I'm IS...wait i thought offers of admission start October 15
Texas instate pre-match offers can happen anywhere from Oct 15 to Dec 31. Remember also that a Texan can Match (in February) even without having received any pre-match offers.
The first day for pre-match offers used to be Nov 15th, but this year has been shifted to October 15th.

Wow, that is a big change. Not sure why they moved instate date.

Not sure either, especially since October is in the middle of Texas interview season. Maybe because OOS folks have always been able to get offers starting Oct 15th and Texans previously not until November 15th.

Seems like it's even more important now to interview early as spots will get filled up even quicker Really nerve-wracking...quit my career to take a chance in medicine so hoping for more love from Texas schools!

Don't panic about this - some superstars do collect more than one pre-match offer, but can come out of Match Day with only 1 school just the same as those with one or zero pre-match offers. Interview season carries on to December or January depending on the school's scheduling.

I got a II yesterday!! I got interview invites for August, September, and October. Are you supposed to sign up for an interview date ASAP? Because I checked today, and only the October date is available...I literally waited less than 24 hours and both August and September are gone..

Also, do y'all think October is a late interview date?
August is open again!

Since they have rolling admissions, is it better to schedule ASAP? So August 24 vs. say October 24?

IS, secondary submitted 7/21, II received 7/23, cGPA at their median, MCAT above

I signed up for the October interview date because I had the same issue of the Aug and Sept dates disappearing before I got home from work. I'm sure early is better, but I'm not going to worry about it. Nothing you can do if the dates aren't available anymore ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

3 day turnaround??

Congrats by the way!

Haha, glad I could help! They were my first submitted secondary, so don't feel too bad. But get on it!

And thanks! I absolutely couldn't believe it! Kinda wonder if they really read my essays lol

what were your stats if you dont mind me asking

i'm 3.76/3.74/520 so I'm not sure if i'll hit their metrics for "ultra high stat" candidates and get a quick interview

You'll definitely get an automatic interview. Don't sweat it. Instead, focus on finishing your secondary

I'm an OoS re-applicant. high MCAT, low GPA (I presume I was an auto-interview, but that's pure speculation)

Fwiw, here's my timeline from last year (2018-2019):
late-June - TMDSAS app transmitted to schools
mid-July - secondary app submitted to UTSW
late-July - UTSW confirms secondary app complete/under review
late-August - invited to interview
mid-November - interview (this was the earliest available date)
mid-February - UTSW says I'm on the alternate list
late-February - I sent UTSW a letter of intent
early-April - UTSW says I'm still on the alternate list

This year (2019-2020):
mid-June - TMDSAS app transmitted
late-June - secondary app submitted to UTSW/UTSW confirms complete same day

So you're still on the alternate list for this fall?

Have you considered other Texas schools. I suspect 70 LM is a bit low for OOS at UTSW.

II!!! I am so excited. Earliest interviews are in mid October, I’m assuming August/September filled up already? A bit surprising.

Interview dates are randomly opening up. Just moved from October 26 -> September 21st.

Anyone make not of UTSW interviewing around 675 applicants while in years past they used to interview ~950? Does this mean the post ii acceptance rate is higher? Also any idea what the post ii acceptance rate is?

If I submit my secondaries (prewrite) and letters of recommendation late Aug (that's the time when my primary will prob be verified), will I still have a running chance for UTSW? When will my interview date most likely be in this scenario given how October is already filled or filling up?

Just curious, where did you find that it's usually 950? If that is the case it makes sense that the acceptance rate after interviews is higher

What is your MCAT/GPA? Also, are you IS or OOS?
UTSW doesn't wait for LOR before sending an II if your stats are high, otherwise you will need your letters in for them to consider your application

You are submitting pretty late which does reduce your chances, but if you were to get an II here, it would probably be Nov/Dec.
Make sure to pre-write your secondaries so you can submit them ASAP once you're transmitted

If you're an exceptional applicant with great stats, I'd wager you have a fighting chance. If you're an average applicant with decent stats, your chances would greatly increase by applying earlier next cycle.

Im an IS with 3.8 and 511, so average stats for utsw, should i email them for a secondary?

Or does a secondary come after they verified ur primary? According to their website, i think they send in the secondary after ur app has been transmitted to them

Read this page on TMDSAS site. UTSW will look at your primary first and then might send you a link to secondary. When did you submit your primary TMDSAS app?

I sent it on the july 23rd, and havent received anything yet
follow @TMDSASSupport on Twitter to see where they are with verification of primaries. Every weekday they post where they stand.
On July 25 they said they were working on apps submitted July 10, so looks like a 2+ week wait for you until your app is verified.
Watch for an email from TMDSAS, you will have 7 days to look at the final version and tell them if there are any discrepancies.

Your MCAT is 10th percentile at UTSW, your GPA is around average

You should receive the secondary once your application is transmitted to all the schools. You'll probably be transmitted in about 2 weeks.

I know a friend who submitted last cycle in late July and was verified by the end of the first week in August. They had a 52X and 3.9 but they're re-applying this cycle because they didn't get in. Obviously n=1. Best of luck to you!

When you click "Cancel/Modify interview date", do you lose your current interview spot?
Yes, it's a gamble. If you're quick about it you have a low chance of losing your spot.

So if you look at this link where someone compiled interview data:
This says UTSW interviews over a thousand but MSAR says they only interview around 650, anyone have any idea if they have recently started being slightly more selective with their interviews?

You should probably use MSAR since that's up to date and more official. No idea how old that document is and when it was last updated.

UTSW interviewed a total of 774 people, out of which 677 were TX residents and 97 were OOS.
193 IS matriculated and 37 OOS matriculated.

They don't tell us how many offers were given but we can assume 1.5 (to maybe 2) times the class size of 230

"someone compiled this"
I agree with using valid sources like MSAR or AAMC data tables.

uh wtf. did they just blowoff essays or what? submitting late july isn't super late by any means. that's crazy

I'm IS, MCAT: 517, GPA 4.0, submitted TMDSAS end of June, secondaries submitted 7/25, no response yet. Any chance I'm auto interview? Kind of nervous since it's been some time, and I've seen folks getting 2 day turnarounds.

I'm pretty sure you'll be fine. Give it some time - it's only been 5 days.

They took a bit longer than 5 days for my invite but my TMDSAS stats of 3.96/517 were an auto-interview (at least I am pretty sure). You should be fine.

is southwestern the only school that does these autointerviews for high stats candidates?

I’ve heard UChicago too
Auto interview in UTSW means something different. They have not read your application yet but based on certain numbers related to GPA and MCAT they trigger an interview. Only other school that might fit this category is Michigan. They posted yesterday that they might call people for interviews despite not receiving LORs.
