2022-2023 UC - San Diego

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Just wanted to give anyway peace of mind if possible! I received my UCSD secondary invite July 5th and submitted on July 26th. Then, I received my II on August 25th and completed it on September 29th. I received my offer on Friday, October 25th around 2 pm. It seems that rejections and waitlists are sent around 1 pm PST and acceptances are sent around 1:30-2 pm. All communication is sent via email.

That being said, here are detailed stats about my application to hopefully give you some hope and future applicants some insight:

Does anyone know how much waitlist movement there is or how many people usually get off?

Also just got a hold for a II. Secondary completed Mid November, OOS. Is this a soft-R?

Pre-II hold just now. What does this even mean for this school? lol

Edit: Soft R! Got it haha

joining that hold party, complete late September. oh well.. gg

Also, pre-II hold complete 7/31. There seems to have been a large wave of holds today. Perhaps they've filled all the seats?

I wonder how many people actually pass up ucsd after an acceptance? Or if people even pass it up? I’m sure ucsd already filled their class or are close to filling it

a lot of people get in to multiple top schools. im not one of them for sure and i see ucsd as the dream school but for other ppl there are better schools who come calling

I'm 100 percent sure the class is not filled. Ucsd is an amazing school, but of the "top 20s", it's toward the back end. A lot of applicants want to go to the highest ranked school they get into, so UCSD gets some rockstars who didn't get into any "better" top 20. I personally would go to ucsd over Harvard but I freaking love SD. Just my two cents.

Just got an interview for PRIME on march 7th, do you guys know if the PRIME students and regular students are under the same body? or are they separated in acceptance and class size?

They are part of the class however take other course work for the masters. You also need to be accepted to each separately.

Your interview in March will only be for acceptance as a "regular MD" student. After that, you will recieve a secondary interview invite for PRIME. Even if you don't get into PRIME, you're still accepted as a student for the MD program
