for those who got accepted in December, did you all get any forms or pre-matriculation requirements yet aside from the school tour RSVP?

My interview is coming up next week and I’m wondering if anyone who’s already interviewed could provide any advice/tips?? Thank you!! 🙂

If you go back to the earlier posts on this thread, you should be able to find some general advice/tips. Good luck 🙂

Just got an interview today (woohoo)!! But when I went to schedule my interview date, there were no available dates on their calendar lol. Did this happen to anyone else? I'm assuming I just need to call them.

Does anyone know if the information session on the interview day is mandatory?

II invite today !! A little confused though- they didn't let me choose a date? I just got a random email saying my interview was scheduled for March 1. Prob have to call them about it tomorrow... Has this happened to anyone else?

Yeah same thing happened to me, when I called them they said they would send me another email when everything was figured out. But I just got an email that said I was scheduled for March 1.....?? when I never chose that date

I was looking at the previous year's thread. what do they mean by tabs? is that something that shows up on the app portal only for ppl that got an A? also, if I am interviewing on Jan 12, does that mean I should receive a decision around the listed Feb 1 date?

Does anyone know when VCU's Commit to Enroll deadline is? Like the deadline when we have to officially commit to VCU and withdraw from all other waitlists?

The portal doesn't have those same tabs this year. On your decision day, there's an "Admissions Decision" tab that pops up in the portal, but there's also an email sent out. And yes I think you'll most likely hear back on February 1st.

The deadline is July 1st, but you can commit starting on May 2nd I believe.

Received an interview invite yesterday, anyone able to schedule an interview? Mine still looks like there are no available dates to schedule one

But it has to be before committee meeting right?
It might factor into waitlists or something, so I don't think there's any harm in sending one now. Also, there was quite a few people who interviewed in September who didn't hear back for the October acceptance date and instead heard back in December, so it could possibly still help even if you think your decision date has passed.

Does anyone know if OOS students can become VA and get IS tuition after the first year? I am trying to roughly calculate how much my COA would be if I used received financial aid without any grants/scholarships

At my EVMS interview they said basically no unless you get married to a VA resident lmao

Would you venture the document upload tab is a safe place to add a LOI? I wish they had a central adcom email to check with

Edit: actually nvm I just saw the FAQ and I'll just wait till I'm formally WL I guess before a last ditch effort, thank you though!

aside from actual interviewing tips, the interview itself is very relaxed and conversational despite being a MMI in my experience

dr. whitehurst-cook actually leads you in a meditation/breathing exercise before the interview starts, and it really helped me and other applicants start off strong

This meditation was my fave thing from all my interviews this cycle!

Question: if you were interviewed and received a hold, does that mean I will not receive a rejection? Assuming I don't get an acceptance on these next two dates, will I just be sent to the waitlist or do I have to keep an eye out for a potential rejection?

If you don’t get an acceptance on the next two days, you will be put onto a waitlist or rejected after March 15th

Have there been any Pre-II R's? Been waiting in silence since August

Can anyone share the interview format (how many mmi stations there are, how long each station is)? The only information I could find is that there is no note-taking allowed during the mmi

It's in the confirmation email after you picked your date.

"The MMI process will consist of seven questions. The first question is a traditional-style interview question and will be asked by all of the interviewers. You will have 2 minutes to read the question and prepare your thoughts and 14 minutes for interaction with an interviewer. Questions two through seven are designed to help assess an applicant's attributes in the following areas: integrity, ethical and moral judgment, cultural sensitivity, communication and management skills, problem solving and conflict resolution and teamwork. You will have 2 minutes to read the question and 7 minutes for interaction with an interviewer."

hey, I was looking for an FAQ for letters of interest and could not find any info. what did they say about when and how to submit a letter of interest? I was going to do an update letter/letter of interest by tomorrow because my committee meeting will be on Monday.

Edit: I just saw the application portal FAQ. they said "ONLY at the request of the Admissions Committee. Otherwise, please DO NOT submit additional materials or updates." how would we submit letters of interest and or update letters to them. Or do LOIs not fall under that category?

I am not an expert in the matter - but my understanding was that if it’s before your committee meeting an update is ok - but this is based off of my memory from months ago so I’m not entirely sure - good luck!

Hey guys so I submitted my LOI last night and the portal said submission successful but I didn’t receive a confirmation email. Is that normal or should I have expected an email? I’m asking bc I want to make sure they got my letter before the committee meeting on Monday.
I tried calling em but they didn’t pick up and one nice lady tried helping but she couldn’t confirm whether or not I should receive a confirmation email or not. Thanks

I did not receive a confirmation email and it seems like others who interviewed around the same time as me did not either (I say this because I think only the earlier interviewees received a confirmation email when adcom was less busy)

Received an interview invite jan 9th but only interview spot left was for March 9th, I have called them and left a message but no answer. Does this mean I am interviewing for waitlist spots?

I do not believe so, they fill 25% of the class per decision release date, and they vote every Monday, so you are still in the running for a spot in the class

so are interviews basically done for this school if they're scheduling until March? on a silent R since July! Sad but congrats everyone! <3
Based on last year’s thread, looks like a few people still got interviews in February. Realistically I’m not expecting anything at this point which sucks cuz I’m IS, still at 0 IIs which is super disappointing.

I'm a little confused about what they mean by this. Does this mean that the first station is 14 minutes, and the other six stations are 7 minutes, or that in each station, the first question you will be asked is a traditional-style interview question. Could anyone who has interviewed already please clarify, thank you so much!
