I think some of the people who had October interviews early enough had a decision already. I had my interview there October 7th, but apparently missed the Oct. 15th decision date. I'm guessing the packet's in the mail, since I haven't gotten anything as of yet.

For everyone waiting for an acceptance letter, best of luck to you all!

I am a re-applicant this year, so I'm just going to shed some wisdom. I applied last year 30P, 3.77, 3.5 sci. I interviewed in October, and I didn't hear word about getting placed on the alternate list until May. IU is NOTORIOUS for holding back on acceptance letters, even decisions, unless you're an EDP applicant. This delay is especially notable for instate-mediocre applicants, as myself. So don't get discouraged if you don't get an acceptance letter on the 15th, or the several days following, you will drive yourself insane 😛. Keep faith, focus on your studies, and be patient!

Medicine love!

Well, still no mail yet 🙁. I called them to see when they would have sent acceptance letters out, and they said they sent them Monday, November 16th. Hopefully it'll come in the mail tomorrow.

Another thing they said which was important, was that rejections come by email, while acceptance letters come by snail mail. So if you haven't heard anything yet, then at the worst you are on the waiting list.

easy, champ. i knew of a few people during the last admissions cycle...they had their interviews conducted early in the year and didn't get accepted until 6 months later!

waiting is the hardest part.:xf: if you haven't heard anything yet, then anything is still possible!

Yeah, I know. I was just saying that no news is good news. I would prefer not having to wait, but it's up to them. It doesn't sound like anyone received letters yet this week, but if I don't get accepted right away, it's no big deal.

a friend of mine in bloomington got their acceptance today so should be arriving soon for everyone

good luck

I received my acceptance letter today!! I had the Oct 7 interview. 29 MCAT 9/11/8 and 3.76 gpa.

Good luck everyone!

Purdue first, that's my undergrad currently, then Indianapolis as second choice! 🙂

congrats ashdoc! What campus are you going to choose?

Hey guys, congrats on your acceptances. I'm kinda jealous over here...😀
I'm going have to wait till January for interview... That's what I get for applying late...

At any rate, just one question: can you choose which campus you want to study at? Is it first two years in Indy, and then the last two years at your home campus? If I can choose, I would love to go back to Bloomington, though I am not sure which one would give me the best clinical training. Of course, this would all be irrelevant if I don't get accepted...

You get to select where you would prefer to be for your first 2 years. The first 2 years are offered in Indy along with the 8 other sites around Indiana, and the second 2 years are the years everyone will be in Indy.

Did you get your letter in Indiana or at your OOS address? Just wondering if there's a possibility that letters might still be in the mail for OOS people.

glad to see letters going out again. congrats to all.

hey gte...

did you already get your invite for the January interview? I applied late and still waiting for my exact date but I have already turned in my packet

no, I didn't get the email, but I told them that I'm going to be overseas from early Feb to June or July so I needed my interview to be scheduled before that. They emailed me back, letting me know that my interview will be in Jan.

I think it's been maybe about two or three weeks since I turned in my packet. Hope that helps.

Accepted! I'm oos and no instate ties.

When was ur interview and which state r u from. I interviewed on september 16, i still haven't heard anything, i am from LA, california. i am just trying to see if a letter is coming in the mail soon

Interviewed oct 14 and I'm from Chicago. If they did send you mail it'll probably take a few more days.

this, mostly. I keep hearing that they are trying to expand the program and do the last 2 years in some of the satellite campuses.

Congratulations to all those recently accepted! I have several classmates still waiting for acceptances, I just hope I have some company!

yes, ACCEPTED!!!!!. Interviewed september 16th, from LA, California, no ties to the state.

very exciting to get accepted! congratulations to you all!

a quick question, nothing serious I hope. but this is for the OOS'ers.

I was wondering how highly you all rated IU in comparison to the rest of the schools you applied to...or at least how you rated IU in comparison to the rest of the schools in the country? I imagine that if you're able to get in here as an out of state student, you are probably able to get into a lotta schools!

Found out I was accepted today after calling the office! I received an email that asked me to sign some "technical standards" because I was accepted and send them into the office. The admissions office said my acceptance letter had been mailed a week ago, but I should be receiving it any time! I'm IS 29P, 3.77 overall, 3.7 science. Go IU!

Congrats to all! My interview (im OOS) was November 11 , so I'm waiting for the Christmas decisions :-( Is there a consensus that decisions, though mailed on the 15th, aren't really received until the 20th or so? Also did anyone who interviewed felt that their interview wasn't...well exceptional. Personally, I felt my interview was pseudo-stressful, I definitely didn't walk out thinking I "conquered" it..but i didn't think I "bombed" it either... Ahhh this waiting is KILLING me!!!!

Waiting a few days after the 15th seems right. I guess that also depends on how far away you are from Indianapolis. I wonder whether decisions are gonna be mailed out during the holidays? I don't think they did that last year but I could be mistaken.

And speaking from personal experience, you would know if you bombed the interview . Good luck!

Thanks for the response. This particular thread has been quite for awhile. Is there anyone else waiting for December notifications? Its nice to share the anxiety w/ other people 🙂

As waitlisted, I hope it changes when they send out December decisions, but I doubt it.

I'm hoping to hear in December as well. Completed app late July, interviewed in October. Average GPA, extensive research/work experience, slightly below average MCAT. Interview went really well. We'll see...

I am patiently waiting for the 15th to come!

PS: Based on your screen-name, I think you might be the person that I met on the plane to Indy?...so we probably interviewed on the same day.

LOL yes its me. I finally figured you out (by your screename) a couple of weeks ago. Congrats on Uniformed Services!!!!!!

Thanks! It was my #1 🙂. Good luck with IU, hopefully you get some good news on the 15th!

Interviewed 11/18...waiting eagerly with fingers crossed for 12/15 :xf:

I received my supplementary packet in late October and just received my interview invite today for 01/13!!! Yay!

Thank you so much. That's really great to hear! I am so excited about it! Was it pretty stress free? Did you have many ethical questions? Was it one interviewer? So many questions. 🙂

Hope you don't mind if I jump in here! Mine was extremely stress free. I did not have any ethical questions, but I think that depends on the interviewer. One of my friends did get a couple of ethical questions. I had two interviewers, but again, it varies. My friend only had one because the other could not make it.

Best of luck to you!!! And CONGRATS!!!!!

I would say stress free, although MY interview session was loaded with questions, which after reading other posts and feedbacks is a little abnormal..? I felt a little stressed after it because there were soo many questions.

My questions were: 1) Why IU 2) Why Medicine 3) What would you do if you failed your biochemistry exam 4) What would you do if you saw a fellow student cheating 5) What are your concerns about medical school 6) What field of medicine are you interested in and why 7) What changes should be made in regards to Health Reform--the "should" part took me by surprise...

I had 2 interviewers and it was open file.

Those are pretty interesting questions, and could potentially make for a good conversation, I suppose... I just hope my interviewer won't be someone with "hostile" attitude. I don't mind the questions, though.

My interview is Jan 13th... Hopefully an acceptance not too long after...😀

Wow! Those are a lot of questions. Are interview days usually pretty crowded? Does anyone know the chances of getting accepted after an interview? When you got your interview schedule via the e-mail invite did it say how many interviewers you would have?
