Haha, I'll be away, with no access to email, on 3/30 and 31. 😱

Well, if you're accepted, there's a good chance you'll get a phone call from your interviewer, so not having email won't matter too much.

Maybe they're running a week early.. It is technically "late march" this week... Maybe it'll come sooner than last year's did!:xf:

i thought i withdrew from Bu a while ago....but got a contact update email and checked online...apparently i did not withdraw as i thought i did.

how should i go about withdrawing? click the 'withdraw' button online, send a note online and click 'withdraw' or email dean of admissions about withdrawing my acceptance!

good luck to all! i want to withdraw ASAP so that someone can take my spot on march 31st and not wait for waitlist movement.

You can withdraw on the status page, but I would also probably call the admissions office to ensure that you're properly withdrawn since it is pretty late in the process and they may not have taken your withdrawal into account.

thanks for being so considerate 🙂 i would also say withdraw online and then email the dean to let him know!

thanks for everyone's suggestions! i have withdrawn online and sent the admissions office a message.

good luck! :luck:

I've checked this thread so many times that the temptation to pull a hideously mean prank on everyone else is getting unbearable.

Imagine if someone posted in jest: Status Update!!! Just got accepted!

We'd all check our statuses (stati ?) like madmen(and women), only to find out it was all a joke. Now wouldn't that be the let down of 2010?

Sorry for my rambling, I can't stand the pressure anymore.

BU, PlEaSe AcCePt Me!!!!

lol 😀 too funny! but don't worry guys! you are soooo close! so many acceptances are already in envelopes! 👍 😀

you guys have 7 or 8 more days. So close yet so far til you find out. 🙂.

The first March phone call came on a Monday last year. So try to enjoy your weekend.

Good luck everyone.

i called the admin office yesterday and was informed that the decisions will be sent out early april 🙁

I missed some of the earlier posts about this, so my apologies...but can someone tell me the process for accept, reject, and waitlist? Will applicants be called, emailed, mailed their status? Thanks!

To make the waiting even worse, I keep seeing the person I interviewed with at work. In the cafeteria, the hallway...all I want to is ask what the verdict is, but I just smile and walk by. So I don't seem like a crazy person-

WHAT?! aren't they supposed to have already accepted at least the number of students that is supposed to be in the following year's class?

If you look up on AMCAS, April is the month that schools (regardless of whether they've accepted you or not) can see if you've been accepted elsewhere. February is the month that schools that have already accepted you can see if you've been accepted elsewhere. Maybe they're trying to see if people have gotten into better schools so that they might not extend acceptances to them? (with the expectation that they wouldn't choose BU over the better school)

😕😕😕

I didn't think so about the last part. I thought schools can ONLY see where else you've been accepted if they've already accepted you. This is for purposes of candidates only holding one acceptance once May 15th rolls around. It would be unfair for schools to withhold an acceptance (for instance) if they saw you had been accepted to a higher ranked institution.

On the bottom of Page 11 of the AMCAS 2010 instructions it says:

"The AAMC shares acceptance information across schools in order to assist medical schools adhere to AAMC recommendations. These data are shared as follows:

a) Beginning in February of each year, a medical school that has accepted an applican can view the other school or schools that have accepted the applicant, if applicable.

b) Beginning in April of each year, a medical school can view the school or schools that have accepted an applicant, even if that applicant has not yet been accepted by the medical school."

Does that mean that having no acceptances right now could actually help me get into BU in April?! haha I hope so...

*By the way, this is pure speculation as to why they might wait. I would do the same thing if I were them.

I thought decisions were already made at BU and are just awaiting approval from the dean. If it took this long to look through the acceptances, he will not have time in a couple days to sort through where people have gotten in. Anyways, I suppose the delay may involve the family issues the Dean was having, which someone pointed out several weeks ago in this thread.

Yeah that makes more sense, forgot they had been reviewing these for a while. Hopefully we all have some good news whenever they get around to sending it out.

Take it easy

No it seems perfectly fair for them to base their decisions in part on who's been accepted elsewhere. Statistics don't lie and I'm sure they have a database of their head-to-head battles with other med schools for students. Over the years, say they lose 95% to Yale but only 20% to Miami then they can plan accordingly for students who they know have acceptances at either school.

I mean I'm sure they'll take things into account such as family in Boston or interest letters etc...

*By the way, this is pure speculation as to why they might wait. I would do the same thing if I were them.

Stop putting rumors in people's heads. i highly doubt they base any decision on such factor seeing as decisions were already made March 3rd and the date to when med schools can officially see where you got in was after this.

And stop moaning when you haven't even gotten your decision.

And lastly it took this long for them to get to give the earlier decisions they gave for fall decisions. So clearly it has nothing to do with where else people are accepted.

Come on BU... No decisions??? It's almost April! And you have interviewed anyone for over a month! I Interviewed 6 months ago!

last year acceptance phone calls began going out tomorrow (3/30) so hopefully that's the case for us, as well.

i know my interviewer calls, so i'm just dying for that phone call... :xf::xf::xf:

It says "speculation". Maybe I should have put it in bold or at the beginning so loons wouldn't freak out. don't take it so personally, it was just my idea which i later retracted cause i read some of the previous posts.

Tensions run high in the desert http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sXldafIl5DQ&feature=related

Take it easy and good luck all!

I wasn't getting mad even though it came off that way. I am also not one of the ones waiting. I didn't read your retraction until after I posted. And last but not least, I was stating what i said i.e. to not make such speculations because you stress people out more when you say such stuff and it does put ideas into peoples heads which is not necessary when people on this forum are nervous already. That is all.

I am not trying to get mad, just explaining. Anyhow I only came into this thread because I'm a GMS student who saw them making decisions weeks ago and posted in here to wish people well and good luck when I saw that happening.

That's all.

Since you are one of those people, I wish you well and everyone else. Being patient is tough, but I'm sure you will all hear soon. Good luck.

Anyone else constantly shuttling back and forth between here and their status page? haha Good luck everyone!@#!@#:luck::xf::luck::xf:

I called their office and they notified me that decisions won't come out till early April. I guess we will all just have to be patient.

ok so by late this week we better know something! seriously if they take any longer i may forget i even applied here 😛

Well that just sounds like letters won't be arriving in the mail till early April, they don't take into consideration that interviewers can make phone calls before then (i.e. 3/30 or 3/31) if it follows last year's trend. Hopefully you guys start hearing some good news this week.

Last year two people were told they would hear "in two weeks" after calling around march 26th and the acceptance emails went out on the 31st! i also like fusoya's idea that the mails may get out later but emails/status updates can still be at the end of march! anyway gooood Luuuuuck everyone i would love to attend here if accepted :xf::luck:

For what it's worth, I just checked my status page and it had my status updated.....I applied MD/PhD, so I'm not sure how much it applies to others.....
