2023-2024 Minnesota

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
On July 21, 2023, the University of Minnesota learned that a person was claiming to have posted on the Internet in July 2023 certain admissions and race and ethnicity information held in a University database. The University immediately initiated an investigation and promptly engaged forensics professionals to assess whether the claim was credible and to ensure the security of the University’s electronic systems. After an extensive investigation, the University determined that a person likely gained unauthorized access to a University database in 2021. This incident has not affected University operations.

Now I’m curious what the person posted and where it was posted. I also did not receive the email, so I wonder why only certain people received the notice. This whole thing is very strange …

I was just rejected as well, complete 8/2, OOS, 3.7 GPA, 511 MCAT

Has anyone who interviewed yesterday (9/26) received the post interview survey and link to submit virtual thank you notes yet?

Is anyone still waiting to hear back from the U after answering the rural/Indigenous questions??

is it too late to apply here? I got my secondary in August but due to all my other schools, being out of the country, working, and being knocked out with covid, I am just getting around to doing the secondary. I know the hard deadline is in november... I am OOS URM LM 64 (MCAT is what knocked me down) but i have lots of clinical experience and volunteering... any thoughts are appreciated!

Does this school interview applicants that were interviewed and rejected in the past?

Anecdotally I applied very early and interviewed in September on my first application and applied late and interviewed in February for my second. Don't recommend applying late but that's how I got my A, so there's always a chance.

Just my 2 cents, so take with a grain of salt - For most applicants I would say it's too late, but UMN spends a lot of time and effort recruiting URM students so they might prioritize evaluating your application. If you have a decent app (even w the low mcat), and you have the $$, I think it could still be worth sending it in.

Hello! For those who have interviewed, do they prefer that you have one of the UMN zoom backgrounds on during your interview? Or do most candidates just use their regular Zoom background? Thank you!
