AbsolutelyIs there still a chance for pre-II folks?
Business casual is the preferred dress. I wouldn’t go anything less. I wore khakis and a long sleeve dress shirthow formally did people dress for the open house / First Friday? is business casual okay?
That's what I noticed too when I went last month. It's a good networking opportunity.Just went to first Friday. It was a mix, but a lot of folks were dressed up like an interview. Not necessary though.

Congrats! What interview date did they give you? And stats?II last night!!
They gave two dates in March and one in April.Congrats! What interview date did they give you? And stats?
Yes!was the presenter at the open house Celia Williams-Fowlkes?
No movement. Interviewed the end of January🙁 Hopefully we hear back this week!anyone else interviewed late January still waiting to hear back?
It takes 2-3 weeksNo movement. Interviewed the end of January🙁 Hopefully we hear back this week!
Mine took a week after I interviewed. I think you'll be seeing less movement right now because people are holding on to their seats. They will def be giving out A's once people drop. Def expect movement in April. It takes 2-3 weeks

What day did you interview?I interviewed here in January and got an A. Here's what I learned: The committee meets every Thursday, but both your interviewers must turn in their paperwork before your file can be evaluated. Apparently, this can take up to 3 weeks for some committee members. So keep the faith...it's just a matter of time. Also, when I inquired, they've extended enough acceptances to fill a class, which is why things are slowing down. Folks will be added to the waitlist, and there is typically alot of movement off the waitlist as the AAMC traffic laws take effect and folks have to start committing to schools. Finally, I was told that there are ~8 more interview dates remaining, and that interviews usually run through early March.
no they interview until April I believe. If I haven't heard back from them for an interview invite at this time, should I consider this a rejection?

I think step 2 will become the new step 1Hey folks, what do you think about the new chage on USMLE step 1 being Pass/fail?
I think school prestige/ Ranking is becoming more important than ever before. I am rethinking about my med school choice.

Medical students need to stop looking down on DO. I have interviewed at both MD and DO and so far have been amazed by DO medical schools. Just to say we need to be less ignorant about these things. Just my 2 centsI feel as though you would only have an advantage, when it comes to prestige, if you’re going to a top 20 md school. This seems like it would only greatly hinder DO and foreign applicants, like someone else said. But I def do think that step 2, preceptor LOR, research and the organizations you’re in will have a bigger impact.
The point I'm trying to make is that smart people also go to DO. Is the look down from fellow med students (allopathic) which is bad. Like I mentioned, i have been to both MD and DO interviews and so far DO med schools have really amazed me. I have actually seen great stats from my fellow interviewees at my DO interviews just to mention that.I agree with this completely but unfortunately there are still program directors within certain specialties that do have a DO bias and the scored step was an opportunity for DO students to show they are just as good as MD, without a scored step these students may be at a greater disadvantage than b4

I believe you have heard the saying, "be the change you want to see in the world" why we talking about program directors when we can't even respect each other as medical students. Remember we are the future program directors..just saying and don't get me wrong I have been seen favorably by both DO and MD programs. I am not DO advocate. I wish to see a medical field that everyone is given their due respect and no one is looked down upon because of what is behind their names.I think you are missing her point. I do not think anyone is specifically saying in this thread that DO degrees are dishonorable or lesser than an MD (especially from an applicant perspective). She specifically points out that there is bias against DOs which can come from residency directors. You cannot control who is the residency director or ask an institution to change their views. When you become a physician and want to shake things up, then do it. She is only going off current information. Who knows things may change.
Hey, I've actually seen you on two of the threads I'm also on. I am actually rethinking my school choice as well since the STEP change. I think prestige should be the priority at this point. Yeah it sounds great to say that it won't make that big of a difference...but I think we all know that it will. Residency directors are going to use unconsciously use their bias when deciding who is chosen for a very limited amount of spots. Of course, not on purpose, but it will most definitely be happening. PM me if possible.. I'd love to talk more about itHey folks, what do you think about the new chage on USMLE step 1 being Pass/fail?
