Thanks for the info.

I'm filling out those forms and the financial aid forms I found at

http://www.rosalindfranklin.edu/dnn...id/Forms/Applications/tabid/1963/Default.aspx

It would be nice if the school sent us these links in the acceptance email... Ah well, I still <3 you RFUMS 😀

Filling the forms out too here. When I got into SIU they sent me a bunch of forms via email about a week later to fill out. Made things a bit easier, but that's not stopping me filling out the RFU forms!

Hmm... I think I'll wait for an email to be sure this is the right one before I submit. Unlikely to have any sort of priority deadline, right?

yeah, i'm gonna wait a bit for this one too; i don't like needles.

i asked them about the deadline for this and the certiphi background check, and they said hand it in before orientation starts, so before aug 11 i think

I already did the background check, takes five minutes.

Housing???? I was accepted over a month ago, and I haven't heard a word about that from the school. 😱 All I got was the background check and an acknowledgment of my deposit.
So far, we've managed to find the housing, financial aid, and immunization forms. I wonder if theres anything else we should know about?

Hey I got an email this morning saying my housing app was picked out of the lottery! Woohoo! Anyone else get that email? This will definitely play a part in the decision making process for me.

Did you guys get any sort of confirmation email when you submitted the online housing form? I did it a while ago but never heard anything.

Congrats mr. goodbytes!

rx515, I got an email from Ms Christina Angel about my application being added to the Housing database, but that's it.

edit: need to supply own bed, desk, etc for dorms.

I never got that email... So I went back to the website again to fill out the form again.. This time I did it with internet explorer instead of firefox and a pop-up let me know that I couldn't use my middle initial with period after it in the name field. (its the way I normally write my name: First M. Lastname) Firefox never showed me that pop-up warning so all along I thought I had submitted my housing request but it never registered.. Hope this doesnt come back to bite me in the butt..

Did anyone get another hold email today? I just wasn't expecting to hear anything for a while...

Thanks!

I was also surprised to get the hold email, since the previous adcom meeting was only 2 or 3 weeks ago.

i got a hold too. does this mean the next adcom meeting is gonna be in may? or should we expect another update in 2 more weeks?

I also got a hold, and am also surprised it came this soon since I just interviewed on the 24th. Anyone have any additional thoughts on this? It seems there haven't been any outright post-interview rejections, although it's difficult to tell.

Thanks for posting about your problem, because the same thing was happening to me and I didn't understand why. I emailed housing about it and they seemed to have trouble understanding what the problem was, even though I explained it several times. Once I saw your post, I redid the form using IE and immediately got a confirmation email.

Yeah, I figured others might have come across the same problem.

On an unrelated note, based on how you describe yourself in other posts, i think you interviewed on the same day as me student1799. Jan 27th?

Canceled my interview at CMS. Hope one of the folks who is still waiting for an interview to get a decent shot at this place gets it! All the best! 👍

Right you are! I'm guess my age makes me pretty memorable in a crowd. 🙂 I feel bad that I didn't recognize you, though. Did we talk while waiting for our interviews?

Not one on one unfortunately. I was the tall, good looking😀 guy in the dark suit. Ring any bells? haha

In all seriousness though, I'm glad someone else from my interview day got in too!

I think I will be withdrawing my acceptance soon. RFU gave me an acceptance several months ago when everyone else was waitlisting or rejecting me, and I was really excited to go. But, I interviewed late at my top choice and was accepted. It's in-state tuition and closer to where I want to end up, etc. RFU would have been great, but hopefully someone else here gets my spot! Good luck.

yeah, i got this too. as i posted on friday, there were still spots open for the dorms after the lottery, so they went to a "first come, first serve" system. i'm not quite sure why the demand for the dorms are so low, however, cause the buildings are only a few years old and seem pretty nice (the two-bedroom apartments are about the same square footage as the four-bedroom i am living in now + half a bathroom).

I think it's probably because many students haven't been admitted yet, and others haven't made firm plans about where they're going. CMS interviews unusually late (May), and they probably don't get a lot of firm commitments to the school until May15.

....i submitted my housing application last thursday and i didn't get a lottery acceptance, only a confirmation email.

