@Cap001 official, been on msar from the jump and they confirmed in an info sesh last month
Oh it was definitely an anomaly... but I'm still praying for it to happen again! Haha!A week early sounds like an anomaly. My bet is on Mardi Gras or that Wednesday. It's more in line with historical early releases. I imagine they'll want to release them in time for CYMS opening on Feb 19.
This. I fully expect to discover my fate sometime in April/May. On the bright side, everyone I know at Pitt was accepted off the waitlist.I feel it won't matter for me in the long run. Think my app will get waitlisted right off the bat. Sadge.
No one knows. My theory: 150 acceptances, then they look at the CYMS aggregate number. Then do their first WL pull shortly after. But MSAR said 65 were taken off the WL, so that would have meant 250 acceptances for 150 seats originally. So....idk.
Maybe from GAP guaranteed program ?does anyone know how many students who went to pitt as undergrads are actually in each med school class? I didnt go to Pitt but I noticed a lot of Pitt students in the information sessions so I was wondering if there is any bias.
Thank you, by chance do you remember if you addressed it to Dean Piraino or the admissions committee as a whole?Personally, I sent it to the Admin office and CC'ed Dean Piraino. The choice is yours.

Do you think it matters a whole lot who it is addressed to, as long as it gets added to our file?I did both.
Pitt is actually still conducting interviews currently. My interview is tomorrow, Tuesday Feburary 2. I believe that might have been the last available date to interview but since it has been months since registration, I can't be sure.No one knows.

Don't know if this means much but Pitt said in their info session that they interviewed more applicants this cycle (a little over 900)
Did they say anything about class size changing from ~148? Or if they'll offer more acceptances to meet that ~45% post-interview acceptance rate? This cycle is crazy...Don't know if this means much but Pitt said in their info session that they interviewed more applicants this cycle (a little over 900)
I doubt their class size will change. Most likely the post-II A rate will go downDid they say anything about class size changing from ~148? Or if they'll offer more acceptances to meet that ~45% post-interview acceptance rate? This cycle is crazy...
LMFAO that is exactly my reaction. "dont know if this means much" OH IT MEANS A LOTTTTTTT IT REALLY DOES.
At least it was super high to begin with. Most likely the post-II A rate will go down
They said the class size is still aiming for the same number (148). Didn't mention anything about acceptances changingDid they say anything about class size changing from ~148? Or if they'll offer more acceptances to meet that ~45% post-interview acceptance rate? This cycle is crazy...
The funny thing is, when I interviewed in October, they made sure to call out that they were planning to interview the same number of applicants as in previous cycles. I guess they were feeling the heat to increase it.From past years' data, they only give ~300 acceptance...It's crazy they interviewed >900 people. I wonder if GPA&MCAT would still be an important factor post-II
well this just ruined my day LOLDon't know if this means much but Pitt said in their info session that they interviewed more applicants this cycle (a little over 900)
When I interviewed in early December they said they were only interviewing about 100 more than usualThe funny thing is, when I interviewed in October, they made sure to call out that they were planning to interview the same number of applicants as in previous cycles. I guess they were feeling the heat to increase it.
When I interviewed in January, they said they aim to interview ~10-11 percent of applicants per usual. I think they usually interview around 700ish, so that means they received an extra 2000 apps this cycle. The funny thing is, when I interviewed in October, they made sure to call out that they were planning to interview the same number of applicants as in previous cycles. Frenchfries. You the MVP!Nothing we can do about this now guys! We should try to stay optimistic. There are amazing schools like Northwestern that have interviewed 800+ in the past and have accepted ~450. Who is to say this can't be true about Pitt too? This cycle is very different and we should keep in mind that the interviews ARE virtual-this is all unprecedented. Let's just stay patient and hope for the best 😎
I was just going to say this! We only have 16 pages guys we have so much neuroticism to live up to!The vibe of this year's thread is nowhere near the ultra-neuroticism of last year's, with the whole complete email conspiracy LOL
I believe only some applicants were receiving complete emails upon submitting their secondaries, and they took it as an auto-reject lolWhat complete email? KEKW.
Out of a class of 147, I'd say around 25-30 did undergrad at Pitt, including the ~10 guaranteed admission students. Excluding GAP students, my admittedly very cursory estimates would mean approx. 15% of those accepted are Pitt grads. Now, that would still be an overrepresentation of Pitt grads for a top 20 school. What I'm not sure of is whether this is only because there are a ton more Pitt applicants to the medical school or whether there is an admissions bias. But even if there is, its very minimal and completely non-existent in the MSTP and PSTP, with 1 of 23 having done undergrad at Pitt.does anyone know how many students who went to pitt as undergrads are actually in each med school class? Does anyone remember how the PSTP may help get someone accepted? From what I recall, they really don’t have anything to do with the regular MD admissions, but will interviewing PSTP help in any way?Out of a class of 147, I'd say around 25-30 did undergrad at Pitt, including the ~10 guaranteed admission students. One advantage is if you end up on the waitlist and get accepted to PSTP, you’ll be taken off the waitlist.Does anyone remember how the PSTP may help get someone accepted? Also could anyone who interviewed give some tips/tell me what the day is like? Is it all about research or will they ask about other stuff too? I’m interviewing next week and I’m pretty nervous.
During one of the sessions I attended, the faculty made a joke about how everyone was looking so serious in suits and such saying that the info sessions have absolutely no influence on the decision process. So unless the faculty member, I forget who it was, was uninformed, I doubt they would care if you missed it.I missed my scheduled curriculum session...am I DOA? This is my dream school.

