No they haven’t indicated that we’re interviewing for waitlist positions. I see a lot of people saying that in the comments but I haven’t specifically heard anything from someone at the U that this is the case.
People who interviewed in December and after received an email yesterday that states no more acceptances will be given out until May 1st. Only waitlist or rejection decisions will be sent out periodically starting soon. While it does not explicitly state that we interviewed for a waitlist position, and that certainly was not conveyed during my interview in December, people are interpreting this email to imply that we interviewed for a waitlist position. Although I applied to and only interviewed for Twin Cities, so I am not sure if this is applicable to Duluth. For me, my email also stated that my application was still under Final Review. In my opinion the email was purposefully vague so as to not imply we had actually interviewed for a waitlist spot even if we did but I'm not sure. So, in my mind this means I either interviewed for a waitlist spot or will have to way till May 1st (which would be almost 5 months) for an acceptance decision if I am not waitlisted or rejected before then.

I see where you’re coming from and I think your thinking makes sense. Truth is, I’m not sure myself since it was never explicitly stated by someone from the U what spots we are interviewing for. Since my interview was just a couple of days ago, the waiting time for me is less than your 5 months, but the rolling basis of admissions does put me at a disadvantage. However, I’m still choosing to stay optimistic while we all have to play the waiting game.

Hi, I am an IS applicant with strong ties and interviewed for the Indigenous Health Pathway on November 2. I was waitlisted on December 9. Thank you for helping to confirm that you have also been waitlisted at Duluth. That makes me feel a lot better about my chances of receiving an acceptance. This is my first choice program and I let my interviewers know that. They told me that I am a really great fit for the program and that they are interested in doing research with me, although they want to prioritize Native American applicants, understandably. I am trying to remain optimistic about receiving good news this May or June since this program aligns with my future career and life goals. Has anyone else applied for the Indigenous Health Pathway and were you interviewed? I will post this in both group threads. Thank you ❤️

Something interesting I found on the prior sdn thread was that TC secondary mentioned that they will not send out anymore IIs when they fill the class. Not sure if they are doing that for this cycle.

Do you think they’re sending these decisions out chronologically by interview date? Or more random?

Just got an email titled “accepted student information” even though I was WL’ed…

uhhh mine was titled “decision letter”. Cue neurotic panic lol

Hmmm, now I’m wondering if that means I got off the WL but it’s way too soon since they said not until May. Idk at this point. I tried to call but got the voicemail

For those previously waitlisted, the accepted email was an error

Brutal! Thanks for letting us know though. Hopefully your WL turns into an A! They were just manifesting for you. Helping you visualize that acceptance email :')

Thanks! It’s even more messed up for candidates who might be awaiting umn specifically.

Is there any hope left for those of us who have had radio silence since we submitted our secondaries looks like they have sent some pre-II R’s, so I’m still holding out hope since I haven’t gotten one, especially since their admissions seems to be a mess this cycle…

Does anyone have any insight into where people who didn't receive decisions on December 9th or February 15th stand? Does the lack of acceptances until May mean that the class has already been filled (with people who interviewed through the first week of December) or that they have just chosen to hold further acceptance offers to give later interviewees a fair shot?

Re: interviews for those of you who haven’t heard anything. I’m pretty sure that the last interviews for the Twin Cities campus were held this morning. Duluth still has 2 weeks of interviews to go, but I believe they are booked. At this point in the cycle, additional interviews are unlikely.

If this is anything like previous cycles (which it seems is the case), they have most likely extended enough acceptances to fill the class. They will send additional acceptances as people choose other schools, potentially in April but most probably in May. The remaining number of acceptances to go out really varies from year to year, and will depend on how many people drop UMN from this point on.

If people who interviewed December onward were interviewing for WL positions only, I really think they should have told us that considering that some of us had to take time off work to interview and maybe would have reconsidered if we knew our chances were just to maybe get added to a list that we mayyybee will get off of. idk I'm annoyed but fingers crossed I guess

Good point, I wish they had let us know

Im telling myself they didnt plan for things to end up like this (hard to believe when it is the third time its happening) to feel better about them telling us straight up that we were interviewing for a seat lol

Same! I really liked this school and was excited by the II and really enjoyed the interview but finding this out is really clouding my judgement when it comes to transparency

Could we re-fill out the feedback form to let them know? I would hate for this to keep happening even though they know its something they need to work on.

I interviewed for Duluth and Twin Cities in October and was put on the waitlist for both in December and February respectively. Anyone know when the ranked waitlist is expected to come out? Hoping that list this brings some clarity on my odds.

UMN admissions has been something of a mess for at least a few years now. They've been chronically behind and it looks like that didn't change this year.

All hope is not lost but there will likely be little movement until May. Even then it can still take time to get an A. I received mine May 12th two years ago and I've heard an anecdote (completely unconfirmed) of someone in my class receiving one after orientation had started.

Yeah the waiting is so brutal especially for those of us waiting on our first MD acceptance. Ive been accepted to a solid DO program but the tuition is crazy high compared to MN so fingers crossed they dont take too long to get back to us after May🤞🏻