I'm having trouble finding information on the orientation and beginning of class dates for new students. Last year orientation was Aug 11-15 with classes starting the following Monday. I'm assuming this year it will be Aug 10-14 with classes starting the 17th. Can anyone confirm this?

Orientation starts the 11th and classes start on the 17th - I think if you are planning to live in student housing move in dates are the 1-7 and you have to make an appointment. Hope this helps!

The suggested due date for the application was March 12th. The people that just heard back from the housing office probably submitted their applications before then. If there are any spots left they will lottery off those as well. Don't worry, you should be hearing soon!

Submitted yesterday, got contract this morning.. But, Im sure it depends on the preferences you put and which sex you are.

Thank you, AJaye!

I love how all these people who I have never seen on this thread before are now posting about housing/orientation/financial aid. The CMS crowd must be bigger than I has previously thought. I was afraid for a while that I would end up in med school with a bunch of people who don't like the program, but that doesn't seem to be the case. Seeing as how I've gotten final decisions from my only two interviews and this is my only acceptance, I am 99.9% sure I will be at RFU in the fall. Seriously, I thank god every day I got in, and I am happy to see you guys showing so much interest in it, too. I'm getting more and more excited every day for this school.

For the people still on hold, don't give up hope. I was put on hold for a month and was accepted at the next meeting. I'm sure you've all heard this before, but the best advice I can give you is to send updates/LOIs. I sent one shortly after my interview just thanking them for the opportunity (I don't think it made it to my file for my first AdCom review, however) and just letting them know I wouldn't disappoint them if they would just give me an opportunity. Then I sent a serious (it was about 500 words, I believe) letter a few weeks later updating them on my activities this semester and explaining how these would help me prepare for CMS and med school in general. At this point, unless you dropped your pants during an interview, you really just need to show the AdCom how much you want this and they will take notice. Also, you can see from last year's thread that RFU is one of those schools with a significant amount of waitlist movement through the summer and even people who have been on hold for months are still in the running for spots.

YAY! I got my housing contract today.

😀

Also, according to US news about 509/783 interviewed people get in, so that's about 65%, and if you look at previous year's threads, there's huge waitlist movement in May onwards, so those who are on hold, don't give up!

Sweet! They just cashed my deposit. Chief I: Thanks for your enthusiasm! I interviewed with you and am so glad you made the cut. I know you thought about doing research and taking a hiatus from MD, but I think you'll be really happy at RFU! And unless I get into Pitt or Miami I'll be your classmate! (UI is just too expensive OOS and RFU > Rockford IMHO).

I'm not doing on campus housing though, since my GF and I are going to try and buy....

Obviously, I wish you the best of luck with Pitt and Miami, but I'd be proud to call you my classmate.

And wow...buying? I wish I could do that, but I'm flat broke. On the other hand, with the market right now you could find a pretty good deal.

I applied for housing yesterday and got accepted today. I chose a single, so maybe they have a lot of those available. Does anyone know if the deposit is refundable, like incase I decide not to go to the school?

I also got a contract today. According to what I read on the website, if you withdraw from CMS after making the $500 deposit (which is due April 24th), you lose $250 of it. (Beats losing a whole month's rent, right?)

Hi,

Does anyone know how we go about getting an ID number? On the housing contract, it asks for an ID number...or should we just leave it blank?

Thanks.

Thanks for that bit of info. I'm going to send in my deposit right away then. It's good to know that if I don't go to RFU, I won't lose the whole thing. Yet, if I do go there I will be guaranteeing myself on-campus housing. I also requested a single so maybe there is something there about a lot of those being available.

on the housing contract they give the option of 3 or 4 quarters... can anyone clarify for me what the difference is?... also i noticed there were questions about deferral.... I am living proof that CMS does defer as long as you have valid reasons.. so I can try to answer any questions anyone has

I'm not too sure about the 3 or 4 quarters payment either, so I've emailed Christina Angel this afternoon to ask her. Hopefully, she'll let me know by tomorrow.

On a side note, you're from Toronto? So am I! Same university too.

im pretty sure the fourth quarter is summer. i'm planning on living there three quarters and then sticking everything in storage for the summer between M1 and M2.

Awesome a fellow Torontonian!!.... See you around this fall!

What's the current annual tuition (sans fees and board) for MS1, MS2, MS3, MS4?
