TrojanMD, I was small pooled oct 13th (complete sep 25th-ish) also and got an interview for the 9th. If I were to guess, I'd say you would be in the next batch because I think they pretty much have all the people from 9/3 done. But these are just speculations.

I am going for the social the night before just because I am sucker like that..

Goodluck everyone

tbucky is correct...sooner the better for interview dates. i imagine that by late jan, the class is getting pretty full.

FYI, in speaking with former adcom members a couple years back, I was told that there is always room for a WI resident. What I mean is that if you are a WI resident, no matter when you interview it is for an acceptance/rejection (no waitlist). However, I would wait to hear someone confirm this before taking it as fact - My source is no longer part of the process (and hasn't been for some time).

***EDIT*** - apparently this is not accurate information. Maybe it is old, or I just don't remember correctly. Please disregard.

Any WI residents from the past waitlisted at MCW?

WI resident, waitlisted last year.

Was your application or interview late in the cycle?

Interviewed on the second to last interview day where they were still giving outright acceptances. I was complete sometime in September.

My apologies - Post has been edited. Thanks for the correction, and best of luck. This is your year😀

So the January 9th date has already filled up. So quickly! I guess I will be joining you all on January 23rd.

Just got back from the interview. I noticed two people went for a third interview while we had the wrap up session. Why do some have 3 and some have 2?

The third interview is usually reserved for situations when both interviews don't agree on how an applicant should be graded (for lack of a better term) and they are looking for a third opinion. This can also be used to ask certain questions that an interviewer meant to ask but did not get to or forgot to ask during the initial interview. A third interview is not the kiss of death, merely a time reserved for clarification.

thanks for explanation 🙂 So those of us who only had 2 interviews, it's not a bad thing then?

Yeah...no...I don't think it is a bad thing! I guess with the third interview at least the interviewee knows that one of the interviewers is in support of their application.

I interviewed today as well

I was one of those two. I'm glad I wasn't the only one.

any idea when the next round of invites are going out?

Hey all,
I'm locked for the 1/9 interview, does anybody know what the protocol is for submitting our fall grades?

huh? we have to send fall grades? It wasn't mentioned at interview day unless if I missed it

It's not required, I just wanted to keep my application as up to date as possible. No worries!

Once you are accepted, they will require official transcripts from every institution you have attended, upon completion of your degree (if currently enrolled). However, those are not due until sometime in the summer. Good luck everyone... 😀

ACCEPTED, first one 🙂

i was accepted this morning also. however, milwaukee is just too cold for me (8 degrees on our interview day, wtf?!) and i got into a school i would rather go to. so, i'll open up a spot for someone more interested! good luck all!

Me too. I guess that third interview isn't necessarily a bad thing.

Haha I guess if you had 3, you had a good chance of two supporters, where as if someone had 2, they might both be negative

That's a nice thing to do, but why did you fly to milwaukee and waste money? Unless if you just got accepted this week elsewhere, it just doesn't make sense.

actually, i was accepted to my first choice a few days after booking tickets and this was not the only interview that i was going on during this trip. additionally, i had a friend that was going to milwaukee with me who had already booked her tickets and a hotel. also, i am particularly interested in peds and i know that mcw has a very good peds hospital. so i wanted to check it out in case i ended up wanting to do a rotation there at some point if it was not offered at my institution. plus, it's always good to keep an open mind, and i had never been to the midwest, which is somewhere that my fiance and i could actually afford to buy a house. but, the midwest is definitely not for us and at this point i am done interviewing. some people complain that i "took someone elses' interview slot" but i believe that i deserve to go to every interview i am offered and make the most informed decision i can. and now i feel able to do that... so it was worth using some of my frequent flier miles etc.

does that make sense now?😉

A word to anyone who does not like cold weather and is considering any WI school- it is cold here. We actually had negative temperatures most of this past week with -10/-20 wind chills. 😱

It also snows. A lot. We are getting a storm today- anywhere from 3 inches to 12+ depending on where you live. Over the next week, they are saying we will have three to four days with snow.

But there is an upside: it is warmer when it snows. 😀

Thanks for opening up a spot- crazy as it may sound, I would love to stay in state! 😍

Yea that makes alot more sense now 🙂 I thought you must of been like fundermonkey and had too much money to burn

well i hope it works out for you, crelal. my friend is from wisconsin and i was forewarned but i just don't think you really get how cold it is until you've been there. anyway, i'm from oregon and we complain when it drops below 40. however, we're having a huge snow storm here (happens about once every 4-5 years) and it's in the 20s now. ugh!

and yeah, i think that when you work this hard to get to this point you gotta make sure you're happy with your decision. but i am. there are other great schools like mcw that i could go to, and i'm very thankful for that, but considering all factors it'll be best for me to stay in oregon. so i hope that you all have the opportunity to make a choice like i did. good luck again!

