2020-2021 Wayne State

interviewing next week. Any tips from yall? Should I expect every MMI station to be ethical scenarios?

The number of tension headaches I've had on account of Wayne/this process.... Does anyone know if they have less acceptances now than they did this time last year? I feel like they haven't accepted enough people to even fill their class yet, and I know most schools accept at least 1.5X their class size.

I’m with you there! But this might be a good thing for WLers since the amt of As is pretty low rn? It just seems like the post II A rate is pretty low rn :/

Wayne has a class size of roughly 290 each year, and there are currently only 172 members in the admitted students' facebook group. 4 of those are admins. This waiting game sucks, but there's definitely still hope if you haven't heard back yet post-interview!

Edit: the admissions tracker says 289 acceptances have been given, but they gave out 572 total A's last cycle, so it's far from over!

Also they said they’re doing 600-650 As this cycle, so WL isn’t the worst spot it’s just a wait!

I would expect something Wednesday- Friday afternoon tbh. Cross ur fingers!

This was my very first email from them besides the II email back in november. The email sounds like it was for ppl who have done interviews?
it's weird how they randomly send those out (I thought they'd send those at the same time) - I got mine last week and almost got a heart attack

yeah i got one a few weeks after being waitlisted in Oct but haven't gotten one since, it really does seem random!

Hi guys, just wanted to clarify for Wayne State- are these this cycles secondary questions?:

During the stress of the pandemic, what was the one thing you learned about yourself? How has that affected your outlook on the role of medicine?

Do you think all physicians should be leaders? Please discuss your reasons.

What do you feel your mission is in life and why?

What about Wayne SOM is especially appealing to you. Please discuss.

I had different ones. I also didn’t submit until a bit later in the cycle (end of sept). I believe the questions were changed for everyone after a certain date but I’m not completely sure

Here are the questions I had, essentially the same except for one:
- During the stress of the pandemic, what was the one thing you learned about yourself? How has that affected your outlook on the role of medicine?
- Are empathy and sympathy the same? Please discuss their importance in the practice of medicine.
- Describe what specific opportunities/resources are offered at Wayne State University School of Medicine that you plan to utilize as a medical student, and why?

Did you guys email them? Regarding to change the questions?
I am late but this school reached out to me to submit my secondary to be considered for this cycle but the questions are not the same as what I’m seeing from this thread. I have emailed them so we will see :/

When did they tell you to submit your secondary? They've already sent out all interview invites for the cycle (at least they said so in the most recent round of rejection emails)

By the end of this week. They told me I have to submit it to be considered for their last spots of interview

(n=1) They gave me a call like that too and I got an interview despite being complete later than most!
Yay so proud of you 🙂 what were your secondary questions? I emailed them and have not heard back - are they fast in email response
