I interviewed August and didn’t get in the first prematch wave but I did get in the second wave so my guess is every time there’s an upcoming wave they consider every applicant from the first interview date up until the most recent one

The prematches from earlier in this cycle were early in the morning (several ppl said 8:53am CT in the last one on 11/5 and at 1 am for the first wave) so fingers crossed, you’re right about an afternoon wave!

Ever since that happened Ive been checking my TMDSAS religiously

I called last week and the Admissions office said it’s not up to their Admissions Office, it’s up to the Admissions Committee so they didn’t know if there would be another wave. :shrug:

Someone can call this week to see if there is an update though?

Since we haven’t heard anything yet, I don’t think there will be one at this point. They’ve announced two waves in previous years and they’ve done three waves (edited to add the waves 10/15, 11/5 and 11/22) this year already. It just started earlier with TMDSAS extending the pre-match period from October to December instead of November to December.

When was the first wave for this cycle? I'm only familiar with the November one.

They send a lot of prematches but (and I could be very wrong) I feel like it will be a good mix of prematches and match day students. From what I see on SDN school x vs y, a lot of people who prematch choose other schools bc of location or other things they don’t like about the curriculum which come match day will open up a lot of seats. Now personally, after visiting UTMB multiple times outside of interview day and talking with med students outside of the interview day, I believe the concerns that some students use as cons are not cons (like PBL and the curriculum) at all and they usually don’t mention a huge lists of pros UTMB offers. I made a list of these pros on the main “Republic of Texas” thread. Again, I could be very wrong about this assumption but I feel like students who identify very well w UTMB and have really looked into their positives will end up here and those who have overlooked UTMB for other reasons will open up seats on match day. I could also be looking at UTMB with nothing but positives bc I’ve fallen in love w the school so there’s that lol.
 
There are many people with multiple admissions to Texas schools. There was someone who attended 7 interviews and has 6 admissions (they are waiting on Baylor which is not even in TMDSAS). This person has to rank and retain one school on 17th which means 5 spots are released in five different schools, possibly even UTMB. Unless UTMB already admitted 400 people, they will have many spots opening up after 17th that will go into match.
 
Congrats to those that prematched! Are any of you guys planning to rank UTMB #1?
