Just talked to Joni because I needed to update my address. I told her not to worry about updating it if final notices have already been mailed(sly move by me) and she said that they were hoping to have them mailed by the end of the week so she went ahead and changed my address for me. So, hopefully by this weekend I guess.
 
I don't think people should completely give up hope of an acceptance . UNC has a new Dean. You don't know how much effect he has on how the school operates.
 
Hey guys, just letting you know that my friend today got "the call." So, as of today/Tuesday, they were still handing out acceptances.
 
Yes thank you! But so much for not letting myself check SDN again tonight...we all know THAT's not going to happen now :luck::xf::luck:
 
Well.... this sets us off the course of last year's thread? (I think at least) 🙂
 
For those who did get the call - what did the caller id say?

I checked my recent calls when I got home and there was a "private number." Not sure what to make of this other than it is just a fluke.
 
I'm wondering if my interviewer even calls... I haven't seen anyone on here who said she called them...
 
Does anyone remember the latest time at night an interviewer called? Wow this cycle of hope and despair cannot be healthy.
 
Wow, I am completely baffled with how UNC handles this.
Hope my interviewer is busy with his duties... and receive a delightful treat in my mailbox sometime this week.

The call was from the UNC SOM Admissions Office number, which I already had in my phone, and it was Joni.
 
What time did you get the call? I wonder if they are done calling now with all the acceptances

Why would we lie? Someone on this thread knows me personally-they interviewed with me-I assure you I'm not lying lol. That would be cruel...

I think the latest time someone received a call was 9, which I read in this thread. My friend got her call at 3:30 today from a 919 number, as did I last week (Wednesday). My call came around 5 and neither of us were called by Joni. My dad told me my paperwork came in the mail Saturday. We are so happy 🙂 my parents say if I choose to get a roommate (I really want to live alone tho) they will get us a townhome or condo. We went to Cheeseburger Paradise tonight to celerate with drinks wooooooo Chapel Hill here we come! Oh, my friend is out-of-state, but I am in-state and we are seniors in college.

to everyone waiting good luck! everyone applying is so qualified I honestly have no idea how they offer acceptances.

Man I wish my parents bought me a townhome. I will be your roomate since your parents will be paying rent.
 
so, dr. bradshaw paid me a personal visit today to tell me that i have been accepted!!!!
he also told me that if you have not heard up to this point, you have been accepted too!!!
congrats everybody!!!
 
I guess those of us who haven't received a call as of late should expect a letter for waitlist/rejection?

I don't care what day it is, as long as I get a acceptance/waitlist, I don't care.

It is REALLY terrible when one's fiancee calls on April 1st and says "someone just hit your car"...and it not be a joke. 😱

Sucks that it wasn't the first time my car was rear ended.
 
I'm a little frustrated... I wish they wouldn't have given a specific date....
 
I'm afraid to call them and listen to them say that we'll know by the end of the month!
 
Ok guys, I just called the admission office and a lady told me that they are going to be mailing out all decisions today (Waitlist/unsuccesful). She said they are waiting on Dean to bring in the letters. She asssured me that I will recieve a decision in the mail by friday. From the way she sounds it seems like if you don't get a phone call today you either going to be waitlisted or rejected. Good luck guys
 
You know I think we will all be that much stronger after going through the process and reapplying. Once you learn how the system works you will be able to act accordingly. Applying 1x and getting in is difficult. I think it will be much easier on the second time around.
 
did no one else apply to other schools???? granted I have WLs, no acceptances, but anyways...

Yes, I'm sure we all applied to other schools. I for one, I have already decided where I am going, but I am just curious as to the outcome of my application since I spent the time and effort to apply/interview.
 
I'm so confused about whats going on...

Did she say they were still making calls tonight? I sort of think that period is really over... anyway... I just want this madness to be over...

This thread should go down in history or something...

i assume that call period is way over by now
well lesson well learned from applying to few schools late in the cycle

Who cares about that stuff. It's just someone being "funny." I'd rather have the worst reputation possible. I wonder if it eventually turns into the brightest red ever.

Yeah I think this is a good attitude to have right now. I interviewed back in October and haven't heard anything yet still.

Just curious. Does anyone on this list know UNC's policy for deferring acceptance for a year?
 
if you have a good enough reason (e.g. research/fellowship, TFA, immersion programs, family issues, personal health issues) other than "I want to travel" and meet with the dean, send in a letter, you can likely get it approved. I've never heard them granting more than 8-10 in any year though (sometimes even less), so do it asap if you have an acceptance already.
 
Do you think you can defer if you have been given a merit scholarship by UNC? I always planned on asking for a deferral to do Americorps. I haven't recieved my paperwork for my scholarship yet (I just got my acceptance papers Saturday actually), but I was afraid to ask on the phone...didn't want to sound ungrateful. I'm guessing not so I'm kinda bummed (senior year has totally stressed me OUT) but of course I'm super excited about attending UNC next year, too.

woo, woo, woo. They are handing out scholarships already? Congrats, and to answer your question. I guess it wouldnt hurt to ask.
 
Thanks! Mr. Keith called to tell me in a separate phone call. I've met him before but he sounds sooo country on the phone lol, at first I was rather bewildered about who was calling me. I'm very happy and grateful since IBM gave my dad the boot a few months ago, after 28 years! jerks. I guess I will have to ask sometime this week or definitely next, as I can't procrastinate on this too much longer. Just trying to recieve some paperwork first. ^_^
