my application but chose not to look at it for the interview. Though if the M4s arent part of the process, I doubt the physicians are either.

Interviewed 8/22. Nothing yet. Has anyone received post-II decisions?

II!!! First of the cycle! Thought I was passed over already since I’ve been complete since 6/30. 3.78 gpa and 510 mcat for those interested.
Congrats! Are you IS or OOS?

Interviewing on 10/29! Any tips would be much appreciated!

Also so I've only had 1 other open file interview before and it was basically like the doc skimming through my application in front of me and being like "oh thats cool, tell me more about this..." Would you say gtown's approach to open file is similar to that? or is it more like yes we know your app, now please answer these ethical scenario/ situation questions..?
