No one who interviewed in early-mid October has heard anything if I recall. I just hope it's not because we weren't up to snuff. *ulp*

I think maybe they just hadn't discussed us yet. Only 2 ppl on SDN got in so far, they both interviewed in Nov, and even they were told they weren't going to hear back until January. Maybe the committee had an earlier meeting when they only reviewed a subset of the interviewees.

I'm going to interpret the fact that my friend just recently got this email to mean that the committee met [again?] recently, made more decisions, and the accepted students will hear something soon.

Hey,

I just got accepted!!! My faculty interviewer emailed me. Good luck everyone!!!

When did you interview?

She interviewed on 11/11 according to her MDApps.

This confirms it, the interviewers got an email today notifying them if their interviewees were accepted.

However, Dean Garcia has not called everybody yet...
(JuliaGulia, is this correct? You got an e-mail from your faculty interviewer, but have not received the call from Dean Garcia yet)

Some interviewers might be nice enough to notify the students, which is awesome.

My heart rate is through the roof right now...

Maybe we could e-mail our interviewers to find out...

I don't recommend it, unless you're buddy buddy with your interviewer, in which case they shouldn't have interviewed you in the first place.

I think it's unprofessional. If they want to volunteer that information, they will. Otherwise it's not our place to ask, I think.

does anyone know if interviewed applicants receive only one adcom review, or if our files are continually reviewed at each meeting? i interviewed over a month ago and was thinking of sending an update letter, but i dunno if it would be looked at. should i save it for post-WL instead? what about sending updates now and an LOI post-wL?

I sent a post-interview update document (not an actual letter - it was more of an outline).

Post-interview, I emailed to ask about Letter of Interest. "We do not request letters of interest at this stage of the application process. In the event that a student is wait listed, a letter of interest may serve a useful purpose."So, send an update, but save the letter for later.

Well, congrats again 🙂 Do you think you'll attend?

Here's hoping more of us will receive some good news this week.

I hope that on all future threads about "is it OK to take the pre-reqs at a CC?" that you will offer your example...

Way to go!

We should all hear after 1/5 I hope.

I hope so too. When did you interview?

A little part of me is still holding onto the tiny possibility that that if I was accepted, and my interviewers were notified, then they might be awesome like JuliaGulia's interviewer and e-mail me...

on new years eve...

yea right...

Still suuuper nervous :xf::xf::xf:

what's on 1/5?
Are lots of decisions being announced then?

The first real business day. Stanford's essentially closed for 2 weeks during Christmas. People still go to work... but officially stuff is closed. So, the first business day is 1/5, so we're hoping to hear something then.

good luck shemarty!

Complete: 10/13
Interview Invite: 11/8
Interview Date: 12/8

Are waitlists and rejections sent out with acceptances? It doesn't seem like anyone has been turned down by Stanford so far.

My guess is that they prioritize acceptance notices and that rejections/waitlists will start coming out after 1/5 along with more acceptances. Why bother scrambling to notify rejected people before Christmas when you can accept someone early and maybe sway them to come to your school? Cynical, I know, but...

I wonder if the waitlisted/rejected applicants also get a letter soon, or if all the bad news gets delayed until March-ish. I *think* that since they're totally on rolling admissions, the good and bad news all come on a rolling basis.

So, either way, we should maybe expect to hear something next week? :xf::xf::xf:

why does everyone think decisions will be released on 1/5 when the admissions counselor said not to expect decisions until feb?

I think you interviewed later than some of us? When we had our wrap-up with the admissions counselor, we were told "early January."

1/5 is the first real first business day of January. (Stanford was on winter break the last 2 weeks) Plus, we have reason to believe the adcom already had a meeting, since the interviewers of accepted students were notified. These are probably ppl who interviewed in oct/nov? (Some mid-November interviewees have heard back, so I assume they've already gotten to the Oct/Nov people.) So, we're hoping that those accepted students might be notified next week.

I interviewed exactly one week after Julia Gulia and was told to expect a decision in February. Do you think a one week difference in interview dates would make my decision arrive over a month later? I think maybe different staff members give different estimates on when we'll get a decision.

I have an interview coming up this month. It would be my only California school and I'm totally excited.

However, are the rumors true? I heard that 9 out of 10 California girls are hot. The other one goes to Stanford

Your interviewer will ask "Well, do you have any questions for me?", you could ask your interviewer at that time, may it be a validation or rejection of the rumor.

LOL, you aren't trying to sabotage my chances now are you GloryField?

Anyway, it's not like I'm going to base my decision on something like this. It's just that Stanford sort of has this reputation......🙄

Going from Vandy to Stanford would be one hell of a change if the rumors are true!

I just got an interview at Stanford for this January I am soooooo excited, It couldn't have come at a better time. Now I have a reason to make my parents pay for a small LA vacation 😉.

Congrats!!! You're gonna swing by LA on your way to/from Stanford? They're kinda far from each other...

The fact that they gave out interview invites today makes me think that there were ppl working in the office, which makes me sad that they didn't give out acceptances today.

Still eagerly awaiting next week...

Thanks. Far? I didn't know since I've never been. How far? Either way I have to make the trip. I live all the way East and unless I get accepted at Stanford (the only west coast school I applied to), it will prob be my last chance to visit for the next few years.

Stanford is at least a 5-6 hour drive to LA. According to Google maps, it's 5 hours and 48 minutes from Stanford to LAX, not that you'd be hanging out at LAX on your LA vacation 😛

The trip itself makes for a great vacation though... drive the coast, pebble beach...ooh yeah

Yea its a nice drive if the weather cooperates and you have a friend in the car. Would you rent a car? I don't go between SF and LA often, but when I have to, I fly.

Hey shemarty, I would rent a car if you are willing to come along for the ride. So how about it? I have always
had a thing for asian pre-med girls. 😀

Two more days until Monday...

Hopefully, more phone calls will be made on Monday; otherwise, I am going to go crazy.

I wish you luck, I'm sure all of SDN would root for you after all you've done for us this app season

Aw, thanks!

I will probably give the office a call in the morning. I'll post here if I get any kind of update from them.

Voicemail, so I sent an e-mail instead.

Does anybody else want to try calling?

does stanford accept update letters if we're on hold pre-interview? or do they just prefer us to wait and not send in anything?

No pre-interview updates.

"You can expect to hear from us within TEN DAYS. Call again if you don't hear anything by then." *sigh* A bit more waiting...

Is that valid for everyone who interviewed in October (ie. is a mass response going out then)? or was that specific to your interview date?

Considering that some mid-November interviewees have already been accepted, I suspect that all of the October and many of the November interviewees should be getting their decisions within the next ten days (at least this is my hope).
