2022-2023 UT Southwestern (UTSW)

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
MD/MPH Info sessions for current and future applicants who are interested in a MPH:

if y’all are interested in fees, they haven’t published them yet for MD/MPH. They will be sending a follow up email at some point with more details about cost but say that they will be the cheapest in Texas

Update: Long takes the lead as number 4 and UTMB drops to number 5 after the most recent Tell All exposé
Beach for 4 years trumps one person's expose. Frankly, it felt like a lot of complaining about service work they were not aware of ahead of time.

Since no admin is addressing those complaints here, someone interviewing in the near future should read out that statement in the group meeting and ask the admins to address and report back in SDN.

Also, I doubt that UTSW would fill their class with the first round of prematches. They haven't sent prematches to Captain Nemo or Skep yet. Until then, we all have a chance.
I'm so down for this, and appreciate you putting that thought out in the wind for a fella! Right back at you brethren! This one and Baylor are yours... just a matter of time!

That would be a bold move on the part of the interviewee!

Whole point of giving people a chance to ask questions right? Why are current students writing bad reviews for your school, what is going on?
I totally agree! I just wouldn't ask them myself lol. I'm the one always asking about the school's plans for Step 2 prep and other seemingly uncomfortable questions. I always get weird replies and immediately regret asking, but they say ask everything, and I want to know what the admin has planned, rather than asking students who can't know more than them. I haven't gotten a single direct response to more challenging questions yet. My guess is if someone asked about what that student wrote, it wouldn't go over well, even though it would be a fair question since it is out there in the public eye.

One thing I've disliked about school's Q&A sessions is how 90% of it is useless since students ask such basic/cookie cutter questions (things easily found on the website or things that are just not important) just for brownie points with the admin. I've asked questions similar to you, and I usually only get a 10 second response with no detail and it feels awkward.

Is UTSW done sending out II's?
They have at least one more round if not more.

In theory, when a school is done sending out all their interview spots, they will send a note to all the rest notifying them their interview slots are filled/interview season complete. If they are sending out before the last interview date, they may keep a few on standby in case of drop outs and release everyone else.

Agreed! I always wonder if applicants asking those kinda questions are seeking brownie points, or really haven't read up on the school and are just winging their interviews lol.

Wish we can get this prematch wave over today. I don't want to be stressed out over Thanksgiving Break lol
The hardest part of the long application cycle is definitely answering questions from those distant relatives who don't understand the med school process.
Chin up, pass the potatoes and change the subject!

These things will come when you least expect it! My girlfriend was literally using my phone to look at cute crochet videos when an email came in for UTMB. You just have to give it some time!

Seems like no more for today. Maybe some hope for a mini wave next week before the holiday break? Fingers crossed.
