I can commiserate with those of you who've been rejected multiple times from stanford (undergrad, transfer, and med school 2007, here). I'm beginning to think that there is a class of us for whom Stanford has form letters prepared.

Dear [HotPenguinSex],
With the greatest reluctance, we are writing to inform you that we're tired of you applying here. Seriously. Take a hint. Included are rejection letters from all of our other schools signed by the appropriate deans, should you feel a need to change career directions and try again. Best of luck in your future endeavors.
Sincerely,
AdCom.

I'm also in pre-interview limbo, but my hopes aren't too high at this point.

Found out recently that I was wait-listed, which was shocking as I expected a rejection. Probably won't be moving off the wait-list, so here's to crossing my fingers for UCLA decisions.

i turned in my secondary on the due date, so this might just mean they haven't read through the pile yet.

Me too! I had assumed that Stanford's silence at this point had to mean a rejection, but I finally decided to look at this thread and see what's going on. I'm surprised I might still have a shot at an interview. I'm really not counting on one, but it'd be nice to have an excuse to take off work and fly to California!

hey.. so I never followed this thread very closely before, but I was wondering if anybody knew how the admissions review process works? I just interviews last week and Jonnie Perez said that we should hear back within two months...

That seems a bit late?

Stanford is rolling, so they don't have a solid "we'll tell you by March 15th" policy.

Is it just me or has this thread slowed down in the past couple of weeks? Perhaps all the sdners have heard?

I didn't post about it immediately, but I recently got the fat envelope phone call 🙂. It was a surprisingly fast decision. Came two weeks to the day after I interviewed.

Just got an interview invite!!!!! So amazed! I was complete September or something but sent and update letter they must have appreciated. I think what did it was updating my research progress. Good luck to all of you!🙂

congrats n best of luck! i doubt it was ur update thou, ur application is prolly awesome to begin with bc they specifically said they do not take updates and i m sure they're fair to all applicants in this respect cuz they rejected my research update ... haha

Does anyone know if there is a different procedure for determining when people hear back from Stanford if they went for MSTP interview but were rejected post-interview? The rejection letter I received stated that my application would be turned over to the MD side.

i thought that stanford does not accept update letters?

Just got an invite today.

Completely unexpected but figures....since i turned in my app rather late.

kind of ironic, because i was pretty decided on going elsewhere.

I also got an interview!!!!! I received it at 7:00 am on Saturday of all times. I'm glad Stanford came through for me, because it is my alma mater after all. I had just given up hope on Stanford when the invite came. So there's still hope for those still waiting!

By the way, does anybody know the stats of how many interview and how many are accepted?

Thanks🙂 Good luck to all

I think they interview around 450 people with 150 or so accepted. That's what I heard but if it's true, their acceptance rate is now in the 2%.😱

However, once you get the interview, your chance is much much better.

Hey does anybody know when Stanford's second look weekend is?

It's just slightly more than that. At least, it was for 2007.

6457 applied, 585 interviewed, 213 were accepted, 86 enrolled.

So I guess the acceptance rate is.....3.3%?

Hey does anybody know when Stanford's second look weekend is?

May 8-9

🙂

jych15, you received a Stanford MSTP rejection letter post-interview? did you interview very early in the process? I think the protocol is the same - you are evaluated along with all the other MD applicants. However, this seems unfair, since the MSTP interviews never included an MD-only interview.

Yea I interviewed in november and was rejected in early december. I have not heard anything from Stanford since then

i'm sorry to hear that. that was quite a fast response; I interviewed more than 2 months ago, and I still haven't heard a word from them...

Thanks, but its fine. I was fortunate to be able to go on a number of other interviews. It was my top choice and I would still seriously consider it for MD only.

Are we all agreed that people who are accepted usually hear on Thursdays?

So no more news after another tortuous Thursday night?

nope.....still all quiet here....

That's funny I wonder if they did look at my update or not. I just sent it in because I figured there was nothing to lose I didn't look at particular schools policies. Well if they didn't look at it I at least have cool stuff to say in the interview. Anyone on March 11th interviewing?

AH so excited!! Got the acceptance letter in the mail yesterday! Didn't think I'd have a shot because I didn't think my interviews went well. So pumped! For those of you tracking, I interviewed 1/21 (I think, check my mdapps to make sure).

I just got an interview invite here. For those waiting, I guess they are still offering them.

Anyone have any advice? Is it way to late for an acceptance (I am interviewing Mid-March)? I am not complaining either way, a shot at Stanford is a dream come true...

I've gotten the vibe that Stanford has a late application season. Though they are rolling I don't think they've accepted many people. So you definitely still have a chance for acceptance even with a late-ish interview date (compared to other schools).

(Warning: stupid question ahead) For those of you who have interviewed already, when did you call to confirm your interview? The wording on the website is "It is imperative that you confirm your scheduled interview within one business day in advance of your interview date." So does that mean within one business day of the interview? Or one or more days in advance of the interview day?

i have a friend who interviewed over spring break and got in, so def don't think it's late. good luck!

Congrats!!

Thanks, totally pumped! Got some tough decisions to make, but glad to have them 🙂

Has anyone that has been admitted been able to sing-up for the admitted student list-serv?

nope haven't figure out how to do that, granted the acceptance letter is at home, so i'm not quite sure how to join it

yeah i sent an email and followed the directions on the sheet but never got a reply or confirmation or anything.

Took over a month to get the student ID, guess they aren't the fastest office for turnaround.

hey guys, do you think at this point it is reasonable to assume that there are no chances for any more interview invites? :\

That's what I thought. My graduation is May 8. Sucks.

My graduation is on that date as well! I keep calling their office and leaving messages trying to see if I can arrange something else...but they won't call me back. WTH?

Ok, I have been waiting to hear back for a little over two months now, and its really starting to get to me. For those of you who interviewed at the end of January or early in Feb, have you heard anything?

Just interviewed, keeping my fingers crossed.

Hey, does anybody have any info on the number interviewed, number waitlisted, and the kind of waitlist movement Stanford has seen in the past?

did you guys get a letter with an 'update on the status of your application', in essence telling you to keep waiting until the end of March?

Hi,

Anybody else still not been rejected or invited for an interview? I was not complete until 11/14 but haven't heard anything yet...

in limbo as well. We might as well be rejected because no1 has posted about receiving invites recently

Still in limbo as well, complete since mid-October, nearly been 5 full months.
