Are all the med school facilities (library, study spaces, lecture halls etc.) constructed yet?

So the brand new building won't be done until our third year at the earliest (but who knows if they are able to actually stick to that timeline; they haven't even broken ground yet). In the meantime, we'll be in the health science center and they have a library and some study spaces. We also toured the area where we'll be doing standarized patients as well as the VR anatomy center. Not sure about lectures halls tho. I think we'll just be in the various classrooms they have which are definitely large enough to hold 40 students.

Am sure they can do classes on UT tyler regular classrooms in the mean time, didactic labs are more important and those seem to be in place already.

From my understanding all classes will be held at the health science center in the brand new public health building, however, I could be mistaken. They never mentioned going to UT Tyler

I keep forgetting that the class size is only 40 lol. That could fit in a mediums-sized classroom lol

Yeah their classrooms are fairly large. Maybe in the new building they'll include a lecture hall? I'm sure the class size may increase in the next few years, but who knows.

Classes will be at the academic center at UT north, they have a large lecture hall, many smaller classrooms and are renovating the first floor of the adjacent hospital for simulation exercises. Cadaver lab is the only thing at the midtown campus but they said we won’t use that as frequently as we will use digital models!

That was something I needed to get clarified. So we are going to have some work with cadavers, but it will be mostly VR?

Yeah, cadaver work will be for surgical dexterity but we would be using literal VR for some stuff as well as anatomy “tables” which are big screens!

Letters of interest to this school should probably be sent after January 29th (end of the pre-match period) but before Match Day if we don't receive a pre-match? Is that the rule of thumb?

II today at 1:30pm. Complete 8/2 I was in the middle of another interview when i got the notification from them lol. Next available dates were in January though unfortuantely
Do you have ties

I have a question in general about Texas schools. So prematch offers can be done anytime before the match right?

@LCA there is a lot of educational material on the TMDSAS site to explain the Match and Prematch.
Prematch offers can only be made up to January 29.

Start here #336 and click all the links/watch the videos.

More about prematch here: #337

Thank you. I read up on it.

I would put money that it's going to be mostly A's and WLs, I doubt they'll send too many rejections until match!
true, most TMDSAS schools will let the applications ride and let Match Day be their rejector

So if I understand correctly, UT Tyler is a very prematch-heavy school that will prematch almost its entire class in December? And anyone who interviews before that date, even by a week, can prematch?

I believe that is the general consensus

I saw in a Q&A that the director of admissions did that said the reason they are sending so many pre-matches is because they want East Texans. Is it safe to say if we are not from an East Texas county we will be waiting until March Day?

I dont think it matters who they are sending prematches to. Their matrix is 25% biased towards the region already so the overwhelming number of admissions will be biased towards regional mission with that kind of weight.

I feel like if you’ve beat the odds and gotten an interview as an out-of-region applicant, you’re eligible for a prematch.

Thank you everyone. Felt really down after hearing that but hopefully I hear back in December along with the rest of you who are waiting!
For reference with the numbers on their website:

Current interview chances: about 2.7% (4200 applicants and 115 interviews). You already got that far!!!
