2023-2024 Jefferson (Kimmel)

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Do we have to meet the LOR requirements? How lenient is the school’s ADCOM on this matter?

Submitted 7/29 and says "Application is under review" today, does this actually mean anything in terms of a timeline? Will it mean some kind of response in a few days, or is it just an indefinite status marker between submission and some decision?

Did you email beforehand to get approval or did you just submit what you had?
I just submitted it. I read somewhere here or on Reddit that they aren't really strict about it, so I wasn't super stressed. MSAR say minimum 3 LORs

What if we don't have the recommended LOR. I barely know anyone with a physics or humanities letter that seems like an odd requirement.

Would you it’s too late to apply to Jefferson now? My fee would be more of a donation?

Received a secondary from them on 7/1, and this school just got lost in the shuffle for me. I just noticed that they have this statement:

To complete your application, please submit this form with your application fee within two (2)weeks.

Is it still worth applying?

I don't see where it says that. In my email it just says the final deadline is in January.

It wasn't on the email, it's in the application itself.
Do you think it really matters? I mean the email itself said January 1st was the deadline. It's not like they lock you out of the portal after 2 weeks.

2500 characters aren't enough for me in the first prompt. I wonder about writing more of that + why Jefferson in the optional space 🙁

Interview invite, IS, Complete 7/6, LM 68, strong ties, wrote a gap year plans + why jeff for optional essay, 6'1 185, bench 275, squat 405, conventional deadlift 485, 4.6 forty-yard dash, thrid grade spellling be champien, 2018/2019 back-to-back jersey shore spikeball titleholder, can throw 60 yards with tight spiral, pickleball king, 330 yard carry distance with my driver, and strikingly handsome (according to grandma & she never lies).

In all seriousness, good luck yall!!! Rooting for all of us to get into medical school. See you on the other side!!

This was quite shocking to me tbh. I was still within the 2 weeks but I assumed something like that would be in the email they sent, not exclusively on their portal. Not sure how "serious" it is... Kimmel says different things everywhere lol (ex. LOR requirements being 4, but then if you email them they say its 3 minimum).

Submitted 7/10…should I take that as a soft R or am I being overly neurotic? Does a human being read every application or can a computer screen you out?

Don’t think so plus in person interviews so they’re gonna be scheduled down in the cycle most likely

How did you guys answer this question:

“Do you have additional information that you would like to provide at this time? (4000 characters)”

How many of you answered it with a “Why Us” answer?

I did 1 brief paragraph for gap years plans, then spent a few more paragraphs for a Why Jeff. I heard Jefferson likes interest, esp since they have so many apps per cycle.

Would we be at a disadvantage if we don't write about "why jeff" in the second prompt? i am a reapp and i was considering just submitting what ive done since my last applicatoin

So if high stat applicants are getting IIs within like a day or two of submitting SK's definitely a stat heavy school i'm assuming

idk if i'd call them stat-heavy, i was complete 7/2 and am LM 82 and haven't heard anything. i feel like they're much more of a mission fit school especially because they get so many applications across a wide stat range

Does SKMC have any type of in-state preference? The II data on MSAR shows a bit better for PA residents, but the school themselves says no relationship required.

Maybe the school does not discriminate IS or OOS, if that's what they say. It could be that PA residents are just more likely to commit to enroll than other OOS students

Submitted 7/5 and nothing🤷‍♂, telling myself it's yield protection to cope.

Yeah no explicit preference and no in-state requirement on quota by law, but the MSAR data suggests there definitely exists a decent in-state preference (as is the case for almost all private schools) likely due to yield. OOS interview rate is less than half the in-state rate

They are definitely a mission fit school 100%
