Hi! Sorry if this is a silly question, but on the Your Interview Day tab in the portal, it says that "Instructions for accessing both of your interviews (HEP and medical student interviews)" are found in the "Web Interview" tab in the left menu bar. Is this something that should show up before the interview day? I already scheduled my interview earlier this week. I see the link for the main Zoom conference room, but nothing for the actual one-on-one interviews. Thank you!

Hi @CWRU.Sman !

If I am interviewing with CCLCM, will that interview also be used for the University program if I am fortunate enough to receive an Interview Invite from both or will it be with specific University faculty?
Hey - congrats on the CCLCM interview. No, these are separate interviews. So, if you're invited to interview with the University Program there is a separate interview day experience and interviews.

Congrats on being invited for an interview! The 'Web Interview' tab will show up once we finalize everything on our end. Probably later today or tomorrow. We'll also point it out to you on your interview day. You won't need it right away anyway. As long as you have the "Zoom Conference Room" info, that will get you started in the morning. Any more questions, feel free to email us at our general account - [email protected]. Several of us monitor that account.

@CWRU.Sman do you know how long the You Do IQ sessions are? I want to register for one, but my work schedule is making it a bit tricky.

Hey! They should last approximately an hour but if you have to leave early, that's fine too. I added the approximate duration to the info in the interview portal. Thanks for asking about that!

No we haven't been publishing this kind of information because we don't batch our invitations. We send them out almost daily as our screening team completes their reviews. We also interview more candidates than they do so we have to keep the invitations in a steady stream as much as we can.

I just wanted to say the I really appreciate your willingness to spend time answering questions here! The process is a black box to applicants much of the time, and hearing the reasoning behind decisions from the other end makes things seem much more comprehensible and less arcane.

(Love the podcast, too!)

You're quite welcome. I'm trying to pop in when I can! Oh, and thanks for listening to my podcast. It's always flattering to hear that people like it and find it to be helpful. Next episode will be a little different. My guest is a doctor friend of mine who used to be on our admissions committee, was the prez of Benioff Children's Hospital at UCSF until about 2 weeks ago and now he is a senior advisor at HHS in DC. He's been on various presidential health care committees in the past too. Very interesting guy and he's cool! We're going to talk about the many routes your career as a physician can take and, maybe more importantly, how to connect with your audience over video interviews. Given that he has been interviewed multiple times over the past few months on MSNBC and Good Morning America, I think he might have some pro tips. Then, next week I'm interviewing the dean of admissions and dean of curriculum from Minnesota's medical school. Fun times!

So instead of moping about rejections today, I thought I would do a quick write-up after interviewing last week.

1. General Format: Meet the admissions committee in the morning with introductions, followed by two short sessions about curriculum and financial aid. The curriculum meeting was in a breakout group for my interview day. We then had "lunch" with students, saw a virtual tour of the new Health Education Campus, then proceeded to interviews in the afternoon. Interviews are scheduled randomly in the afternoon. One is with a current student, and the other with faculty. My student interview was about 35 minutes long, while my faculty interview was 50 minutes. I think they are both scheduled to last 45 min to 1 hr on the iapply portal, but my student interviewer said we ran out of time at 30 min. Either the student interviews are supposed to be shorter, or she was polite with me and I was boring her to death, lmao. There was a lobby to chat with current students in between and after interviews. My student interview was less conversational, but it wasn't like I was being grilled or anything.

2. School Impressions: Seriously the most amazing admissions staff I've ever seen. Dr. Mehta, Christian, and Tom all seem to really care about making this experience as great as possible. When they say they "assume good intentions," I believe them. In an application cycle without in-person interviews, there aren't the same number of clues about the environment and vibe at the school that we would otherwise receive. I don't feel scared at all about not having an in-person interview at Case. I have learned all I needed to know about how the school operates based on the great interactions I had with admissions staff and current students. If the cost of attendance isn't a huge difference between any potential acceptances, I really don't see myself picking any other school over CWRU. Really hoping everything works out here because it was one of the moments in life where you feel like you know what you're supposed to do. It just seems like everything fits with what I'm looking for.

3. General Impressions: Don't sleep on Cleveland. Healthcare is booming in the city and Case + CC pretty much have a monopoly on the hospital affiliations in the whole city. There isn't really any competition for resources or affiliations with other medical schools. That's a big plus for me. Students will always be able to find opportunities, and I think the match list proves itself there. For example, their 2019 class had 9 people match neurosurg... seriously, 9???! I really don't think the students are limited at all by the resources available from the school. Cost of living is also great in the area, and my wife and I are looking for home ownership during medical school.

My interview day had a couple quirks, but overall went very smoothly. Based on how much feedback the staff requested from us, I fully expect their interview days to be a smooth, well-oiled machine by the end of the week.

We were told that we would have admissions decisions given to us on Oct 15th, but we also received an email that said approximately 2 months. I'm not sure which one to go off of. Either way, I'm sold on Case. Here's to hoping they see the same in me!

Thank you for taking the time to write all this out. It's really helpful and reassuring.
I'm so excited. II this morning! This is my dream school.

Have a lot of IIs already been released here and for Cleveland Clinic? Was hoping to get the chance to interview but as someone that submitted the secondary super early starting to feel like the application might not get seen.

If you have 10 interview invites, I'd say you have something pretty special in your app. I wouldn't give up hope!

I see that CWRU requests that VITA is completed at least one week before interview day. Does anyone know how often VITA days are available? For example, are they only offered on Saturdays, etc.?

The invites are sent out each Thursday

You can complete it whenever you want. You don't have to do it all in one sitting either. I think it totals about 25 minutes total of interview time. I haven't done mine yet though.

Okay, but then can you take VITA at any time after getting the invite? Or do you have to schedule it in advance like CASPer? Basically I'm wondering if I should wait until getting the VITA invite to select an interview day.

If anyone watches the presidential debate today, check out how awesome the HEC is. Hopefully they show some shots of the entire campus and building too.

You can take Vita anytime at any day. Invites are given on Thursday. I wasn't able to take my VITA until one day before my interview, but admissions said that wasn't a problem. They aren't using VITA until after interviews anyway. They told me to take it as soon as I was ready, but I didn't have to do it immediately. For me, I got the VITA invite on Thursday, but my interview was on Monday.

Great, thanks!!

You will get the VITA invite on 10/1 and can complete it as soon as you want. So schedule your interview anytime 10/9 or after.

Is case’s IS post II acceptance ~50%? If so that’s surprisingly high

Anyone else get hit with an R this morning or just me. 🙁

Not for me yet. Sorry to hear 🙁

I'm still waiting for II. Did you receive the R through email or portal?

Does anyone know how far out they’re scheduling II’s?

When I scheduled last week, there were dates available every MWF in October beginning on 10/5. I didn't look past October though, sorry!

@Premed35671 I'm sorry to hear that man. Do you mind telling us a complete date and/or stats so we can know if the R wave is about to start rolling through?

R just now too.. complete 8/25, LM 74
But the email was specifically for the University program.. is there a chance that I am still considered for CCLCM?
Yes. I know of a few people last year who interviewed for CCLCM and were rejected from the university program.
