well CCLCM, but i was rejected by UP pre interview in like octoberI'm sorry to hear about your rejection. CCLCM or UP?
So... if I'm going to be busy the week of Case's second look... is it possible to ask the office if I could come up on a Friday or something, sit in on classes and have my own 'mini' second look? I'm not exactly sure how these things work... but if there are documents talked about/passed out at second look, will those be available even if I didn't attend?
I don't know what their policy is, but sure, why wouldn't you call the UP office and ask?So... if I'm going to be busy the week of Case's second look... is it possible to ask the office if I could come up on a Friday or something, sit in on classes and have my own 'mini' second look? I showed up in Cleveland on the evening of July 1, signed a lease for an apartment by mid-afternoon on July 2 after just driving around for a few hours and calling numbers posted outside the buildings, and started school a couple of days later. It was absolutely no problem finding an apartment, though you may not want to leave things quite as last minute as I did if you're not comfortable. For current CCLCM/case students: How far in advance should we be looking for housing/do students usually begin leases june or july 1st?
For anyone going to the CCLCM second look: Will you guys be looking at apartments/for roommates during the second look?

I actually started my lease on August 1 and stayed with someone else for a month, although I could have moved in the day I signed the lease if I had wanted to. The problem was on my end, because none of my stuff was in Cleveland yet. 😛

I'm about 1.5 miles from CCLCM and 1 mile from the Case med school building.Haha, that's good to hear. Did you manage to get a place close by or do people end up having to be much less picky if they do it last minute?
Nope, I rented a car because I flew to Cleveland. For the first few weeks after I got here, I literally had nothing here with me but a couple of suitcases with clothes and stuff.IHeartSleep said:You drove? Or bummed a ride? Because if I recall, someone wanted a new car...2.5 more weeks until your hot new wheels come.

Hot new wheels or new hot wheels? 😀
well i just got rejected today so maybe no news is good news in this case.Has anyone not heard from CCLCM yet?
I haven't asked my parents but they haven't told me anything... so I'm going to assume they didn't get mail from CCLCM.
Is anyone else also in the same boat with no news?

Mmmmmm I keep hearing ppl say that...so what does that actually mean, what if more students than the class size can hold are left after everyone who withdraws is gone?Actually I think they accept a little over double their class size (not sure exact numbers, just what I remember), so there's hope
Wow...I wonder what they would do if they ended up with more accepted students than spots. That would really blow.
That's just not true. For example, Ohio State has already accepted 390 applicants for like 210 spots. Every year, after people start withdrawing, they end up taking 30-50 people off the waitlist.
Sorry, yes, I should have specified. It is true for CCLCM, but not true for UP.
So I've been accepted and I'm almost positive that I'll be attending. I know it may seem early, but how does one go about getting housing? I'm not going to be available to go back to Second Look, and I'm from out of state so not at all familiar with the area. I know that I'd like to live as close to the school as possible (due to laziness) which I've been told would mean I'd live in Little Italy? Taking a look at Craigslist, I'm just a little confused about what that would mean. Thanks for any help!
Little Italy is really, really close if we're talking UP.So I've been accepted and I'm almost positive that I'll be attending. I know it may seem early, but how does one go about getting housing? That really depends on how many barriers you want to have between you and your nearest supply of food. If you live in little Italy, you're within a mile of the nearest grocery store (the small Dave's on Cedar), but 20-30 minutes (by car) out from Costco and a 20-30 minute bus ride out from Wal-Mart/Home Depot/Borders/the bigger Dave's, for which the return bus is once every 50 minutes or so ($2.25, 1-way). However, a number of students go to grocery stores in groups, with enough vehicularly-enabled people to make that feasible. I have a car. Also, how feasible is it not to have a car?
I'm wondering the same thing. Any current students or people familiar with the area able to give some advice on apartment hunting? I want to live within walking distance
You can live in the Triangle if you want, but it's pretty much the most expensive arrangement around ($822 minimum for a 340sqft studio, I think--they just raised the rates on me), with almost free covered parking ($25 one-time fee), and water/electricity/heat included. Add a cat for $Iforget one-time and $25/mo. There's also a monthly trash fee of $10, but I can't remember if they're leaving that separate or rolling into rent. I think they might be. Washer/dryer not included--$1.25 per machine in-building. Studios do not have dishwashers, though I believe units bigger than that do. Refrigerator, microwave provided. Workout facilities in both Triangle 1 and Triangle 2. New amenities for the Triangle for you guys: pool tables, foosball, and pingpong in Triangle 2.).Hmm, a quick look finds this advice... Areas Near The Medical School The City of Cleveland Heights, where most students live, has three neighborhoods that are attractive to students (because of the proximity of a grocery store, restaurants, and other shops), known as Coventry. These areas are a 15-25 minute walk to school. The Cleveland Heights Housing Office Shaker Heights is about a 10-minute drive to the medical school. The apartments are comparable to those in Cleveland Heights. The Shaker Square Area Development Corp., 11811 Shaker Blvd. Suite 206, Cleveland OH 44120, (216) 421-2100, open 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, maintains a current register of available rentals in the Shaker Square neighborhood. There is a city bus that runs from Shaker Square to University Circle. The RTA Rapid Transit Blue Line and Green Line run between Shaker Square and downtown. The Shaker Heights Housing Office, 3450 Lee Road, Shaker Heights, OH 44120, (216) 491-1330, maintains a roster of apartments and homes for rent in Shaker Heights, which is about a 15-minute drive from the law school. There are two Rapid Transit lines from Shaker Heights to downtown. Students also find apartments right in the University Circle area. The Hessler Court/East 115th Street area offers very reasonably-priced apartments. The Triangle, (216) 791-5959, located in the heart of University Circle, is a 5-minute walk from the medical school. Also nearby are the Waldorf Tower Apartments (about a 15-minute walk), (216) 791-8547, and Kensington Place (about a 10-minute drive), (216) 691-1944.

So it looks like the Triangle for us? 5 minute walk from the med schools orgasmic.

There are some forums.
hey Myuu,
thanks for all your help. One more question, is there parking at the hospital/medical school? If so, how much does it cost? I am trying to figure out if it's worth it to live somewhere further off but with cheaper rent + driving cost, or living somewhere within walking distance but more expensive.
thanks!
is anyone going to start a cclcm facebook group? 😀 (i don't want to)
i also withdrew from my hold at case. hopefully it helped someone here.![]()
Is anyone else getting antsy about them making the waitlist? I really hope I'm on it, and that there's movement soon (or better yet, that some people will be accepted at the end of the month, but I know that's wishful thinking).
haha i was thinking of doing it the other day...how about i'll make it if you join it?

maybe. 😀
If I get off the waitlist, I'll make it for both of you. =P
haha, i already made it...both of you should join so im not the only lonely member
Well, I hope Dean Franco lets me join!Someone was taken off the waitlist the other day, but I presume most of the movement is coming only after May. Does CCLCM also have the May 1st date like the UP since it also starts pretty early?
i just made the group closed, that should do it, right?
May1? So does that mean there might be superquick movement between May 1 and May 15? That'd rock! 14 days between then and the 15th and having to tell my other school...hopeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeful!May 1st date like the UP since it also starts pretty early?
