Please help! For the "academic discrepancies or extenuating circumstances" prom. I'm thinking about one of the two topics or should I mentioned both of them?

1) Talk about why it took me 6 years to finish undergrad (international student starting at community college while waiting for instate paperwork, 1 year in science major at a university then transferred to engineering major for 3 years (fall, spring courses offered only so I could not take more courses in a semester to finish early)

2) BCPM GPA: 3.84 is lower than Non-BCPM GPA: 3.97. Mainly because I took many science courses when I just transferred to the university and struggled a little bit with 2 part-time jobs. After that, I took all engineering courses so there was no way for me to pull science GPA up.

Thanks!

yes on 1 but i would n't make a big deal about 2. 3.84 is a good GPA. If you have a C or something, those need to be justified.

I Q dropped a course pretty early in the semester then retook the course later and got an A. Would this be worth noting as an academic discrepancy for the secondary?

FWIW, I interviewed here last cycle with a lower GPA (my sGPA was also .10 lower than cGPA) and graduated in 6 years as well. Didn’t mention anything in the academic discrepancies prompt, so ‍♂️.

For those saying these are automatic interviews because of high stats, I have a 4.0 on TMDSAS, 520 MCAT, and no interview invite. I am OOS, though, but I believe some of those posting are as well. If you've gotten an II, you must be doing something else right, too! (yes I'm crying a little bit)

With those numbers, you will get a II. it does not have to be week 1.

I really hope so! Do they just send II to all applicants with these kind of numbers? Or does it mean they're actually interested in you if that makes sense?
Although I guess if they're sending you an II then they are interested...but hopefully you get what I mean lol
Also, does it mean anything if you don't get an II in the first wave? Like are they perhaps less interested in you then? (I was fully submitted by around May 17th btw)

They only have about 20 or fewer seats for OOS which can make a difference in how many they can interview. I see 97 were interviewed per last MSAR but out of 37 who are listed as matriculating, 10 are MD/PhD who don't count for the 10% OOS rule.

They finish the OOS interviews quickly since the offers are made by October 15th (?). So keep your fingers crossed. If you were in state, there is almost no way an interview would not have been offered with those stats but I am not very clear how competitive the OOS pool is.

Also got an II this afternoon! In-state. LM 75. I am semi-non-trad (only been out 3 years)

Also got an II this afternoon. Has anyone received a confirmation email after selecting a date?

Received an II as well! Does anyone have any advice on how to schedule interviews efficiently (trying to minimize number of flights, especially to TX)?

What are people's thoughts of the Friday Rounds/Student Presentations...I could save money by not doing this and I know how rounds work since I've shadowed residents/attendings? Could current students chime in? This is optional right?

Yes it is optional.

II for regular MD today, but I applied both MD only and MSTP. If I schedule my interview date and am subsequently invited for MSTP, will I have to go for both dates?

Received II today; Are the Fridays sessions "optional" or should I really try to make them?

For those that got invites today, would you guys mind sharing stats?

Would anyone sharing what month and day of the week these interviews are (especially out of state peeps)? I already have 2 TX II that are on Friday’s. Would love to squeeze this one into the same trip as one of them

Not needed but it was an amazing experience when I interviewed here last cycle. You get to round with med students and residents, free breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The dinner is before a Q&A with med students. Also, my brother came with me and he was blown away.

I highly recommend everyone go to the Friday session if you can.

Sucks I didn’t match to UTSW but it was a privilege to interview there.

I got a II yesterday!! I got interview invites for August, September, and October. Are you supposed to sign up for an interview date ASAP? Because I checked today, and only the October date is available...I literally waited less than 24 hours and both August and September are gone..

Also, do y'all think October is a late interview date?

For OOS may be, for instate no since first admissions for Instate are on November 15th.
