Anyone else still waiting to receive residency verification? Submitted secondary 9/1 and the residency packet 9/9. UWSOM confirmed all needed documents were present and forwarded it to the residency office on 9/30. Sucks to not be in consideration for so long just because I went to college out of state 🙁

Yeah I was verified and complete several days before you received the forwarded message. Their residency verification process is very thorough. Hopefully you don't have to submit more documents and receive the verified/complete emails this week!!

I also submitted everything in early September and I'm still waiting to hear back. I don't even think my packet has been forwarded to the residency office yet. I've only gotten an email confirming I'm applying as an independent and that was over 3 weeks ago. Womp.

Their office just gets so many packets to review and they're all quite lengthy. UWSOM admissions told me that the verification should not interfere with consideration for II. I assume thats especially true with their delays as they were the last school I know of to send out MD secondaries. Hoping you and @kittensneezes hear back this week!!

Can anyone speak on how rotations works for this school. Do you essentially just have to move around every 6 weeks or so for years 3 and 4?
You can choose to do the Safari (where you travel around the WWAMI region) or you can choose to do a state track (doing all your rotations in a particular state). You'll have priority for your respective state (for example, an Idaho WWAMI student would have priority for the Idaho track), but if you have connections/strong ties to other states, that can put you higher on the priority list for rotations outside your state. Unless you have something tying you down somewhere (kids, sick family, etc), you'll likely travel every 6-8 weeks. (Lurking MS2s/MS3s/MS4s can correct me if I'm wrong)

You can set up a "home base"-a place where you will cover your own housing/transportation. Barring Seattle + your home base, UW will cover housing/transportation.

Length of rotations vary by what you're doing. They're usually between 6-8 weeks. The elective rotations are shorter, somewhere around 2-4 weeks.

So when you do a state track, will you be able to have all your rotations in a close proximity? Have wife and kids and would absolutely love to go to UW but being gone for lengths of time every 6-8 weeks is not ideal for my family 😕

Does anyone know for the MSTP pre application section where we need to list our prior publications does anyone know the format we should list them? Like should I put them in full citation format or just list the title and the journal they are published in? LoL If anyone is an MSTP applicant or anyone else who may be able to help me out please do.

Generally, yes, though I think it depends how healthcare facilities are distributed in your state and where you live. I'm not in the Seattle or Spokane cohorts, but if you live close to cities like Olympia and Seattle, you could do many of your rotations locally. In your case you'd have a pretty good argument for staying local, not to mention you get priority for your state. From what I know, UW works hard to accommodate everyone's needs. You'll get a survey asking you for your top spots and reasons why you might want to stay in a certain place.

Anyone who had an interview today, how did it go? I know two out of the three interviwers wont have looked at our file before so should we assume the questions wont revolved around our experiences and are gonna be more broad ethical questions?

They've all seen your file. The two ADCOMs just don't see grades/GPA/MCAT!

Has anyone in the Spokane cohort been able to schedule their interview yet? I got the II over a week ago but I have not received a scheduling email/further communication.

Not yet. Given they only have one week in November and one week in January, I would expect if you're in the November one you'll get access like the beginning of November?

Does MCAT still being weighted hardly for final decision? Currently have received 2 WL from DO schools. I'm very panic. I actually have a 503 (121 in CARS, I'm ESL). IMO, receiving II because of my stella story and mission fit.

Does anyone have any interview tips for UW? Especially in the virtual format?

Likely the most comprehensive interview page from any med school. This is how I've prepped for all of my interviews thus far and am 2/2 of schools that have started sending out admissions offers. WSU still hasn't released any.

So I know UW is really big into primary care. Would it be a bad idea to mention an interest in a specialty outside primary care during an interview?

I wouldn't think so. I think it would be worst to talk about PC without any experience or interest in that area. They have a strong focus on PC but its not like they don't graduate students that match into subspecialties. I think it's more important to share your narrative and why that specialty interests you.

Idaho II just now! Secondary submitted 8/25, Residency Verified 9/2.

WOW it feels so good to be back in the game. With how crazy the application process has been for me, I'm just beyond relieved to have made it this far with one of my dream schools!
YES!!!!!!!!

Congrats 🙂 We are all in this together! Can I ask your stats?

I've been rooting for you from the shadows Idahomie

Has anyone else not heard anything and received the complete email over 6 weeks ago? IS. In the email it said it would take 4-6 weeks for my application to be reviewed. I’m at 7+ weeks now.

Did anyone get an email saying when you will be hearing back about an update after the interview? Just curious

I thought they only send A's in 3(?)ish rounds. Could be wrong but I do not think UW is rolling.

ah thanks! I was just wondering as I saw on the UW website, it says UW uses rolling admission. Do you happen to know approximately when the three rounds of decisions are sent out?

I may be mistaken, but I'm pretty sure that UW is rolling and that people should hear back by the end of 2 weeks from their interview with a decision (A, R, SUC)
@lovemedluv did you interview? Did they send you a post-interview email that says you'll hear back in two weeks?

According to their email "The majority of applicants who interview in Seattle do not receive a final decision until February or March." Whereas other cohorts seem to push out decisions much more batch form based on their batched interviews.

Thanks for the message!! Yes I attended my interview this week and got an email saying that I should be hearing back soon(more likely end of next week). I was a little surprised on how fast they make their decision and started doubting myself and wondering if I bombed the interview and that's why they were able to make a decision that fast LOL.

To be honest, the wait is torturous.....

Nope I think that's just their fast turn around time 🙂
