Hi, everyone, I got really confused by the number of accounts I need to create for my application. After submitting my secondaries, they send me an email to activate some student account? I did but was unable to check my application status, I just wanted to know if they receive my recommendation letter.....It is definitely one of the most confusing and complicated application systems I have ever used.....

Please read "The most common issue is apostrophes being changed to question marks. If you are using apostrophes, please check to make sure they do not change to question marks after exiting the application." I submit my application and then realize that all my apostrophes change to question marks. I swear I check several times, RIP.......Now my application will be down to the drain..... Wanna cry.......
Same thing happened to me. And i followed directions, like wrote everything on Notepad, then copied back to the portal.

I don't think this will affect our apps negatively though! I'm sure the screeners are used to seeing this sort of thing.

Does anyone know if your Vitals setup has anything to do with the time you're considered "complete?" There were issues while creating my account; I was complete much sooner than when my vitals account was set up.

hey guys interviewing on wednesday and still have not gotten a link to my zoom meeting. was wondering how long before your interview you got the email w/ meeting info. should i reach out to admissions? bit worried.

They should send you the link to your general information session the day before, and then the links to your individual interviews the day of the actual interview. I got mine about an hour before the interview day started and had some time to look up my interviewers.

I am having a hard time accessing my secondary application on the OSU website. Does anyone remember if they asked a question about gap year plans?

Unfortunately, if I remember correctly, they did not have a specific question about gap year plans. I had to mention it in one of my prompts and it was a slightly awkward transition

did anyone on here who interviewed already get a paper in the mail stating a different decision date (oct 15) instead of the one they were told on interview day? i was a bit confused

No, I interviewed on the 15th and they gave me a sticker or something that said check vitals on Oct 15th. what is your decision date in the mail?

it was a pretty cool pen right?

Do they send II's via email or is it through VITALS? also

Is anyone else obsessively refreshing VITALS and their email for IIs? Idc about any other school I just wanna go here

Can confirm it's a great campus, did my undergrad here and if I could go back for med school I would!

Does OSU send everyone the thank you note? Some schools send out "likely acceptances" to a few candidates before the official day, so just wondering if this is one of those.

Pretty sure everyone gets it.

Damn that kinda sucks if you get one of these then aren't accepted lol
idk, the way I think about it is like sending a thank you note to one interviewer and not the other. It would just be disrespectful IMO.

Complete 7/27, radio silence. feelsbadman.jpg

52X, 3.9X, LM 76, IS and current undergrad
Complete 7/18, similar stats and IS, and I work for the OSU hospitals and also radio silence 😂 rip, just trying to tell myself to stay patient at this point

I’ve heard that they only do a set number of IS applicants in every interview wave so that could be it. As long as you haven’t committed murder I’m sure as IS with a 52X you’ll get an II 😂

also IS, LizzyM 71 still nothing complete with secondaries 8/20. does anyone speculate after this first round of acceptances on 10/15 there will be more movement for interviews since the committee is probably busy making decisions or is this wishful thinking?

Just from what I’ve seen, a lot of the IIs from past cycles before October have been a lot of the 52X/URM applicants.

Anyone know how many acceptances they gave out in the past on decision day? Do many people deferred eventually get in?

I applied to Ohio State at the absolute end of my list on a whim, but it has since become one of my favorite medical schools, and I seriously appreciate the effort they put into every student, so definitely hoping from an acceptance here.

Not sure about deferred students specifically, but in April (I think) the deferred list turns into a wait list and roughly half of the class comes in off of the waitlist.

Oh what. Dang, that's unfortunate (short-term anyway). Means probably not a lot of A's this Friday.

They end up accepting like 60 or 70 percent of the people they interview so I wouldn’t count yourself out

I wish I knew how much of the initial interview pool gets in Oct. 15th, but I guess they don't really share that haha.

Btw, anyone notice that the MSAR interview data and the USNR data is completely different. Almost all schools its the same of very close. Anyone have an explanation?

my answer to all these types of questions: I don't care about USNWR

Can it be wrong though? I thought schools report their data directly to USNWR (so it should be factually accurate) and a lot of people on SDN use this information to determine post-II acceptance rate for in-state and OOS.

I refer to this link:

I understand that you care deeply about rankings. Best verified data comes from AAMC and MSAR, but not all schools thoroughly update their MSAR data each year.

My regard for rankings has nothing to do with my question. @TheDataKing was a rather large promoter of this sheet during his time here (or at least, he posted it often), and he was the mod for the OSU 2020-21 thread. Thank you for the information in your second sentence.

I'm not against this data spread sheet and some people enjoy using it. But since I don't know where the numbers on it come from, I don't personally reference it.

Ah, got it. @TheDataKing made it along with @Teletubby and has said that he gets it from USNWR, so the numbers should be factually accurate. For almost all schools they are, but there's a few exceptions. The most recent update is here:

Edit: My fault, I accidentally clicked the wrong school. OSU's data on here is accurate.

Yeet. I pulled the data straight from USNWR and schools report the data directly to USNWR -- there could be some errors because I manually entered all of the data but I found it intriguing to look at during my cycle so I've kept it updated for the past 3

Thank You so much for your contributions! Turns out I was the one who made the mistake. Just a question- is this available to all USNWR subscribers? Like if I bought a USNWR sub right now, could I be able to access all of this as well?

yep!

Anyone know what time Friday we will receive our initial decisions?
Also, do we get a phone call if we're accepted? Either last year or the year before, I saw all accepted students received a call.
