Interviewing this week! Any advice aside from checking out the SDN interview feedback?

Brush up on your research. Both interviewers asked me about it and one of them was a specialist in my field so he REALLY understood what we were doing. I can’t say enough good things about my experience. Both interviews were low key and conversational. One applicant interviewed with one of my interviewers and felt “beat up” where I thought it was the easiest yet. The big difference was our research experience and preparation to discuss it.

Just got off the phone with admissions about the to-do list that we needed to mail in.
White coat and TDCJ packet can be mailed together, Field house form needs to be mail separate, and student disabilities form does not need to be filled out at all. And the Soft deadline is two weeks after you receive your physical mail acceptance. They will call and send reminders if you are approaching the date.

Has anyone been prematched after having a really good, relaxed interview and another which was stressful and not too great?
I'm not sure how the two interviews are weighted compared to your application overall

(I have a slightly lower than average GPA but a higher than average MCAT if anyone got prematched with similar situation)

I also had one really relaxed interview, then my second one was very intense. At the end, my interviewer strongly hinted that it was deliberate.

Similar case here. My first interview was relatively intense, and my interviewer picked apart my application, questioning every time interval and activity I had inputted. It felt like he didn’t trust the information I had provided. In my head I was a little like ??? but I remained calm and just explained everything he asked/wanted clarification on.

Second interview went swimmingly well! And then I prematched 11/5.

So to everyone with an interview coming up, don’t let the “stress” interview throw you off! Remain calm, and answer with poise. 🙂

Late response, but I prematched here on Oct 15 (Interviewed 8/2/19). MCAT 513, GPA 3.9.

I felt like I had one really awkward interview and one decent / relaxed interview. Not sure if it was deliberate, but I wouldn’t say it felt “stressed”, just didn’t feel like it went as well as it could have.

Congrats on your prematch!! I had a very similar interview situation and the same MCAT but a slightly lower GPA, so that gives me hope that I can still prematch 🙂

I was looking at apartments around the area to compare prices, and I’m finding many unfurnished apartments. Are there any furnished apartment complexes near the school anyone would recommend?

unsure but there's a place called RCC home store on 23rd st. they sell antique furniture that's been donated, it's really cheap too and they deliver. I furnished most of my house from there for pretty cheap.

Thank you! I may do that

I am getting ready to send my transcripts to UTMB. Their website states to use the SPEEDE system for schools that are participating in this electronic transcript system. The school I attended does participate in speede, but when I try to send the transcript, there is a required space to fill for "recipient email". Does anyone know which particular UTMB email address to use for this? I called the admission office but cant get a hold of anyone.

Has anyone who prematched in the second round not yet receive the physical copy?

is there still going to be another prematch wave? interviewed here at the beginning of november and thought it went well so really hoping for a prematch! loved the school a lot!

Second this! Interviewed here too and loved it. Hoping for a prematch wave before the sem ends.

For current students, how does health insurance work for utmb students? Do we have to automatically purchase school insurance? If so how much does it cost? Or do we just have to show proof that we have coverage? Thank you!

Show proof if you have coverage. Most policies will let you stay on parents policy until you turn 26. School policy is Blue Cross/Blue Shield

Ill be getting kicked off bc of the age limit during my first school year so I wonder if I should even apply for the health care marketplace insurance like I always have or wait until I pay for the schools insurance

Simpler to buy from the school, I would say. And when you switch over notify your parents of the active date so they know, in case it will save them $$ to take you off their policy.
