Does anyone know if they take biochem as a substitute for orgo2? I contacted them to see if I would have to take it, and their only response was, "contact your premed advisor for course substitution."

Wow damn they still haven’t gotten back to you! And yeah I saw that, hopefully it indicates a release of decisions soon

are they going to accept only 300 right now and waitlist the rest, or will they accept more than 300 right now (and then as spots get filled up you get pulled off WL)?

Does wayne state tell us how long each MMI will be? I see they said we have 5 MMI but how long is each station?

When we start our interview, does orientation video pop up or something? Someone mentioned orientation but I don’t see a tab to click orientation (just MMI and faculty/student)

theres a link with the orientation zoom session via email (not on AMP)

Do they send us the email closer to the date, or is it already sent? I can’t find the link

edit: to clarity, if I’m interviewing this Friday, should I have received the orientation link?

no it's usually the day before ur interview

I'm interviewing 2/12, and I just wanted to clarify that there will be an interview link sent via email the day before the interview? Is it through Zoom or Vita? This is my top choice, so I really want to be prepared for the format! Thanks in advance!

it's via zoom! yes the entire interview is through AMP (it redirects to zoom). the orientation session is only through a link sent via email. When did you receive the interview invite? Congrats 🙂

Tracker for anyone that hasn’t seen it. Wonder if all those offers have been sent out yet

Thank you!!! I received it on 12/14. Was just getting nervous because I didn't see any links or additional info.

Anyone know if Wayne is receptive to post-interview update/letter of intent?

I sent multiple updates the last time I applied until I was finally given the R on the 1st of day of classes, I remember speaking with one of the adcom's for application feedback and she basically told me that rarely if ever does Wayne read update letters. She wasn't trying to be rude or anything but just with the number of applications, its not feasible for them to read those, she said its mostly for applicants to feel like they're still contributing. Hurt then to hear that it was basically a waste of my time but 🤷🏽‍♂️, not trying to discourage you @MJO1998 but that's the hard truth.

Yeah an adcom i spoke to said the same thing. They won’t make or break your application and aren’t read 99.9% of the time

Also if you don’t mind me asking why did you get the R when you applied to Wayne before? Did the adcom specify? Sorry if this is too personal and if you don’t feel like sharing that’s completely fine 🙂

Hey guys! I’m new to this thread. I have an interview here in the coming weeks and it’s my first MMI. I was wondering if all the 5 mmi stations were ethical questions or only a few? Like were there questions in those 5 stations about ur app? Thank you!

do you think its the same with interview thank you letters? does it really make a difference if I thank my MMI interviewer who I chatted with for 4 minutes?

If this is truly the case then why even give us the option to upload update letters, additional documents, etc? I realize you're saying it's there to make us feel like we are still contributing to our application, but it seems kinda ridiculous to have that option if they won't even read what we upload.

No I don’t think it is! thank you notes are more of a courtesy - especially for faculty and medical students

It is ridiculous, but if you think about it, it makes sense why it became this way. Yet another good idea that got corrupted by the zero-sum hypercompetitive nature of this process. Now it's just another way to game this ridiculous system. Here's my theory about what happened.

ADCOMs thought "it's a long process and we get that circumstances could change after sending in your application, so we should allow people to inform us if something important changes." They wanted only "meaningful" things like getting a paper published, getting some kind of prestigious award, etc. They expected that this would be a fairly rare occurrence, and so when they got updates they would read them and give the applicant a boost (an II, an acceptance post-interview, whatever).

Some people started pushing the envelope of what it meant to have a meaningful update, adding things like new jobs, new grades. Some schools appreciated these updates as well and would give those applicants a little boost. On reddit and SDN, premeds saw others benefiting from sending updates, and realized "this is a lever I can pull to influence the outcome of my application." They started to flood schools with updates about things like starting a new volunteer position, a few new volunteer hours, a few more research hours, using it as an opportunity to send an extra "Why This School" secondary essay. Some schools still appreciated these because it showed "continued interest." It became completely zero-sum, and applicants bad at playing the update game may now be at an actual disadvantage.

At some schools, ADCOMs saw this, and decided "screw this, we're not reading updates anymore." They leave the option to update on their portals because it's too much of a pain to change, and maybe once in a blue moon an applicant might send in an update that's really meaningful. At other schools that "appreciate updates," the game is still as zero-sum as ever.

I’m sure you’re 100% right about that. I guess one way to possibly combat that is limiting the number of updates an applicant can upload to only one. Even so, we know there would still be the type of “why this school” essays uploaded that include nothing of actual significance. It just sucks that it’s been corrupted by the hyper-competitiveness of this entire process.
