BU needs to start sending out interview invites to lighten up this thread.
 
I feel like I'm a foxhole in WW2, watching all my buddies get hit by artillery and I'm just waiting my turn :scared:

hey guys,

i submitted the secondary app online with 3 LORs, but can i add additional LOR on amcas? if i designate BU as a school to receive the additional letters, do you think BU will download the additional letter from AMCAS?

You'll have to call them to make sure your additional letter is read, otherwise it might just sit in your folder.
 
Has anyone run into some problems with the letter of recommendations not being signed or being on a letterhead?

I submitted my secondary on 8/7. On 8/10 I was notified that my application would be on hold because four out of six of the letter of recommendations have not been signed or written on a letterhead. I contacted my letter writers who said they signed electronically and was quite puzzled...one professor happened to be out of town and could not get access to a letterhead. Finally, the letters were resubmitted by 8/20, but at the exact moment BU notified that my application was no longer on hold, it apparently sent out a second email saying that no, it's back on hold because another letter (not part of the original four) wasn't signed and wasn't on a letterhead.......WHAT.

So now it's still on hold, and I just contacted that person to sign.

Is this something that everyone knew already and I totally screwed up?

I had the same problem, I have been on hold for almost a month because of this. You have to get your letters signed and on letterhead. (just the required ones)

That happened to me. I only had one screw up, and it was legitimate. I was surprised. It was actually really easy to fix. Took me three days I think.
 
Had the same problem. Just told my professor to upload a new letter and BU took my app off hold in about 2 days. Hope to hear something soon (4.0 36Q) but it looks like this year is super competitive so i'm deff not getting my hopes up too high.
 
I stand corrected. I just got the "sorry we're taking so long" email today. I was complete on 7/27, so it was exactly 30 days.
 
I believe the first news we had here of invites from BU was on the 28th last year, a Thursday. I wonder whether that means we can expect to start seeing some good news tomorrow?
 
that **** on mdapps that tracks schools and profiles and what not

not sure if its legit, i just thought you guys should get paranoid 🙂
 
Lol if you look closely at the handle of the individual that "received" an interview at BU on the trackboard, you'll notice that it contains the last name of one of the MDApps creators (Ryan Radecki) and that it also suspiciously contains the word "test". Taking these two tidbits of information together.. I am going to venture a guess and say that Ryan is trying to work out the kinks on the new site...
 
Rejected, complete 8/5. 🙁

However, looking at all the ridiculously qualified people who got rejected, I can only hope BU thought I was like them. :laugh:

OK, so what's the deal with BU?

To be honest, I know next to nothing about the school. This thread makes it sound not that cool.
 
Rejected, complete 8/6. For what it's worth, I have three interviews already scheduled and this is my first rejection. It makes me wonder if they're trying to only get those who aren't using this as a "safety school" and instead would be more likely to attend if accepted.

Darn, too, 'cause I like Boston!
 
while that idea makes sense. the idea of rejecting great students simply because of the idea that they wont actually attend is stupid. if they do this, then no one great will ever attend their school. they should woo these students in with financial aid!

on another note...the axe is coming my way!!!

I would have definitely attended Boston. With my stats, I'm praying for 1 acceptance! Rejected today, complete 8/6.

They really are running behind this year - some of the early action applicants havent been given decision yet.

Expected timeframe for non-rejection is within the next 2 weeks though - who knows if they will be able to hold up. I think some "non-rejection" news has gone out though - apparently they did send some "you are on hold until new grades" notices.

Of course, I definitely am doing my best to sabotage everyone, especially anyone with the name KMFDM.

Take everything on this forum with a grain of salt, my posts included. But hey, so far, its rather strange that I tend to be at least sort of right... but BU is late this year - for that, you don't need the salt! 🙂

hey guys,

those that have got rejections already...did u guys fill out the "optional" essay?

they really don't want any bs....so it has to be smth really really unique and important....AND not mentioned anywhere else on the app....

I haven't been rejected yet, but I did fill out the "optional" essay. It was super short though, just 2-3 sentences about how I have family in the area. I don't know if that's good or bad (or neutral), but I've heard that some schools thing that's a legit (though certainly not a primary) reason for wanting to attend the school, so I decided to put it down. In response to your comment, it's certainly not "bs," but not exactly "really really unique and important" either.

No BS is good of course. But if I had to pick one way or another, I do support responding to the optional essay. Just my opinion.
 
Yeah I think the optional essay is truly optional. If I were a school that received over 10,000 applications, I would not be happy to read 10,000 fluffy essays...but if you have something important to say, might as well say it since they give you the space. I myself did not fill out the optional essay but I have not heard from BU either way (complete 7/31).
 
completely agreed. If something was THAT important, I would think you have already mentioned it in your PS 😉
 
I didn't fill out the optional section (although I did write quite a bit for the extra educational information thing). I have not yet been rejected, and just received the 30 day email yesterday.
 
Wow that 30 day email just came in for me today - at first it got my heart racing because all the apologies for delays initially sounded a bit like apologies for a rejection :-/ whew.

They've been sending out apologetic emails for people that have been complete for 30 days. It just says to keep waiting. There's a transcript of it somewhere in this thread

Schools that receive 10,000 applications are desperate to detect a specific reason why you like them and why you may well come there, if accepted.

I used the optional essay for BU to emphasize that about me. They asked me about it during my interview and I was accepted. (2007-2008 cycle.) No clue, of course, if it really made any difference.

Complete 8/6 after I personally went to the medical school to deliver a letter they required and spoke briefly with Dr. Witzburg.

Rejected 8/31.

I hope this school gets swept into the Atlantic. I pay HOW much to go to this school?...and they won't even offer me an interview.
