2019-2020 Texas A&M

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
@FreeBird21 and other EnMed invitees

Day is truly from 8-5. Interviews do not start until 2 pm, so it is possible you could be scheduled all the way up until 5 for an interview. I know multiple people who had there last interview scheduled for 4 pm which means they did not finish until 4:30.

Thanks for the info!

Those who interviewed for ENMED - does anyone know if they give A&M admission first and then determine if you made it to ENMED or is it ENMED or bust?

So since you were specifically invited for EnMed they decide on you for that program, but if you aren’t selected for that group you are then in consideration for Texas A&M MD

Did they say that specifically? Texas schools start admitting on October 15th. It sounds like they sent out admissions for ENMED quite late for 2019.

As I recall there was a late burst of EnMed admissions in the 2018-2019 cycle, but there was also an early batch of 6 offers on 10/17. Special programs like this, MD/MBA, MD/MPH etc don't necessarily follow the normal Pre-Match offer timeline.

Yes, this came from the associate dean of admissions. This year notifications can start Oct 15 he said.

For EnMed interviewees, there were only typical interviews right? No SPE’s? The email didn’t mention those anyway

My post got taken down by the admin. If you want info on Texas A&M med school DM me.

Hi everyone! I just wanted to say dcross is NOT an EnMed student and there is no indication that A&M will be put on probation. I can address more concerns later but DM me if you have any questions. A lot of us are passionate about this program and want to answer any questions you all have.

Happy interview season!!

Hi guys,

I wanted to give my two cents about comments made by dcross. I am not sure who he or she is, but I am pretty sure they are not a current student in EnMed.

1) I am a current EnMed student.
2) We were all taking tests today at 8 AM - 4 PM. Which makes me believe dcross is not a current student due to the timestamp on his or her most recent post.

Like I said, I am a current student. Yes we are a new program and there have been growing pains associated with being a new program as @texasvandy mentioned, but many of dcross' statements were outright false.

All of us were studying when we saw dcross' original post and unanimously agreed that what was said was not true.

We just finished our exams and are free to discuss any concerns you have. Feel free to DM me. I know all of my classmates will be happy to defend our program or address any concerns dcross’s post may have brought up.

Hi, I tried to message you and I can’t. Could you DM me?

Also a current student in the EnMed program. Happy to answer any questions or share more information about the program.

Good luck with applications and interviews!

as if it never existed. sorry to hear how it is going there for you.
I have seen other posts critical of other new programs in Texas in the past (Rio). Kind of surprised it was removed.

It wasn’t removed. Mods can see what actions are done on threads. @dcross made a long post on Thursday at 2:04pm that outlined a lot of criticisms. He then deleted his own post at 11:02pm on that same day and then posted that it was removed.

We do not remove posts that are critical of schools unless they contain inappropriate language or violate TOS. In the past, we have even just removed the inappropriate content and let the rest of the post stand.

Makes sense. I was kind of surprised by the poster's claim that it was removed since it seemed quite critical but not the kind moderators took down. It is sort of unethical for the poster to have blamed the site.

I have seen posts removed if they were very negative and irrational and at the same time made by someone who created the account the same day. Those were usually spam or a banned member trying to create a new name. This post was neither.
I thought dcross's post, while critical, was pretty specific and logical which indicated to me that they were indeed a student of the program.

Right. Like I said, we try not to delete posts unless the post violates TOS, both of which those things do.

I think you might have misunderstood me. His post was not removed. He deleted it himself and then claimed we removed it.

I understood your explanation, and believe you that he deleted his own pst now. I was more confused by the fact that 2 more new accounts were created that day to refute his statements, another unusual pattern. Those newbies do respond to PMs

It is possible they have other accounts and created these to remain anonymous.

Oh I see what you are saying. I'm not sure about that. It seems most schools that interview for specialty programs still consider you for just MD if you do not get into the program.

This is correct. If you apply for EnMed, you are applying for traditional MD as well. If you are not accepted for EnMed, you are still considered for the traditional MD.

Does the interview day here actually end at 5 or are most people done before?
