Your interview in March will only be for acceptance as a "regular MD" student. After that, you will recieve a secondary interview invite for PRIME. Even if you don't get into PRIME, you're still accepted as a student for the MD program
wait what, there are two interviews for PRIME applicants? my one and only II is scheduled for feb and the website says it'll be an mmi. just like regular MD applicants. i think it's only GHAC that has a totally separate admissions process

The last time I checked, there are 2 separate interviews.

If you applied to PRIME and have recieved an interview it should read something like "UCSD PRIME Interview Invite" or something along those lines. That interview is MMI and is *only* for the traditional path. Meaning that if you get accepted you're good for the traditional path. After you recieve that A, you will get a secondary invitation to interview for the PRIME interview. So even if you're not accepted to PRIME, you can still enroll via the traditional track.

You won't get an official PRIME interview until after the first MMI interview.

Hello everyone. I received a PRIME interview today. It says its for the school of medicine and the whole "congratulations on your interview". However, does that mean I qualify as a medical student if accepted? Or am I simply going to be accepted into their masters. The PRIME program was attached to my medical school secondary application and I do want to pursue it as well , but I also would like to obtain my MD. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you! I wanted to ask here before sending them an email for clarification.

Look at my comments above and hopefully that clears some confusion!

UCSD does their PRIME interviews slightly different than other schools so that might be were all the confusion is coming from

Hey I saw your comments about the two seperate interviews but I was confused because I got asked to interview to PRIME first before being interviewed for standard MD? In both comments it appeared like you get a standard MD interview and then a PRIME interview. But so far I got my prime first. Not sure if the order matters. I was just wondering if I do well on this interview if I should expect to interview again. 😳

It's not the PRIME interview. It's for the traditional. It just says PRIME in the title to classify you as a PRIME applicant

Does anyone know the chance of acceptance after interview?
About a 1/3rd. UCSD doesn't consider in-state vs. out-of-state for post-interview decisions (only considers it for getting an interview call). Please remember though that the estimated post-interview acceptance rates are including those that get off of the waitlist at the end, so true post-interview acceptance rates in the moment will be lower than a 1/3rd.

Per the certiphi email, you will receive the background check if you have been waitlisted or accepted.

Also, I know its different for every school, but do you guys think they base your acceptance on interview impression only or do they pull up your stats and look at you as a whole? I know some schools once you get an interview they don't look at any of that and just base everything off the interview. Im curious how UCSD works.

UCSD is MCAT-blind when they select apps for interview invites but look at your MCAT post-interview so it does seem to matter. However I think that UCSD is a lot more holistic than other comparable schools since their stat ranges are pretty wide according to MSAR, so tbh there is no way to know how much they weigh stats vs. other parts

Quick question for others who have been accepted/waitlisted at ucsd. Is it normal to have gotten a certiphi email prior to the school contacting you? Just want to know if I should start lowering my hopes for this Friday's wave 😔...

Certiphi comes when you were either accepted or waitlisted at a school, so I wouldn’t lose any hope at all! Congrats, you (likely) didn’t get outright rejected 🙂🎉

Kinda yikes for those coming out before decisions are released tho lol

Per the email “You have received this email because you have been waitlisted or conditionally accepted by one or more of the medical schools participating in the AAMC-facilitated program for performing criminal background checks on conditionally accepted applicants and waiting list applicants.”

Ah I should've been clearer lol. I meant more as a is it a bad sign that I have NOT received a certiphi email yet?
Sane question here- are those that got the certiphi email still waiting on decisions from SD? And are you’re sure that it is because of SD that you’re getting the email?

Ah my bad I totally misunderstood! No I don’t think so either; the only other person that reported getting it seemed to be waiting on at least 1 more school as well so it could be that!

Any 12/20 interviewees hear back yet?? Their post-interview email said we should hear back by the end of today 😬

yea what time of the day did y’all get ur decisions?? bc i’m currently refreshing my email every 30 min 🙂

+2 I know they said they would do post-II rejections but it doesn't look like there have been any post-II Rs in this thread. but people might be hesitant to post?

WL today… What are the statis for waitlist? How many get accepted from waitlist?

I've only seen a few post-II R's in this thread - but I agree, it's likely underreported here in this thread.

I've seen posts saying anywhere between 10-20% come off WL. Using MSAR 2021, it reported 35/300 came off WL = ~12% WL->A conversion.

So since I'm on this train of thought...
Using last year's UCSD 2022 data, 793 II led to 300 WL*, so the II->WL conversion is ~38%. *However, MSAR 2021 reported a total of 870 II. So technically, 870 II led to 300 WL, and the II->WL conversion is ~35%. I'll safely give II->WL a range of 35-38%.

Continuing to use a mix of both MSAR and UCSD data, 793 II -> 243 A (assuming +35 from WL), the II->A conversion is ~31%. Historically I've seen people report 30%, and in previous post-II result threads on here the number is around 36-37%. So the II->A range is 30-37%, with a mean & median of 33.5% if we were to use these four numbers.

I'm probably doing this wrong and using bad numbers lmao

For anyone who has done the MMI, are we allowed to take notes during the 2 minutes of reading the scenario section? Thank you so much!
