2020-2021 Arizona - Phoenix

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
anyone else IS who hasn't had an interview invite yet? I completed VITA with an invite from another school so hoping this school sees it but feeling discouraged with no interview invite from UACOM Phoenix :/
Phoenix won't see it unless they specifically request it. If that happens, you will get an email directly from the COM. Over the past 4 years, they interviewed an average of just 200/811 (24.7%) IS applicants, so most people don't even get an II. Fortunately, they've only given out 89 IS II, so you still have good odds of getting one!

10/6 VAVD, got deferred to 12/7 today.

Is deferred essentially UA-P's version of a waitlist? Any successes of earlier deferred applicants getting acceptances today, or statistics in general of how many deferred applicants get offers eventually?

I think it’s less of a waitlist and more of a “we want to see if anyone else better is coming down the pipeline, so we’re keeping you around to make decisions once we have more people to compare you against.” According to current students, tons of people in their class got in at various points in the cycle after being deferred. From reading last year’s thread on SDN, it seems like the majority of deferred people didn’t hear anything until around February or March (at which point the adcom could presumably compare them against their entire interviewed applicant pool). On the last decision day, it seemed to be a mixed bag of deferrals turning into As, Rs, and Ws.

thanks for the reply. So essentially, we should expect to hear deferrals after deferrals until March? lol

Not necessarily! Obviously I’m also just an applicant so I have no idea how the adcom works, and lots of current students at UA Phoenix said that they had friends whose deferrals turned into As throughout the year. But based purely on last year’s SDN thread, I’m mentally prepping for March lol

Just found these updated statistics...

should I even submit my secondary now or is it too late? Thought I submitted a while back ago but turn out there was a glitch which resulted my secondary not going through.

I mean... If you thought you submitted then you've obviously completed all of the work. As an applicant that is competing against you for a seat at this institution, I'd tell you not to submit it. However, as a person, you should definitely submit it. You might get in if you submit it now. You definitely won't if you never submit it.

This was just updated. On the last decision day, they accepted 10 IS and 8 OOS.

Weren’t batches of II suppose to come out last Wednesday? Since they send out II every two weeks and the last invites were sent out 11/4...

They say about every two weeks, so I'm guessing that the holiday (Veterans' Day) pushed it back to 3 weeks. It should come out on Wednesday of this week.

So they have about half the interviews left to give out for in-state I'm guessing?

Something to consider... MSAR says they have a first year class of 80 students, but this year their first year class is 120 students. I suspect there are more interview slots available

Hey all, for those that have been accepted, have you found where in the portal page we can accept the offer/pay deposit etc? I'm not seeing it but could be totally blind, wanted to check before I email admissions and look silly. Thank you!

I asked Dr. Fogerty and he said there is nothing we need to do until February. No deposit required. No commitment needed until then .
This was a response earlier in this thread. Nothing to do until February apparently

last year they offer 396 interviews and this year theyve already sent out 312...whats the latest completion date theyve offered II for so far? Any october completions with II?

For the people who were accepted/waitlisted, what time of day did you find out? 🙂

Those who have got accepted all seemed to have a got a call from Dr. Fogerty in the morning. This was the case for me as well.
