Yikes I would also like to know your source concerning the lack of acceptances this month. I have several friends waiting with baited breath and would love to relieve them if it were true! Alas! who to believe...

I received my packet from IU on Dec. 19th, so I'd imagine they sent out at least a few this month.

Merry Christmas!

I got a question.
So I interviewed at IU on the 11th of nov. and I still hvnt heard from them yet.
Do you think I should send them my grades from the past semester? Im kinda reluctant to do so since my grades have declined quite a lot.
thanks for replying

This might be better suited for the "chances" threads....?

Those are tough circumstances. The dilemma, i imagine, is that you don't want to give the committee reasons to push your file to the side because of one bad semester...
Did your GPA suffer a lot or just a little bit? probably something you should consider before you make your decision. If you've had a general trend of performing well during your past semesters, then I don't think 1 bad semester should hold you back from sending anything in.

About a 0.9 decrease, which brings me to a 3.51 smth.
But is it necessary that I send in my new transcript before school starts?
Or should I send it only if they ask for it?

Thanks for replying btw

Has anyone received any news from IU yet?
any acceptances/rejections?
Its been a full week since anyone posted here.

looks like only a couple of classes went awry, but the good news is that your GPA is still good. I don't think you have too much to worry about. The school will eventually ask for transcripts, so send it in when they do. That won't be for another couple of months...so again, don't worry about it for now.

this is getting so irritating! i got my packet from IU October 28th and mailed it in that first week of November and STILL no word on when my interview will be. this is frustrating 😡

Have you tried calling or emailing the admissions office? They are pretty good with responding to emails. I think they email you about a month before your interview... Or at least that's how it played out for me.

Happy New Year to you too!

still waiting...

anyone know when admitted students submit their campus preferences? i would really like to hear before that date.

Yikes! I hope we don't have to wait until March for a decision. Has anyone called the office to inquire about notifications in January (assuming you've been waiting for a couple of months i.e interviewed in Oct or Nov)

I just interviewed yesterday, and Indy seems like a great place. I was pretty set on wanting to go to Bloomington and nowhere else, but I am not so sure now... At any rate, I have to get accepted first...😀
BTW, did anyone else have just one interview? I was told that I will have two, but then the second interviewer couldn't show up because of her clinical duties...WTH?!?! I think my one and only interview went well (and long), but not sure what is going to happen with the other interviewer that was supposed to be there...
BTW, interview was really stress-free, for anyone yet to interview. I think mine may not have been a typical case, but at least I didn't hear about any hostile interviewer from other interviewees there. I wasn't even asked some of the remotely tough questions posted on interview feedback section here. It was more questions about personal stuff, and just felt like "I just wanna know your personal background" type conversation.

In fact, my student host told me that when he interviewed at IU, the opening question was, "I don't see why you shouldn't be accepted, so what do you want to talk about?" Gotta love the faculties at IU:laugh:

Lol. I interviewed yesterday and I concur with the above poster. I had a VERY similar interview experience. My questions were mostly about my personal background and childhood. I didn't get any tough questions so I hope they got a good enough picture of me. I did have two interviewers though. The campus is beautiful and I will definitely choose Indianapolis if I get accepted. I am hoping to hear some good news on February 15!!! :xf:

Good luck to all!!

JustLetMeIn good luck! I agree I wouldn't want to study anywhere besides Indy. You (or anyone else for that matter) can let me know if you end up looking for a place in Indy, maybe we can split some referral fees, carpool or something. Almost everyone who applied from my undergrad got an interview and are still waiting to hear ANYthing.

Just want to wish everyone who has been eagerly waiting on the Jan 15 notifications the best of luck. I genuinely hope your dreams, thoughts, and prayers will be answered next week!!! Good Luck guys 🙂

Another round of letters most likely went out today.

Anyone heard anything?

Oct. interview...i'm dyyyyyiiinnngg

I interviewed in nov. and im also waiting for the results..
gd luck to everyone

I hear you, person who got the papers in October and is still waiting on an interview date...that's me too! I called about a month ago and also emailed and both times was just told that they are still scheduling. I'm getting nervous because my fiance is interviewing for a PhD in Anatomy there and we obviously need to be together since we're getting married this summer! I thought it was going really well when i heard from them in October but now I'm at a standstill! I am thinking of calling again tomorrow since it's been another month since I last did. Good to know other people are having to wait a lot too...I thought it was just me!

