2021-2022 Miami

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
There are many schools I have noticed are much more consistent than Miami at least and haven’t had a period of silence greater than a week. I’m simply suggesting that they’ve seem to have gone through quite a ~long~ period. I have no doubt they are reviewing everyday, I just wonder why they haven’t released the results of said review for about 3 weeks. Of course, this is simply information gathered from this thread, Reddit, and the tracker.
If I were you, I wouldn't hold any expectations of transparency from adcoms. Seller's market, my friend.

THIS^^^^^. And, within the sellers' market, the Miami admissions office is particularly notorious for being less than transparent and less than a pleasure to deal with. It is what it is. It's a great school in a great location, so, we deal with what we have to deal with. As @BioPsychotic so astutely noted, have no expectations and you will never be disappointed.

For the chronologist list of activities and volunteering, do we have to provide a short description or is a list just fine? Working on this secondary drained my soul 💩
According to the secondary instructions: "When asked for a chronologic list, please list start and stop dates along with a brief description of the activity."

Complete 8/14 (yep I dragged my feet on this one) and I got scored as of (probably) yesterday, 9/9. How soon have people been getting IIs after being scored? :?

What does your portal say when you’re scored? I was complete 8/2 and it still says that my app is “under review” :/

Mine (MD) says: "Your Application has been reviewed by the Admissions Committee at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine. Applicants will be invited to interview based upon their evaluation score from the Admissions Committee review. You will be contacted by email if you are selected for an interview. Interview invitations are extended between August and March."

I was complete 8/13 and scored on 8/30 and it's been silent since

I dont think any II's have gone out since the first wave around 8/13, at least none reported. I've been scored for almost a month and nothing!

II this morning. 73.3 LM URM IS resident with ties? to the school (shadowed in the hospital system and have some family friends in the medical school system). super excited! top choice!
Congrats! When were you scored?

I feel like scoring isn't even a good sign at this point. I've been scored for a month and silence 🙁
As I said nearly two months ago (Post #184):

What does being scored even mean at this school? Based on SDN reports from prior cycles, some people who are scored receive IIs while others don't, and people who never see their status change receive IIs while others don't. It honestly seems to be an indicator that has no predictive value as to what is going to happen next. Am I missing something?
Dealing with this school is frustrating AF. It is what it is.

Unless and until you receive an II, it is pointless to try to read tea leaves here. We all can't help ourselves, but, you should trust it because it is true -- being scored doesn't mean anything other than you have been scored. It's neither good nor bad. Their portal sucks, so the reality is that other people have also been scored, but their portal does not reflect it, as evidenced by the fact that people in prior cycles received IIs without their portal reflecting they were scored.

II today 🙂 (MD-MPH) I had to rank some choices for the interview date- does anybody who has interviewed already know how long it takes after you rank until they confirm the date?
Congrats! I got an MD-MPH interview invite today as well. I have no idea about the timeline but was wondering if you know about whether the MD only and the MD-MPH have different interview processes

Got the II email invitation around noon on a Monday and was given my (first choice) date less than two hours later. Although technically I ranked my dates the Friday before when the portal was glitching and showing IIs before the emails were sent. I doubt they considered my ranking at that time, though. I'm applying regular MD so it might not be exactly the same for MD-MPH.

Congrats on the II 🙂

I am wondering too because the info on the sign-up page seemed to be outdated. Hopefully they will give specifics when they confirm the date/time. but Congrats to you too!

i got the confirmation within an hour but i applied to the regular md program

I understand that there are two interviews - one closed with Ethics/Behavior questions and the other open with questions about the background and experiences. Question - are both interviews equally important or one carries more weight than the other ? Thanks

I'm pretty sure they're weighted equally in the adcom's final review of the interviewed applicant

Is there any way to check what programs you applied to? I believe I applied to the MD and the MD-MPH but my portal only says MD-MPH program and I am getting worried I somehow only applied to the MD-MPH.

Hmm I applied to both and I have both on my portal, you might want to check with them. If you hit view your app status at the top mine says in blue letters "MD and MD-MPH Program".

I am having the same issue because I thought I applied to both but now only see MD-MPH. Did you figure this out?
