2019-2020 NYU

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
You arrive around 10 I think (make sure to eat breakfast before!) and there’s a brief rundown of the day, then you have presentations on the curriculum, then lunch with current students

The group then splits into two and one does tour then MMI, the other does MMI then tour. At the end of the day they have some closing remarks and info about admissions timeline
it's closed!
Thanks for the help guys. First MMI. Super nervous but fingers crossed it goes well!

I got put on hold on 9/16 (pre-II), but haven't heard anything since. I want to send them some updates since submission of my AMCAS and secondary, since I'm on my gap year and have some updates I think are valuable and others think are worth mentioning as well. Anyone know if they are positively receptive to update letters? Also, is it possible to combine an update letter and an ITA letter so I don't have to send them back to back messages? If so, how should the update+ITA letter be formatted? Thank you in advance!!!

Edit: Pre-II

They said they'd be receptive, but it might be too late. At least they told us early october folk that they’d start reviewing our file the next week and that once they begin review, it would be too late to give updates. Maybe if you get a WL you can? I think hold means they’re still in review

I may be misunderstanding your reply, but I think you’re interpreting my hold as in I’ve already interviewed. I haven’t interviewed yet, however, and wanted to send an update pre-II to maybe help supply some good updates for them to better assess my application. Would love to be on a WL but need that juicy II before 🙂

Yup i misunderstood! Thought you had a post interview hold!

Could anyone who has already interviewed share whether the traditional interview is double the time of an MMI station? Thanks!

Just posting this to add another data point for us neurotic premeds out there:
Hold to R today, LM: 72 (high GPA/low MCAT from T3 undergrad). Not surprised; just thankful for some closure at one of the schools I applied to. Good luck to everyone else!
your MCAT can't be that low if your LM is still 72? 511-513 range?

NYU SoM Admissions Twitter today congratulates those Acceptances from this past week. Any lucky SDNers?

Welp, I interviewed for mstp in September, but they accepted some October folk today. Guess I should brace myself for the R or WL

inb4 staircase

Honestly yeah. Some people come in needing only a psychopathy screen while others have to prove themselves. I am a firm believer that earlier interviews have an advantage not due to being early but because they’re already higher on the staircase. Also relates to my theory regarding how some schools sort applications into tiers or priority groups and then review higher priority (superstar apps) piles first.

ACCEPTED WITH A DEAN'S SCHOLARSHIP!!!!!!!!!!! Such a surreal feeling, I'm truly at a loss for words!!!!

(this happened on 11/1, last Friday, but I completely forgot to log on here lol)
congratulations. What is a DEAN's scholarship.
