Thank you!!1. Describe the type of research you are currently most interested in pursuing for your PhD training. You can be general or specific (e.g., genetics, biochemistry, Alzheimer’s disease, rational drug design, etc.)
2. If you wish, please describe major hardships or adversity you have overcome to reach this point in your life (if none, please state “none”).
3. List names of up to five UT Southwestern faculty whose research is of particular interest to you (refer to www.utsouthwestern.edu/labs for more information).
4. Why are you interested in MD/PhD training at UT Southwestern in particular?
When did TMDSAS transmit your app? Congrats!Literally in tears right now! Just got an II! Submitted secondary on 7/24. Below their stats, but I feel I have had some interesting experiences that came through in my essays.
When did TMDSAS transmit your app? Congrats!
Do you mind sharing your stats? Thanks! Transmitted 7/10 but didn’t have a complete primary until 7/16 when I got my MCAT score.
Your stats are quite good. Have you gotten other interviews?Should I be concerned that I haven't received an II?? Application complete 7/9.

3.93/3.85/515 : cGPA/sGPA/MCAT
Thanks. I have interviews at Tech-Lubbock and UTMB so far.Your stats are quite good. Have you gotten other interviews?

Focus on those. You need good practice interviews before you get to the big one.Thanks. I have gotten interviews at Tech-Lubbock and UTMB so far.
Fair enough. Just impatient to know whether I even have a shot at "the big one".Focus on those. You need good practice interviews before you get to the big one.
Yes. If others have called you for an interview already, that means your application is good beyond the stats.Fair enough. Just impatient to know whether I even have a shot at "the big one".
Congrats on the IIs, when did TMDSAS transmit your app? Thanks. I have interviews at Tech-Lubbock and UTMB so far.
They are great if you are OOS. They essentially give you 1k scholarship which enables them to make the student instate for tuition.I have heard great things about the scholarships that UTSW hands out to students. Does anyone know if there is more information about how many are given? I couldn't find financial aid info other than how many receive loans & FA.
1k or 10k?They are great if you are OOS. They essentially give you 1k scholarship which enables them to make the student instate for tuition.
There is some kind of a TX state rule that says if a student is given 1k scholarship, they are eligible for instate tuition. This applies not just to medical schools. So two schools that I know of offer this to all OOS students - UTSW and UT Houston. Effectively you can see that it becomes 14k since there is a 1k +13k difference.1k or 10k?

What are the character limits for the MD-PhD prompts? Thanks again!1. Describe the type of research you are currently most interested in pursuing for your PhD training. You can be general or specific (e.g., genetics, biochemistry, Alzheimer’s disease, rational drug design, etc.)

Were these the only prompts for MD/PhD applicants, or are these in addition to the MD prompts?
Thanks!@jlabomba All 500 Characters except list faculty which gives 5 individual blanks to list names.
From what you remember, are the interviews pretty intense or more chill? Also, how do you like living in Dallas?Current MS3 (!!!! can't believe it, feels like yesterday I was applying!) here, happy to answer any questions about UTSW either here or through PM. 🙂 Good luck with the app cycle, everyone!

LM 77.4stats?
Submitted around July 10~ ..... but I am OOS .... anyone get an interview from OOS since that date?
hey bro, it is me from that other site. static here too but UTSW is a reach school for meSame, I feel like we got passed up. Should I give up all hope or is there a chance they will revisit older apps?
Texas also loves high GPAs so all in all I say you have had a great amount of interest from Texas schools!I'm a little worried because I was hoping I would fall into their high stat category (520, 3.73 total GPA, 3.64 sGPA) and I have four ii's from other Texas schools (in state) so I assume the rest of my application can't be total garbage (I also have 1000+ hours of research). I was complete June 4, should I give up hope on UTSW?
I think their Auto starts at 75 or more and/or specific minimums for GPA and MCAT.I'm a little worried because I was hoping I would fall into their high stat category (520, 3.73 total GPA, 3.64 sGPA) and I have four ii's from other Texas schools (in state) so I assume the rest of my application can't be total garbage (I also have 1000+ hours of research). Do you have a source for this?I think their Auto starts at 75 or more and/or specific minimums for GPA and MCAT.
We are working on a process of elimination.Do you have a source for this?
I didn’t get an auto call. I have a 516 and 3.99 gpa; in other words my LM is 75 and some change. We are working on a process of elimination.
1. Someone close to 75 and didn't get the expected auto call.
2. Other choice is that it is lower than 75 but the person's GPA or MCAT did not meet the minimum thresholds (3.8 and 516?)
Edit: student profile says 3.84 GPA and 515 MCAT.
I didn’t get an auto call. I have a 516 and 3.99 gpa; in other words my LM is 75 and some change.
Then again, I’m oos so who knows what that does to the process.
Agree. I dont believe OOS and IS have same auto numbers.the auto calls are for Instate only
OOS a 3.99/516 is prob average for SW OOS (assuming higher than high MCAT is worth more than higher than high GPA and I think their OOS MCAT average is close to 518)
Agree. I dont believe OOS and IS have same auto numbers.
Same exact stats and situation, I feel for you broI didn’t get an auto call. I have a 516 and 3.99 gpa; in other words my LM is 75 and some change.
Then again, I’m oos so who knows what that does to the process.
