I think I am probably a better fit for the UP than the CP anyway, so I guess the rejection to CCLCM was just as well. Anyway, this just about describes me right now:



Edit: Lack of Name, I can say with 99% certainty that you were invited to an interview. When I was rejected from CCLCM last week, I got no e-mail. When I was invited to interview for the University Program today, I got the status change e-mail I think you're referring to. That's odd that it isn't showing though... try reloading the page maybe? Mine actually didn't show until I logged out and in again.

Edit #2: Apparently now status updates are being sent for rejections too... so I was wrong. Good luck everyone!

you know how case says they prefer if you submit their secondary within 2 weeks of receiving it...what if u submitted like a month later? does it matter? (besides the fact that their may be less spots available for interview)

There is mention of it in the initial contact email, just that admissions are rolling and it is in your best interest to return it in 2 weeks. I returned it on the 15th day haha

If you apply to the College track, the research essay actually replaces the UP scholarly essay. So no need to copy, just use your College program essay!

I think it is. Myuu, make sure you do post some fall pics. October is really nice here. Unfortunately, I'm going to miss it this year. 🙁

Could you talk more about the societies the students are assigned to? vc7777 mentioned it many, many posts ago.

This is for UP students only. There are four societies, each named after a famous physician. The dean heading each society advises the students and is involved with administrative type things like doing the Dean's Letter that is part of a student's residency app.

CCLCM functions like its own society, with Dean Franco as our dean. (She's the CCLCM student dean as well as the CCLCM admissions dean.)

Also, clinical experience starts the first year?! 😀 (for CCLCM) that's not a common thing for med school, is it?

I think a lot of schools have some type of clinical exposure in the first year. Myuu can tell you more about that RAMP thing the UP students do.

CCLCM does have a lot more clinical experience for first years than many other schools. Starting in late September of your first year, you will have a half day of clinic every other week in an outpatient internal medicine clinic. This is a real clinic where you're seeing real patients, not standardized patients. On the weeks in between when you don't go to clinic, you will have a half day of physical diagnosis class, where you learn the history and physical skills using standardized patients. So, for example, you learn how to do a neuro exam on standardized patients one week, and then the next week, you go to clinic where you practice doing a neuro exam on real patients.

In case anyone doesn't know, standardized patients are actors who are hired to pretend to be patients. Most if not all medical schools use them to teach communication and clinical skills.

One more thing: for those of you who are interviewing on Monday Sept. 13, I will be your humble tour guide. 🙂

I was complete 8/4 and notified today via email. I actually got rejected from the CP without any email notification so I was a little worried when I saw they had updated my status. BUT YAY

Well I think the question is referencing how their students target areas academically so they reflect and improve the following year. I don't think physical aspects are exactly what they mean but I could be wrong.

While I was able to find a host for my CCLCM interview, I haven't been able to find a list of student hosts for my UP interview. I looked at the list of 3rd and 4th years, but nobody specifically offers hosting, and most specify that they are unable to host. Anyone know where there might be more information on student hosting for this program. Thanks!

a few questions

1) I stupidly only clicked to apply to the college track but wanted to apply to both the college and university track. what do i do?

2) If i do manage to get it switched, do i have to write the essay unique to the university track? it's really similar to the one required by the college track, so does if you apply to both, do you have to fill out the university track essay?

3) this question might not matter if i am able to add on to the university program, but when i submitted my supplementary app, I already had all my documents in, etc, but it still said my application wasn't complete. Most school that I have applied to update it by the next day etc with a status change on the site and an email. I got neither from Case. I had a fee waiver and never had to click submit payment, so the process kinda ended abruptly. I was wondering if I had to do something else.

It is inevitable, you are now part of the eggplant collective. My interview day, I ended up eating (the most amazingly delicious) eggplant parmesean for dinner in Little Italy b/c one of the M1s recommended it. Now that I think of it, Myuu, is she one of ussssss? 0_o I have yet to identify the rest of the peeps here! >_<

I've yet to hear from this school (maybe my essays really sucked? or i'm just being impatient) but you all seem like a fun and crazy bunch. I'd love to interview here just to try to incorporate eggplant into as many conversations as possible.

I know CP is PBL--do you still get big note packets/syllabi to study from in addition to your PBL stuff? I'd really like to lean more about how the basic sci part of the curriculum works.
UP--are lectures mandatory? Are lectures recorded? Good note packets?
