2022-2023 George Washington

Yes. I have no A's and one waitlist.

Totally get how you're feeling. I have two waitlists and waiting on one school regarding interview decision.

Also to you both—it’s crazy early and most of my friends who are now doctors (I’m a lot older than the avg applicant) continue to share with me that they had no interviews or acceptances at this point. You’re in a great place. There are almost 5 months left before people commit to schools. January, February, March is still crazy interview season for most schools.

Chiming in for community here, sitting on 3 WLs and no A’s yet, but still a handful to hear back from, luckily.

I promise here and now to see you all on rounds someday!
Love how supportive and collaborative this thread has been ❤️

I only had two interviews so far this cycle, GW being my ultimate choice. One Waitlist and haven’t heard from GW yet. Having to reapply is a real worry, financially and mentally. So nice being able to come here and feel better. Everyone here is so worthy! Don’t let a university decision affect your self worth.

Did anyone receive a thank you letter from gw after the interview?

If we get put on waitlist after an interview there is nothing we need to do right? Like some schools make you confirm you want to be on the waitlist? Does GW require this? I can't find it anywhere on the poral.

No, nothing to do but wait 🙁

I read through past SDN threads and it seems like they will send an email sometime early next year to ask you to confirm wanting to stay on the waitlist.

question for those who have sent update/loci - when you go to the application portal, can you see the document you uploaded as a pdf like you see your secondary app? I got an email after uploading my update, but can't see it as a pdf and was just wondering. Thanks!

Is the GW student panel mandatory? Or is attendance considered in the admissions process?

Probably super late for an answer but no. They’re just student panels for you to ask questions. The students don’t have bearing on admissions.

Does anyone get straight R's from GW? Like without a hold? Or do they put most everyone on hold?

People have been reporting getting Pre-II r's. Online they say after an interview the options is A, WL, or R so

was the in-person event invite sent to all interviewees who are awaiting a final decision?

I got the email and I have not interviewed yet. I received a II but not sure I'm going to do it so it might have gone to all applicants?

I've been on hold since August. Does anyone know if GW sends IIs in Jan? Deciding whether it's worth it to send a letter of interest/update letter
I believe they interview through March so definitely send an update if you have an update

I am not sure if this is the correct forum to post this; but I'll ask anyway (Mods, please move this to the appropriate forum if required).
I will be attending GW Med. School starting in 2024 (via BS/MD Program) and I am trying to shadow various disciplines over this summer'23. My aim is to get exposure to help make Residency choices (I know, this is way into the future..but I like taking baby steps).

Does anyone know how I could achieve such shadowing at GW or the immediate surrounding area (VA-DC-MD)?

I know this was probably discussed earlier in the feed but it's painful to look through 21 pages for info... can anyone who has interviewed provide insights into their interview? Was it conversational, traditional, or more of a grilling? thanks in advance!

interviewer was nice and respectful but seemed to have a set list of questions, very direct, not really any follow ups (that I can remember at least?), more of a one way question-answer type of interview, not much of a conversation. Had time for 2-3 questions at the end during which I actually learned a good bit about them. Quick interview overall, think mine went a few minutes over

Started out pretty traditional, interviewer asking me some questions about my experiences (it was closed file so I think they just wanted some context) with maybe some more interesting follow up questions. After about 15 minutes became much more conversational, we really just talked about anything, my favorite books, my family, interviewer’s career, then had time for a couple of my questions at the end. Overall pretty chill

All depends on the personality of your interviewer. Mine was more grilling meaning it was not very conversational but more question after question. It was cut off exactly at 30 minutes. So I would prepare for something conversational but also prepare for a more cold and straightforward interviewer so you're not thrown off.

thank you !

Has anyone had to wait >8 weeks for their admissions decision? I just passed 8 weeks and given the time of year I’ll probably give it another week since this one kind of doesn’t count. I’m only a little confused because people who interviewed weeks after me have gotten both As and WLs, but I have heard nothing. By end of next week, should I maybe email admissions if I don’t get anything? Thanks in advance for any thoughts!

I’ve seen multiple people waiting longer than 8 weeks for a decision, usually I think maximum 9-10 weeks. Especially because of the holidays, expect some delays. I also just wouldn’t reach out to admissions, just wait and it will come. I’m waiting for my decision as well 🙂

I am sure no one knows for sure but is it a good/bad sign if i was complete in July and have heard literally nothing? Like why wasn’t I put on hold? Does it mean i’ll probs never hear anything from GW at this point