So, did you ever find a ride downtown or did you end up taking the bus? 😉

Congrats doubleE engineer! We could of been classmates 🙂 Right now MCW looks like it's going to be my only acceptance, so I'll probably be staying in Wisconsin for another 4 years. That would make it 15 years straight in WI 🙂

i apologise for asking this question a 1000 times but was wondering if any1 called the office and found out when the next invites are going out?...i know there were some out early dec....will they send some out b4 hols?
plus, how was the school? as in do they have accomodation for students on campus and whats milwaukee like?...i'm just curious ....never been to the states...and canada is freezing cold so i can imagine the weather conditions described here...

I too was accepted today. It's a great feeling. So Zenlike, have you made a decision between Wisconsin and South Alabama?

Well, I went to the interview with an open mind--I've been pleasantly surprised before. But, I'm going to go USA if I don't hear anything from Colorado.

As a side note, those 1 Gb thumb drives are pretty sweet little bit of schwank.

1- I can't tell you much about invites, but they do try to work as efficiently as possible (in my experience). Maybe someone else has some input here.

2- Do you mean accommodations during the interview or during school? During the interview they offer a student host opportunity. During the school year there are no dorms or anything, but the surrounding areas offer ample apartments, condos, or homes to buy.

3- The campus is actually about 7 miles west of Milwaukee in Wauwatosa. The school is free standing meaning there are no undergrads, and a limited number of other graduate students. The area is pretty laid back, and somewhat suburban (as opposed to "big city"). However, Milwaukee (a reasonable sized big city) is only a few minutes away, and there are students who live in downtown Milwaukee.

4- The weather is not terrible so long as you have experienced it before. Anything in Canada will likely trump Wisconsin's weather.

Any other questions? Hope it all goes well for you.

Notwithstanding the foot of snow we just got outside my apartment, resulting in the rescheduling of today's OSCE. Took a while to dig out my car.

I'm not from anywhere with any semblance cold weather, but I've learned to deal with it. However, this weather during interview season for residency sucks. I've had to change travel plans for 2 interview trips so far, but I've been able to make it to everything.

I guess I am just a native WI-ite. Currently living in IA, they get a lot more freezing rain and sleet. I will take 12 inches of beautiful snow any day, especially if the alternative is rain and ice. I can't wait to move back😀

Hawaii or Southern California sounds perfect right about now.

I reserve the right to complain about the cold for however long I am in cold weather. (cold = <72°F) 😀

Sounds about right.

Though, it's actually been pretty chilly in socal lately.

If cold = <72°F, I assume 72°F - ? is average. What is warm, and what is hot?

I would hate to see your heating bill😉

Hey everyone, I was complete Dec 3rd and just received the small pool email today. I'm OOS, 3.6/36. Do you think it's a good sign that I got the email so quickly - in less than 3 weeks? (Yes, I am grasping at straws here.) Or is it pretty much a foregone conclusion that my best hope is an waitlist interview, if I'm lucky?

Also, does "Any further review of your application will occur only if you are interviewed" mean it's pointless to send in my grades from this semester?

What does the bold part mean?

My heating bill is not bad because I set my apt thermostat to 68. It can get a good 15-20° cooler in my bedroom (no joke) -- it's literally painful. I walk around with sweaters, fuzzy socks/slippers, and sometimes gloves on.

I'm most comfortable in 80-90/low 100s. All DRY no humidity.

edit: 72F is where I put on a sweatshirt with shorts. My freshman year of college, most of my friends from home agreed that when we were cold. It does get a lot colder than that at home.

I was trying to establish where the normal temperature range was for you, and implying that in order to feel warm, you might be near melting.😉

I think I may be cold blooded, however, my wife is cold regardless of the temperature. Our apartment thermostat is set to 71, and she is still cold ALWAYS. I have to sweat in the car so that she can stop shivering. The heat is always on, full blast, until I turn the car off.😱

I like the cold.😍 It is refreshing.

Ahh. If it could be perpetually summer, I'd be happy. I have no problem with driving to the mountains to go snowboarding. That's normal.

Random question:

Is there a 24 Hour Fitness nearby (10-15 miles) MCW? Contemplating getting a 2 year membership for cheap...
