I interviewed in January and I remember them saying we'd probably hear by March if we were accepted and if we were wait listed/rejected we'd find out first week in April

Also interviewed in January! I remember them saying something about 2-6…this waiting is the worst!
 
I looked on last year's thread for unc and it seemed they posted a lot more. Just want the person who checks here everyday and keeps the portal open and refreshes it multiple times a day to know that you are not alone. I'm certainly right there along with you! Lol
 
this might be a stupid thought but assuming all else is equal and your interview went well i wonder if interviewing with adcom members of high influence (ie the chair or assoc dean of admissions) is advantageous 🤔

I would imagine that this is why they have so many people interview applicants, to mitigate influential members from just getting whoever they want in. I'm sure it happens in some instances where somebody knows somebody but I would bet money most everyone has an equal voice. This could also be an overly optimistic, rose-colored hopeful view.
 
considering the 2-6 week business January interviewees were told, are we expecting most of the remaining A’s to be send this tuesday or next?

Interviewed in November and still haven't heard back. A lot of people from Sept/Oct also waiting for decisions, so I believe they'll have more releases coming in early-mid March, but not next week because Monday is a holiday

this could be wishful thinking but i think it’s possible that some A’s go out this week bc 2 yrs ago ppl got acceptances the day after president’s day

As speculated earlier, they meet on Mondays and release decisions on Tuesday.
Well, we definitely won't be upset if they release decisions after president's day lol

UNC is not closed tomorrow- my sister goes there, they have classes.
 
Current students (MS1s/MS2s): is it feasible to spend a few days per week at home studying? How often does UNC force you to come in for mandatory crap versus letting you just watch recorded lectures?

I don’t think anyone was accepted the Tuesday after Presidents’ Day last year. There was one person who posted on that day, but he was actually accepted several weeks before

MS4 now, but depends on the block. We do a lot of small group exercises, though some blocks do them more than others (some once or twice per week, hematology had them almost every day). But we have patient centered care (learning clinical skills) and social & health systems every week so you have to be in person at least two days per week and some weeks every day. You can skip lectures and watch the recordings though if you want.
 
If they said 2-6 weeks then hopefully some people should hear back this week, I'm pretty sure that this week is 6 weeks from the first interview post-winter break

So its kind of like every block you will need to be in person 1-2 days (PCC+SHS), some blocks 5 days (due to small group)... what would you say is an average week? 2, 3, 4 days mandatory per week?

Current MS1 here! Like @alibon said, it depends on the block. Right now, we are in the Renal Block and we have had a lot of small group activities (which are mandatory) in order to help us reinforce the material learned during the lecture. During Pulmonology, we had fewer small groups but there was one week where we had to come in basically everyday. Each block is different and based off of feedback from previous years. PCC and SHS are in-person as well but I got lucky and have both classes on the same day! So your schedule will vary each week and each block. I will say that the majority of our class watches lecture from home or on-campus somewhere other than the lecture hall so you can really tailor your studying to what best fits your needs.

On average, you're looking at 3 days mandatory per week but it is usually not bad considering that the mandatory sessions last between 1-2 hours.

For those accepted, if you had two students conduct the traditional interview portion, was it one of them who called? I keep reading faculty members call - but legit everyone who interviewed me (even the MMIs) were students so idk what that means lol
 
Does anyone know if Carolina has historically ever released decisions on a day other than Tuesday? I know it’s usually Tuesday but was wondering if anyone has scoped out previous years of UNC threads and found this out before I go do it.
 
On last years forum, it looks like a lot of movement happened on March 2nd and 9th (both Tuesdays) and looks like the waitlist email went out March 12th (Friday). So if it tracks the same which who knows if it actually will, the next two Tuesdays, 1st and 8th, will probably see a lot of post of A's being given out and the 11th will be the waitlist.

Kind of a late reply, but for me I usually have something required 4 or 5 days out of the week consistently. It's rare that I only have to come to campus for 3 days. That's factoring in exams, labs, small groups, skills sessions, SHS and PCC. Everyone's schedule is slightly different because people have PCC and labs on different days. So you might get lucky and only have to be on campus for like 3 days. The commute to campus is probably the most annoying part as the bus system has become very unreliable this past year due to worker shortages, and there is limited parking on campus.

I have not :/ but if they’re at January interviews already I’m sure some December people will hear this week
 
Are we still expecting a majority of decisions to be released next week? Including post-II waitlist and such?