Still waiting for a decision (interviewed 11-18)...maybe tomorrow?? :xf:

I'll probably have to wait at least another month, but how does IU notify decisions post-interview?

I feel your pain. I actually heard from them last Thursday or Friday saying I got an interview for February 10th. I am instate and like I said got my packed post marked October 28th and sent it in the first week of November. I emailed them a bunch too and my last email I sent the day they sent the invite but I don't think it helped because they just told me to be patient and then sent the email like 5 hours later. Hopefully we still have a shot... based on past threads it looks like they meet in Feb March and randomly in April and then May the waitlist comes out... No clue how much movement there is on waitlist. some guy in like 2007 like half of the waitlist got in ~50/100. just gotta wait and see at this point i guess

I would also like to join the roll call for "waiting since Nov". Even if we don't hear back from IU this month, it appears that the extent of waiting may be 2 months? So although I interviewed Nov 11, perhaps I might hear back February 15? When I called the office to inquire the Secretary told me to call the office after 2 months to check my status. She mentioned that perhaps they HAD sent something but it just got lost... Goodluck to all! Hopefully a 2 month wait doesn't become the norm.

Hey I interviewed in November too... it could have been even the 11th, maybe even earlier. I know a guy who interviewed with us and got accepted in December from the Dec. 15th mail out... He was out of state too... so people are getting accepted, just fyi... I wasn't! LoL... Just waiting now and crossing my fingers. If you have not been rejected they still consider your application...

And how does one know if they have been rejected. Have the notifications been sent yet?

The wait is finally over for me!
I just received my big envelop today.
good luck guys! Hopefully you will receive some good news soon

Thanks!
Im an indiana state resident living in Bloomington rite now. I'll most likely attend since its such a good school.
Gd luck!

for those who got accepted in January and December... do you mind stating your stats?

not sure if this is already common knowledge, but word is that IUSM lost some funding just recently and instead of the projected 360 approx. class size that was forecasted at the interview, they are now cutting 80 spots to 280. this is what recent interviewees said they've been told, who knows the validity.

i did read that they dont have the funding to go to 360. However, i was under the impression that they would stick to the 322 spots they have now and not actually cut another 40 some spots. that would be awful. was it your interviewer that told you that

Yes all higher education in Indiana took a hit, and IUSM took it the hardest. I understand there are some hard feelings between the governor and the dean of IUSM.

Does anybody know what IU's policy is on deferment of matriculation for a year? I never considered deferring before now, but an interesting opportunity has come up...I would email the admissions office, but I don't want to come across as wishy-washy!

Hey! For all of you accepted students that plan to come to IUSM in the Fall, don't forget to join the facebook group (Indiana University School of Medicine Class of 2014).

during the info session at my interview on jan 13th the presenter said that the school will cut back to 280 students this year bc of funds...he went on to say that we are the first group he has presented this new info to as they recently changed the info on the slide. previous groups interviewing were told that IUSM will admit 322 students or w/e ......thats some pretty weak stuff

I interviewed earlier than 1/13 and the presenter also told us about the cutback, so if he told you that you were the first to hear it he wasn't exactly being up front. Not exactly a hugely important detail, but I thought it was worth mentioning.

Hey, Hoosiers

Let's get ready for the Big Ten Season and beat Purdue in 2 ways! Show your support for IU and help save lives at the same time.

This year, Indiana University and Purdue University initiated a community–based, life-saving competition between the Hoosiers and Boilermakers to register the most organ and tissue donors throughout the basketball season.
You can help the Hoosiers beat PU by simply registering or confirming your decision to be an organ and tissue donor at http://www.donatelifeindiana.org Nearly 100,000 Americans are waiting for a life-saving organ transplant and one donor has the potential to save eight lives through organ donation and enhance the lives of 75 others through tissue donation.

You can help us beat them by:
Registering or confirming your decision to be an organ and tissue donor by filling out the commitment form at http://www.donatelifeindiana.org and clicking on the Campus Challenge ad then register as a Hoosier fan.
**Even if you are already a donor on your license, you can still participate**

Forwarding this email to all of your friends, family, co-workers, and fellow IU fans to encourage them to register as an organ and tissue donor!

Show your Hoosier pride!
Become a Hoosier for Life!

Thank you,

organdonor

interview rescheduled for 2/17 (i was sick, unable to attend 1/13). is anybody here applying for the rural med program @ IUSM-TH? i'm surprised there's not a separate thread... but then again, it's a small program.
