2019-2020 Rush

II today! As a low-stat applicant, I didn't think I stood a chance, but I guess it goes to show you how much Rush cares about fit.

LM ~65-66, OOS.
+1 on all cylinders! I don'k know if I'll be able to make the interview or not, but I really dig what I've seen about the school so it's exciting.

Plus of all the Chicago schools they have what is in my opinion the best color scheme

Don’t have it on me but they gave us this info and I wanna say it was around 65%. Though they also told us a good amount of people will get active consideration/waitlist before an acceptance.

So just to clarify all of those that were placed on the waitlist... that is different than active consideration? And did anyone get active consideration from this round of decisions?

Sorry if this was already asked, but I was placed under active consideration today. Interviewed 11/6. What’s the difference between waitlist and AC?

Waitlist is a final decision — they will not be looked at until March.

Active consideration is a deferral and you will be given a final decision in late December. You could still be waitlisted but a lot of people on active consideration last year were accepted.

Hello! I was wondering how long the interview day took. It says 4pm but I feel like most interviews ended earlier than they said.
Im thinking of booking my flight back at 5:50pm on that day, I wasn't sure if that will be too tight.
Did anyone do the student hosting program?
Also, any tips or feedback from the interview day? Fun, welcoming vibe anyone?! What was the 10min interview like, is it more of casual conversation feel?
Thank you!

I used the student housing option. My host was great and lived super close to school. Even gave me a ride to campus! Highly recommended if you want to save some bucks

My day ended around 3:50-4:00 pm iirc, so pretty much on the dot.

Didn’t do student hosting but ready my earlier comments on this thread on how the vibe was and general comments on it!

Would not do the 5:50 flight. Cuts too close especially with Chicago traffic. Might barely make it if you’re flying out of Midway but doubt it for OHare.

Yes, I was placed on active consideration. I am still waiting to hear back (word is news will come before the holidays...) HOPEFULLY GOOD NEWS

II last week. app completed late July. got that "update" in September which tells you to sit tight (don't know if that helps anyone).

interview dates in both december and january so they don't schedule too far out. mine scheduled for less than a month from now. I only saw Wednesdays available.

OOS, really excited to visit Chicago!

Exactly the same for me! I declined my interview, though, so hopefully it goes to someone else!

Did you all send updates after receiving that email?

You're going to have a great time- Rush was the most packed interview schedule-wise, but among my favorite interview days. They call it "Recruitment Day" for a reason- they do an amazing job selling Rush, IMO.

Deep dish pizza for lunch was also legit 😉

Haha that’s why I haven’t. The only thing I have is more hours but that’s not gonna make a difference as I have thousands of them already.
Right — sending a lame update isn’t going to help and could only hurt. I think people don’t realize how turned off a reader can get by what they see as a waste of their time.

What kind of update did you send? Still windering if I should send them an update when I have been pretty much doing the same activities.
I was hesitant about sending an update too. I mentioned that I'm still doing the same activities, but for my full-time job, I started taking on a new project/role. And I helped plan a huge service event in my community. I talked about that and mentioned a handful of extra shadowing experiences that I didn't have room for in my primary (one of them is still ongoing). I wouldn't say that any of the stuff in my update letter was groundbreaking by any means, but some of the new projects have been (somewhat) significant.

This is definitely worthy of an update. Give yourself more credit that is some cool ****!

Anyone have any suggestions on how to improve chances of getting in post-II. I interviewed recently and I am waiting for the 2 week decision but if I get active consideration I definitely want to submit something to help my case. I already submitted one update in october which I am pretty sure helped me get the II in the first place so I am considering submitting another update (I've done a fair amount since october) as well a letter of interest/intent. I've interviewed at 3 other schools and this one is by far my favorite. Absolutely loved my visit.

Do you think it would be too much to submit an update as well as a letter of interest/intent? Or should I just combine the two? Do you think it would be appropriate to submit a letter of intent at this timeframe in the cycle?

Maybe just a handwritten thank you? I feel an update would seem a bit much, but that’s my opinion.
