can anyone tell me if they paid before they submitted the page with the supplemental essays on it, or afterwards? I didn't see a place to pay on this page and submitted and now I don't see anywhere to pay the $120, but when I look at my status it says the application fee is paid (though the supplemental itself is pending)...any idea what might have happened? I emailed the admissions dept and all they told me was "the portal is working"

Right under the "Submit and Continue" button, there are two buttons for "Pay by Credit Card" and "Pay by AAMC Waiver." The submit button should have been unclickable until you paid by card or marked that you were submitting a fee waiver. Could you have accidentally hit the "Pay by AAMC Waiver" button? That might have let you submit, but then your app won't be complete until they receive the waiver or reverse it.

Did you hear back from admissions on this one? I also have a committee letter without a letter packet and had 4 other letters sent separately.

Hey sorry for the late response. I did hear back after a few days and they simply restated the requirements on their website. So committee letter OR 2-4 individual letters. I ended up just sending the committee letter since that was preferred.

Has anyone else not received a secondary? My primary was verified last week and I have heard back from most of my other schools.
I got mine within 10 days of primary verification. You still have few more days.

Does anyone know if the "inconsistencies in grades and MCAT" question is optional?

Does anyone know if the "inconsistencies in grades and MCAT" question is optional? I am an MCAT retaker with an upward trend, grades don't have any major inconsistencies. I could write about the MCAT but not really sure what to dig into aside from how I improved.
I'm in the same situation. MCAT retaker and improved significantly. I'm just gonna talk about that.

Pretty sure it's optional.

did anyone refer to covid as an epidemic the same way they did in the prompt? a pandemic is a type of epidemic so i just ended up going with epidemic....

I didn't even notice there was a finalize button lmao I just submitted it

AMCAS was verified 8/21 still waiting on secondary,
do they screen? If so do you know for what? (i.e MCAT, GPA, Mission)
Also does anyone know if they care about state ties ? or take it into consideration

it took ~10 days from when I was verified to when I received the secondary

Albany does not screen; they send secondaries to all U.S. citizens and permanent residents. They seem to send out secondaries in batches so expect ~2 week delay from the date you were verified.

They are a private medical school so they don't have a OOS % cap like a public school might. According to MSAR, their first year class is 71% OOS so I would not image they place much emphasis on state residency.

Anyone else having a hard time contacting their admissions office? Sent two emails requesting clarification from them and have heard nothing back...at this rate I'm going to call next week but it seems very unusual for them to just ignore a prospective applicant. any of yall have this experience?

they never responded to my emails either...it is much easier to reach out via phone, they always answered my calls

Clarification : Albany is Private right?
Albany does not fall under SUNY, correct??

If applicable, please use the space below to explain any ways in which your ability to meet the course prerequisite requirements were impacted by COVID-19. (1000 characters)

is this where we can discuss MCAT cancellations or strictly issues prereq classes?

I interpreted the question to apply only to pre-requisite course setbacks/challenges imposed by COVID-19. If you feel that a MCAT cancellation uniquely impacted your application in a way that many other applicants did not also experience, I’d recommend calling the Admissions office, explaining your situation and seeing where they feel it would be best to include that information (i.e. secondary, mention in interviews, send letter that gets added to your file if they allow that, etc). This way you can make sure your situation gets fully considered without possibly being penalized by straying too far from what that specific questions seems to be asking.

Yeah I think I will contact them about it. thank you!

Once the status for "Application complete and ready for review by our Admissions Committee" is marked as yes, does that my application is complete?

If you have clicked the "finalize" button on the application status page, then your application is complete and in the queue to be reviewed. Albany does not send a complete email, but you can always call or email to confirm the status of your application.

Anyone mind reading my "Describe yourself" essay? 🙂 took a weird route but I think its ok? This question is wild to answer in 1000 characters

The exact same thing happened to me! I submitted but there wasn’t an option to pay...and now I can’t find anywhere to pay on the portal.

Anyone one know how long does it usually take for my pending status to go to “yes” after submitting? Need to remember to finalize lol

Might be a tech issue on their end, i just called them and they said the website should have never let you submit it in the first place without paying. I gave them my amcas number and they opened a ticket with IT.
They did the same for me. Did you ever hear back?
