And in the interest of being at least peripherally relevant, I'm glad you guys are so pumped for second look. It's going to be a great weekend! (It always is!)
 
What typically happens the first day of school? Is it just an orientation of the school for that July 7th and 8th and then lectures start July 11th?

I'm excited to get started!

:soexcited: On that note, what should I pack for second look? The second look packet says that the alumni dinners are "dressy"/casual, which I'm guessing means dress/skirt or khakis for the ladiezzzzz. What about the welcome reception and Saturday during the day? Should I plan on any impromptu pool parties? I MUST KNOW.

Looking into living arrangements for next year, when I was there for interview, I know a lot of students live in the Waldorf building. But where are some other places that students tend to live? And how do first years normally find roommates?

People live all over the place. I live like 15 mins east, down Mayfield - it usually is 20-25 mins for me to be sitting in my seat. But I also have a 3 story house with 2 car garage for hubby/me for almost exactly what Myuu pays for her tiny studio. Tho hers has heat/elec/etc included AND is right there on campus, basically.....so it's give and take.

I had a great response from a classmate about living on the West Side. I'll post info about it here soon.

Holy goodness!! I'm so jealous. That's amazing. He's right up there with Jane Austen for me. That man started my love affair with MRSA. Complications was my beach reading 🙂

Anything interesting going on on Friday? We might be in town (from far away) that day. I just couldn't wait the extra week for CP second look 😍
 
O - some of my friends and I are also going to the Atul Gawande talk tomorrow! Excited 😀

As for attire for second look, I am not sure. I will be wearing nice pants and a blouse... I would stay away from plunging necklines or skin-tight pleather. There will be a lot of walking around mingling with deans and such.

In undergrad I wrote/delivered a pirates vs. ninjas speech in the manner of Cicero for a Latin class.
 
I have to say...that is pretty awesome.

On another note, has anyone received an award letter yet? or had their iapply Fin Aid marked as complete. I have the taxes/W-2s checked, but neither the FASFA nor NeedAccess have been marked complete even though it's been about a week. I certainly don't want to call and be annoying, but obviously I don't want something to be delayed either. Thoughts?

Did you just stick copies of your tax returns/W-2s in an envelope and mail them to the financial aid office? I need to send those in but I'm not sure how to do it.

Yup. Just mailed them to the Financial Aid Office...if the check boxes don't lie...then it worked!
 
I look forward to seeing this speech! Of course, we know which way the balance has to go. I'm just saying. But the battle is always interesting!

Get me off the waiting list and I'll ad to your diversity!😀 That way you'll not only have someone who is ugly, but also someone from an all but extinct religion! What could possibly be better than that?:laugh:
 
Withdrew from the 'on hold' pool today. I have a few other choices I liked more. Hopefully getting my app out of the pool helps things move a little faster for someone else.

Haha, no my avatar is my car that I drift-- a Nissan 240sx. I loved Knight Rider as a kid though, so Kit is a fine comparison 🙂

Ahh, drift, good luck wherever you go!

I would have liked to talk cars with you. 🙁 I saw your Datsun, and figured it was you driving. My current car was modified by the previous owner for SCCA autocross. My last one is now being modified into an open-class ice-racer. 👍
 
^That's fantastic! I drive at a few autox events around here, but my passion still lies in drifting and potentially one day moving up to actual track racing, but that's a far away dream.

Case is full of such wonderful people 🙂

Awesome. Do they do that mostly as a rally, or as time trials? Either way would be so fun!!! A lot like driving home last night, really...
 
Dayum, 4 motorsports enthusiasts in one thread. I'm too poor to race for real, so I just have to stick with Gran Turismo 5.
 
Hey guys- question about the CP revisit. When they say "business" attire, I'm taking that they mean standard interview clothing (suits for guys)? What about for Friday?

Also, if anyone is flying in on Thursday and would like to split a cab, PM me! Can't wait to meet you all this week!

If it says just "business" attire, that does indeed mean a suit. You could probably get away with leaving out the jacket, but that is technically the higher end of "business casual" or "smart business casual." I got the feeling that CP students were held in high regard as colleagues and such that it might be a good idea to wear a suit.

But I got rejected from CP so what do I know? haha.

Don't wear a suit. Dress shirt +/- tie for guys. I went without a tie, personally. No one will notice and no one will care. You're already admitted. Just don't make a fool of yourself.

I sent mine in about a month ago as well and the check boxes aren't checked yet. Maybe they wait until the deadline to start processing those? My Need Access box has not been checked either, you?

Haha, I should have said that a friend bought my last one and is converting for ice racing. They race as a group on the ice. He's insane, btw.
 
So should we hear about the waitlist creation this week? Late March right?
 
You're right, it was earlier than this last year! I am not sure when it will happen, since I'm not on the inside of such things. I shot Christian an email, but he's out of the office for a few days. They generally don't advertise these things ahead of time, though. Sorry in advance if it turns out to not be this week, if I got peoples' hopes up!

And vc77777777 from whence did the "MS" come? This is new info to me!

Yeah, I decided to get a Masters in Clinical Research with my 5th year. I decided against the Masters in Biomedical engineering. CRSP - Clinical Research Scholars Program is taught at the Clinic. It's free, and meshes well with my career goals. 🙂
 
I asked Christian, and the wait list will not come out this week. He is very sorry that there's been an unforeseen delay. I'll let you know if they give me a specific date.

It seems that things are a little different each year, so I'm sorry if I made it sound like there's a for-sure mid-March wait list created! But don't worry, guys, it won't be very long. Hang tight! :luck:
