Congratulations! In advance of your receipt of our formal letter, please be advised that we are pleased to offer you an acceptance to the Boston University School of Medicine entering class of 2011. The following is the full text of the letter you should receive within the next few days.
I am writing, as Chair of the Committee on Admissions of Boston University School of Medicine, to offer you a place in the class entering in August, 2011. We have an extremely competitive applicant pool this year and we are pleased to recognize the special interests, accomplishments, and experiences you will bring to our community.
This offer of acceptance is a measure of our confidence in you and is contingent upon satisfactory completion of all prerequisites and any program of studies in which you were engaged at the time of application. In addition, you must be able to meet, with or without reasonable accommodation, the Technical Standards, and you must successfully complete a criminal background check conducted under the auspices of the Association of American Medical Colleges.
In order to reserve a place in the class, please provide the following by January 21, 2011:
Log on to MyApplication (
https://myapplication.bumc.bu.edu/2011/) and click on "New Action(s)" in the alert box at the top of the screen. This will take you to a response screen where you can tell us whether or not you wish to accept our offer of admission.
Read and complete the Technical Standards form also located in MyApplication. This is displayed as an alert and will disappear once it has been completed and submitted electronically to our office. Any requested accommodations will be forwarded to our Office of Student Affairs.
We have enclosed some materials that you may find helpful in making your plans for next year. If, however, you have additional questions or concerns, dont hesitate to contact me. Members of the staff in the Office of Admissions and the Office of Student Affairs will also be happy to assist you and you may find it useful to visit our website at
www.bumc.bu.edu.
Please note that AMCAS regulations allow applicants to hold any number of acceptances until May 15, and that our tuition deposit is not due until that date. We plan to hold an Open House on Saturday, April 30, 2011 for those accepted applicants who wish to visit our campus again before making a final decision. We will provide additional information on this program in the spring, and we hope that you and your guest(s) will consider joining us for that day.
If you need information on financial aid, you may contact the Office of Student Financial Services (OSFS) (
www.bumc.bu.edu/osfs/med) or 617-638-5130. In order to complete a formal financial package for you, the OSFS will need the FAFSA (
www.fafsa.gov), CSS/Financial Aid PROFILE (
https://profileonline.collegeboard.com), and the BU application (
www.bumc.bu.edu/osfs/med/applications1112).
It is my privilege, on behalf of the faculty and students of Boston University School of Medicine, to welcome you to our school. Please accept my personal congratulations and best wishes as you begin the grand adventure of a career in medicine.
Sincerely,
Robert A. Witzburg, M.D.
