Can I get some insight into scholarships from current students? Were you contacted through email with offers before match day or did everyone have to rely on fafsa? If you feel comfortable sharing, how significant were these offers?

A big congratulations! Wishing you all the best with the interview!

Sorry to be that guy but may I ask your completion date? I've gotten that feeling that time is running out for UTSW II distributions!!!!! D:
Thank you very much. And no worries, I completely understand. I thought my chances with UTSW were entirely over because it seemed like time was running out.
I was complete 7/9. LM 74

Also, congrats on the acceptance!

Thanks! Good to hear you got some love with UTSW!

Congrats on all those accepted!!

First time posting here, but I interviewed here last week (10/12)...Does anyone know how they're going to do prematches with the 10/15 prematch day this year? Just want to know if I should expect anything anytime soon :/ I'm IS, LizzyM 75.

We got an email from the admin about contacting accepted applicants stating:

"Please note, we will be extending offers going forward on a rolling basis, so you may receive additional candidates to reach out to in the coming weeks/months."

I don't know how helpful that is! But it at least confirms there will be more prematches coming.

I can only keep hoping...plz let me in utsw adcomm!

What do the interview dates offered mean (if anything)? Seems like people are getting dates for january, others december, and some november even though they are all receiving interview invites around the same time. Does an earlier interview slot offered reflect competitiveness?

An earlier slot probably means someone rescheduled or canceled an interview, at this stage in the cycle.
Schools will want to fill each interview date to the capacity they have chosen.

My advice would be to take a date that you can reasonably attend at the earlier range. Putting it off may be more expensive for you in a few ways:
1. You don't want it to interfere with studying for final exams. Or taking them- few profs will allow taking a final on a different date.
2. You don't want to hit holiday pricing for flights and hotels.
3. Towards the last few interview dates you may get very short notice from a school - making a flight more expensive because you may be inside the 2-week window where prices are higher.

Curious if UTSW is receptive to in the area emails for interviews? I’m a Texas resident but out of state temporarily and have to fly to Texas multiple times in the coming months for Friday interviews. Ideally would be able to combine interviews on the same weekend. Could this work or should I wait to see if I get invited first?

Wait til invited then you might be able to do a Saturday after your other Friday. But all the other TX schools are far from Dallas !

Thank you so much, this does give me some relief.

If I accept the prematch offer, is that committing to attend next fall? I want to hold this offer without the risk of losing it, but I want to wait to hear back from other schools.

You can accept any number of offers now and they are non-binding. You will rank your favorites and come out of Match Day with one school Feb 3.
If you do not match to your #1 choice, you may stay on Wait Lists for schools you had ranked higher.

Hey we need the comedic effect sometimes

It was a bit comical, but also sort of bratty for lack of a better term. I’m sure you had great stats, a great app, and worked hard the last few years for a school like Baylor to invite you to an interview. Just know that there are tons of people here that would be thrilled to interview at the least prestigious medical school in the country, much less whine about not getting any love from UTSW after interviewing at Baylor and I presume many other schools in Texas.

I'm OOS and secondary completed September 10. Should I just not expect an interview invite? I feel like everybody getting one is instate or submitted crazy early with amazing stats. Just trying to understand TX application process, it's so different from other places!

UTSW is kind of running out of interview dates. They need to complete by January 17th in order to be able to be ranked and they only seem to have one date in January left (not sure if it is already filled up).

From TMDSAS statistics, you put yourself at a huge disadvantage by submitting late. I’m an in state applicant in the same boat. I doubt my app was even viewed, much less given full consideration that the thousands of applications they received earlier in the cycle did.

Well dang. That's a bummer... but good to know in case I have to apply again next year that earlier is better with TX! I thought September would still be early lol.
Hopefully we'll get lucky anyways... thanks for the insight!

How’re my fellow OOS’ers waiting on acceptance news doing? Does anyone know fin UTSW has given R’s or waitlists to any of us yet? I’m still just waiting nervously. Interviewed pretty early on in late August.

There's still hope! I submitted in August and heard back in September for an interview in November. Keep your fingers crossed!

September is late to be complete at any school, but the TMDSAS application opens earlier (May vs. June for AMCAS) so it's imperative to be early in Texas. Some TMDSAS schools even begin interviewing in July and all wrap up interviews by early January. Wishing you luck this cycle though!

I’m participating in the morning clinical rounds and the afternoon program tomorrow! I plan on wearing a business professional suit similar to my interview suit - Is this okay? Just want to make sure I’m not overdressed

Suit is required for morning rounds so you’re good.

Interviewed 10/26. Since prematch began 10/15, when should I hear from UTSW? MCAT 516. GPA 4.00.

If the school is following a similar pattern as previous years, the earliest you could hear is middle of next month or middle of December. There is usually one batch of prematches in each month. If not those dates, then you'll have to wait until the match in early Feb

Nevermind!
