2019-2020 NYU

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Nah... you think that. Then you get the R. The R turns out to feel much worse.
Sending *hugs*
Idk, last year, after being waitlisted on 3 schools for so long. I'd rather have had them tell me no sooner then just string me along. Otherwise, I could've planned my gap year better and prepared more

Alright, this was good prep for the Pitt death wave later this week. NYU was polite and gave us all a hold. Y’all ready to get a absolutely wrecked by Pitt?

Disclaimer: I am OMW to Pitt right now, just here for support (support NYU wave of gold with humor).

Clarify please, what's happening with Pitt this week?

Do you happen to remember the latest dates available for interviews
So I actually received my II at the end of August, at that time the last available date was Oct 15th.
Maybe someone who scheduled their interview more recently can update us?

Maybe NYU's free tuition policy is making them a lot more choosy in who they want to interview, especially because their yield is going to be so high. Purely conjecture, but I think we all have a shot at getting out of the pre II hold.
Confused, wouldn’t a high yield lead to lower likelihood to escaping hold status to II?

They are most likely choosing to focus on the "superstar" candidates and putting the average to above average applicants on hold. My guess is that they'll pull applicants from the hold group to fill out the rest of their class.

+2

I'm sure it's just a matter of every school has a different "ideal" medical student they are looking for. I've already gotten some rejections from places that stat-wise I thought were a much better fit for me than NYU. It's all a ****show from our perspective but everybody is lookin for something different

+1 for hold
Submitted early August, WARS 86. Hoping that us hold boys still have a shot, also have literally no other II's or R's yet oof

Hold today after II from Columbia last night..... oh well 🙁

Ok i know someone who got an ii here recently and just to put things into perspective. Their stats were 4.0, 526  So yeah! NYU median is going to be a little north of 525 next yr probbably

I didn’t apply here, but I’ve heard everyone has had a rough day. Chins up! You all are brilliant and amazing for even applying. You’ve got this! To those of you still in the running, congrats!

P.S. I don’t know if you know this, but NYU is free! My aunt just called to tell me! Who knew?!

Received this e-mail from NYU today.
"Though we are unable to offer you an interview at this time, please rest assured that we will continue to review your application throughout the remainder of the interview season. "

Soft R lol. Secondary complete 8/1.

Not a soft R at all. The fact that they are legit rejecting people tells me they are comfortable doing so. If they wanted to reject us they would have. Something is going to happen with these holds in a few weeks to months. I feel it in my tentacles.
