2019-2020 TCU & UNTHSC

Not quite true.... the only decisions that are released on Fridays are for POST interview people. The next decision release date for those who have already interviewed is January 24. I don’t think II and Pre-II R’s come out on Fridays. I got my II on a Monday.

ETA: there are three decision that can come out of your interview at TCU. Accepted, Rejected or Hold. A hold means that at every committee meeting, they are still deciding whether or not to accept or reject you. You can be accepted or rejected during any of the scheduled release dates (with January 24 being the next). After all decisions have been released, which I believe is March 13, it is my understanding that they then create a waitlist. There is no such thing as a waitlist for them until that time.
Hey, I got no dog in this fight.
I saw someone post a pre-II rejection on Jan 3. Carry on and good luck to those still in the pipeline. Agree that there is no WL right now.

Are they staggering the pre-II rejections? Since it’s the end of the reason, I assume my application has been reviewed once but nothing yet.

Radio silence for me. Anyone know if they accept pre-II update letters?

It’s been discussed on here before and I *think* it’s on their website as well. They do not accept updates of any kind. I personally have called the office and asked an adcom and got the same answer both times. No updates.

For those who went to the social mixer, what was the dress code? Is a full suit overkill?

Just got the call!!!!! I can’t believe this!! After having actual hives all over my body from stress and panic about this cycle and having to potentially reapply I’m so so so freakin happy right now!!! Hang in there if you’re still waiting for the A, we’re all gonna be okay guys, keep believing ❤️

Got the acceptance call! Interviewed on 12/16 and was placed on hold on 1/3.

Congrats fam!! I can't wait to meet everyone.

To those who got accepted, how worried/concerned/confident are you about residency matching for TCU with it being pretty new?

Although TCU is a new medical school, their medical program is promising especially their longitudinal integrated clerkships and problem based learning which I believe will accelerate and optimize my learning experience which will subsequently help me perform well in the STEP exams. Some effort must be made by the students themselves because it is these exams that determine the residency a student could get into.

I think a small dose of concern is healthy for any med student attending a new school, however I think the amount of clinical experience and research acquired will set up the students to be strong applicants if they score well on board exams. I'm not too concerned, which is why I'm choosing TCU over other options that already have a long history of matching students into many different specialties.

First off a HUGE congratulations to all of the people with 'A's! You guys have worked very very hard to get where you are, also want to encourage all those who are still waiting for their phone calls - hang in there!. It just so happens, my daughter received her call on Friday - we couldn't be more thrilled for her. It is mine and my wife's intention to drive down to Texas from our home in Colorado to help her find a place and get settled in the week before Welcome Week. Does anybody know if TCU & UNTHSC will be having a "White Coat Ceremony"? If so, when would it be? We would definitely like to attend if possible.

Congrats to your daughter! I believe last years white coat ceremony was at the end of July.

Our medical school does host a White Coat Celebration. The date and time for the event will be released to accepted applicants soon!

Is it safe to say if you haven’t gotten an interview invite by now, you’re not getting one?

I’d give it till next Friday and if we don’t get an II, it’ll be time to move on

with the TMDSAS match that happened on Monday, it’s possible some people pulled their II. Keep your hopes up! It’s not over until it’s over 🙂