Would you consider sending an update with my fall semester grades worth it? I got a 4.0 in the semester, which is the same as my current GPA so I don't know if it means much. Sorry if I'm bugging you, you just seem pretty knowledgeable regarding this school and the entire process.Only send a letter of intent if you intend to matriculate given an acceptance. If Pitt isn't your unequivocal top choice, do not send a LOI. I think I might actually agree with the SDN consensus on letters of interest. I can't imagine they mean much, especially if you literally claim a school is among your top 3, which probably does more harm than anything I would imagine. If you interviewed and haven't withdrawn your application from consideration, your continued interest is basically strongly implied. Everyone's interested in every medical school they interviewed at up until an acceptance to their top choice. That's why intent stands out. I'd honestly only send Pitt an update (which substantiates your continued interest) if you really feel the need to send something. Don't send them a letter of interest telling them they rank in your personal top 3. And def don't send a letter of intent.
I really don't think this is a substantive update. If your current GPA is a 4.0, that's impressive enough and another 4.0 literally wouldn't make any difference tbh. I would really only mention the 4.0 final semester if its in a LOI. An update with just your semester GPA wouldn't do anything. I doubt it hurts though.Would you consider sending an update with my fall semester grades worth it? I got a 4.0 in the semester, which is the same as my current GPA so I don't know if it means much. What's the dress code?Brb sending everyone a zoom link for a cry session
No insight unfortunately, but when did you submit your PSTP application? Also interested in PSTP interview experiences if anyone has insight!
Bet say less. I'm good to leave tomorrow at 5pm.Okay so according to the theory of time dilation, if we all get into a spaceship (anyone got Elon Musk's cell???) and travel super quickly away from Earth, like super super quickly, time would slow for us but remain at the same rate on Earth. Soooooooo, maybe we all go for a SUPER quick field trip to Mars (ya know, lunch with a view) and then come right back! If we travel fast enough, maybe it can be two weeks later in Earth time and we can know if we got in tomorrow!

I figured they chose February 19 because that's when the AMCAS Choose Your Medical School Tool opens. I have my hopes up it will update whenever that opens (maybe the day before). I know historically they tend to release decisions early, but this year (with those extra interviews) I'm doubtful it'll be more than a day early, if it's early at all.I heard February 19th at 4 PM EDT floating around. Not sure if it's verified information. I don't blame them needing the full time to rank +200 more interviews than usual.
I think it’s all at once; either accepted or waitlist. And then there is some movement on the waitlist. So considering I understand pitt usually does acceptances in batches, does anyone know if (like perhaps based on last year) this would mean that batches probably go out every 2 weeks after feb 19 since that's when decisions are due?
