in jan some people received their packages in the mail before the status update.. another reason why i think we'll be suffering a little more!!

any happy mails lately anyone?
 
it absolutely must positively for sure be status updates for everyone!

seriously, isn't it an amcas rule that we be informed of all schools' decisions by March 31?

Just b/c I was bored.

By March 30 of the matriculation year, March 15 for MD-PhD programs, each school or program have issued a number of offers of acceptance at least equal to the expected number of students in its first-year entering class and have reported those acceptance actions to the AAMC Section for Medical School Application Services.

no. i interviewed at UCLA two weeks ago and they said i wouldnt hear back 6-8 weeks. so i dont think so.

that and another school of mine, baylor, informed us that they give out acceptances through april and then compile the waitlist at the end of april.
 
got the phone call around 12:30pm today from Dr. D (biochemist)! i am extremely pumped! it was way too long of a season full of rejections and wait lists up to this point for me.

good luck to all those still waiting to hear! im ready for boston!

nice find.

which means that they had to accept that minimum number by that day.....and then can continue to accept....obviously most (if not all) schools overaccept to account for students withdrawing and attending other schools

I see like 3 way around this entailing us getting notified. I also interviewed at Gtown recently and will not get an answer yet. Also have another interview coming up that doesnt fill the class till they are done interviewing soo ..? Weird.

Schools giving out acceptances after this date means nothing, because they may have already given out enough acceptances (equal to # of matriculants), but still will give out more. Also, it just says they must transmit the acceptances to AMCAS by today. They could have done that today, and still be waiting to update us I guess.

It just means they must accept the class size by that date. It doesn't mean they have to notify anyone but AAMC about this at that time. And most schools over accept. So who knows they may have hit that quota with the original batch anyways. I just posted it so you guys were informed of the AMCAS traffic rules. It's good to know in either case.

I'm going to go with the idea that they temporarily made MyApplication unavailable so they could post status updates. 😀:xf: Please please please let us know soon!
 
hey peeps, i called the admissions office and the woman there said they would change statuses "next week sometime." 🙁

i asked why the delay and she said that, well, they interview 1,000+ people...

just wanted to give y'all a heads-up. i suppose we COULD hear before that... but i'm not counting on it.
 
sooo.. guys... do the interviewers make the call all on the same day??

Gosh.. I really wanna go here.. but seems like my interviewer already made a few phone calls today..
 
if that's true we'll receive the mail before status updates and one would think mails are harder to send to 1000+ people :annoyed:

getting our hopes up a little last year they said in 2 weeks and they still heard on the 31st 😎 :xf::luck:

You beat me to it. I can understand, though. If they said "in 2 days" then they would get many more calls 2 days later, whereas if they say "2 weeks" or "next week" they have a better chance of not hearing from us (understandably) nervous premeds ever again by phone (as we will find out early and have no real reason to call). It's a good/sly mechanism.

Not to sound unappreciative or rude, but seriously....I interviewed 6 months ago and BU hasn't interviewed anyone in over 6 weeks. I think 6 weeks is fair enough time to have a committee meeting...and then report on acceptances. Everything is electronic anyway....

lol, my phone just rang as i was reading this thread, and it turned out to be my MOM, asking me if there's any news from BU.

Status page works again but it is not updated with results.
 
I can't log in to the status page at all, it's giving me this:

This Boston University School of Medicine site is available only to individuals who have an active 2010 AMCAS application and who have been invited to login as a result of transmission of information from AMCAS to BUSM. If you have received an email invitation from us to login to MyApplication for the 2010 application cycle but are unable to do so, please contact the Office of Admissions at: [email protected] .

And I definitely logged in with the exact same password several times earlier today and it worked fine...I don't know what this means 🙁 anyone else having this problem?

don't be so neurotic. I just signed in 5 minutes ago...and now it's changed to that. They tend to waitlist (not reject..despite what they say), so this would be silly of them.

I have no idea 🙁 Don't you think they would have put up a status update first that we were rejected, before getting rid of our accounts? Damn I have no idea anymore...ahh I just want an answer
 
Yeah don't worry about that message guys.

I was accepted in January, I'm still holding my place, and I get that message now too.

They must have just deactivated the status page for everyone.

hahaha definitely. but they deserve it after being so ambiguous as to say "late march" decisions, and it is the LAST day of march. ughhhhhhhhhh i hate BU
 
Haha I feel silly for freaking out now...ah well, back to my normal level of elevated stress. I hope we get a decision by the end of the week :xf:
 
I am a second year GMS student and just received a bu email saying that a whole mess of servers have crashed. Maybe it's related?
