2020-2021 Georgetown

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Welp, I interviewed 12/8 and am bracing myself for a WL or R. It seems like the acceptance wave was yesterday.
orrrrrrrr, (i interviewed 12/10), we catch the next A wave in the following weeks since it seems like no one has received a decision during our week:)

I feel your pain, friend. The decisions that are made behind closed doors that separate an outright acceptance from a WL are arguably the most mystifying part of the entire application process - it's particularly frustrating when you hear such positive feedback from your interviewer (I was under the impression the the interview here carries a lot of weight in the final decision process but who knows how Georgetown actually operates).

Happy to chat in PMs if you need to vent or just someone to sympathize with - hang in there.
Important to remember 1 interviewers opinion is only that. The final executive admissions committee gets to vote while looking at the whole picture.

Do they send out post-II R's? I interviewed 11/10 and have not heard anything since

WL; interviewed 12/1

Was told that I would be an "amazing fit" for Georgetown by my interviewer.

NGL, I am kind of devastated. This was my only MD interview (2 DOs: 1 WL, 1 affective WL) and last real chance this year at an acceptance, but I loved everything about this school and felt like out of all the schools I applied to, this was the only one that really actually resonated with me perfectly and it also happened to fit exactly what I was looking for (location, size, programs, etc). I know a WL isn't a death sentence and it's not over until it's over, but man, this is crushing after such a long wait.
I'm sorry - I know exactly how you feel :( I really do hope you get off the WL soon - it looks like they take people off the WL sooner rather than later compared to other schools

If you don't mind me asking - did you interview with faculty or an M4? It seems as though they may not place as much weight on the interview as I would've thought? I'm not sure, guessing over here per usual lolll

Just one Letter of Intent right after being given a WL spot
Okay, that gives me some hope, thanks! I did the same thing (sent in a letter of intent about 5 days after getting the WL) so I'm hoping that may work for me down the line 🤞

Has anyone had this same problem as me regarding financial aid?
When I enter my information to any of the three credit bureaus, they each say they cannot verify my identification, so I had to send in supporting documentation for them to do so. I believe this is because I do not have an actual credit history (no credit card, no renting a place, etc.). Is anyone else in the same boat?

Anyone who interviewed in the first week of November haven't heard yet? I am so confused... maybe they aren't reviewing by interview dates?

Vent: not upset at the WL but just frustrated at the amount of time it took to send out decisions to everyone. Now it’s going to be another wait sesh for the WL decision and this full process is just so grueling and mentally taxing. Hope y’all are okay as well

Next 25-30 ALs will go to top SMP students. After that, whatever is left (< 10), and then Goodnight Gracie.

8 year old account this is your first post?
Yeah, "adcoms...taking some time off with the election upcoming" sounds much more logical!!
(Sound familiar?) Son, trust me. SMP & GEMS are next. The grades from next week's 2 tests for SMP will lock their chances, they are getting ALs next. That will take us right into end of April. Don't you wish you could see same communication that is shared with SMP & GEMS students? Praying and positive thinking are all good. But facts are facts.

Ignoring the fact that this is nearly impossible to follow, so what about those who interviewed throughout January and February? You’re suggesting they are not in contention for acceptances?
