What do y'all make of a secondary invitation in late October? I (of course) submitted in the following day or two, but is this just a money grab or do I stand any chance at an II this late?? (3.5 / 3.6s / 520 / IS / 78 wars score)
dw y’all i caught that pre-II R 😎😎😎

i submitted 9/25 but have not heard back... does this mean a rejection since it’s already so late in the cycle? My mcat is LOW... i was expecting to get rejected already but have not received an email. are they done sending out interview invites?

Any MSTP R's? Complete mid-September but haven't heard anything. Assuming it's a soft R for now.

Also, I chose the option of only being considered for the MSTP if that makes a difference.

+1 on still not hearing back and submitted late sept.

I was complete early Oct (10/6) and I haven't heard back either. However, I applied to be considered for both the MSTP and MD-only programs. Does anyone know if they notify you about the programs separately or both at once?

According to the website (Interviews | UCSF Medical Scientist Training Program), there are two more upcoming interviews for MSTP: 1/19-1/20 and 1/28-1/29 (Day 1 for MD, Day 2 for MSTP-specific interview). Since MSTP admissions run separately, they might not give pre-II R just like what MD-only admissions does.

My friend did MSTP interview on Oct and checked both the MSTP and MD-only on her app. Since MSTP interview encompasses MD, people might get into MD before MSTP decision comes out in early March. I am not sure how UCSF deals with applicants who didn't make it into MSTP II but are qualified for MD-only II.

Thanks for your response! I appreciate it.

I feel like they just have too many great candidates that they want to interview and they are weeding out peeps little by little to prepare for one final round of interview invites? Regardless, I really appreciate that the ad com is working so hard everyday (until like 7-8 pm PST?) to notify us regarding decisions. I'm ready for my R tonight (I can feel it)

I also haven't heard anything since September...seems unlikely they'll be giving more MSTP IIs if their last date is end of this month...

When would be the next round of post-II decisions? It's so bizarre to me that besides several acceptances notified in December (someone reported ~40 accepted based on FB group?), no other result has been released since then. According to the previous years' trend, we should have seen another round of post-II decisions last week or maybe this week. Does anyone have an idea on what's going on with the admissions this cycle? Is it a delay caused by COVID-19? Or have there been changes introduced with the new admissions Dean?
I'm also curious if the number on the FB group(?) has increased. For those accepted, are you able to tell?

they’re not done! someone posted above that admissions stated they’re still reviewing apps. however, for other schools I’m personally considering silence at this point a soft R.

When do we think MD decisions will be out by? I'm SJV prime as well and MD and SJV come out separately. Any insights? I interviewed a couple days ago 1/12/21

at this point, if I were you I wouldn’t expect a decision til march

I heard SJV usually came out later than MD in the past but for this cycle who knows you would get into SJV before MD lol. This week is almost over, next Monday is a holiday, ... Soon to be my happy happy 4-month anniversary with UCSF 😉

Has anyone interviewed for JMP/PRIME yet? If so what does the interview day look like? Thanks 🙂

When do you guys expect the second round of decisions to come out? Next week?
I have Jan 21st marked down as a potential release date (based on the 2019-2020 thread). However, considering that many first round decisions haven't come out, we may be waiting a bit longer as well.

I'm thinking maybe they'll still release the next round around the same time. They might be holding off on WLs or Rs and just pushing some applicants off until the next round

May be neurotic question, but what time of the day did you guys receive interview requests? My brother got his around 8:30cst? I thought the office closes 5p pst? Maybe I’m just thinking to much.

You mean interview invites? I got mine at 5:08 pm EST. Some people here got pre-II Rs late at night... I think the time they notify the status can be random, out of the normal working hour range?

Alright - yeah some have been getting interview invites late at night. Makes me wonder how that’s possible.

I’m in the same boat as you. Not too great of an MCAT and I submitted early October and have only heard dead silence lol. I saw someone get an II this past week so maybe there’s still hope!

kid in my lab just got an interview invite from UCSF. He shouted with excitement in the lab. lol.

Edit: before people ask, he says he has a low MCAT but high GPA and never thought he was going to get an interview invite. So he says that they must really be MCAT blind for interviews. Earliest dates he saw proposed to him for interviews were February 4 and February 8. I think I covered all the questions yall were going to ask. Oh and I think he submitted the main app in September

Thanks for the info! And great news for your friend!

I can't help but be a bit salty though since I'm one of those people who are depending on my MCAT to make up for my below average gpa....
