Haha, I literally could not escape the interview closet. I thought the doors were the kind that slide...my interviewer had to stand up and push it for me. Maybe that's why I was waitlisted? 😉

What closet? I remember a small coat closet, but it was already open when I loaded my overcoat into it.

No.

Lol, yea they were tiny and had a nice reverb.

My interview ran over and another interviewer started pounding on the door while I was talking. For a second there, I thought it was the warden coming to inspect my cell. Also, I've never focused so intently on not looking stupid whilst opening a door.

Does anyone have a rough breakdown of what percentage of interviewees are accepted outright, waitlisted, and rejected? Or does anyone know the size of the waitlist in past years?

For the guys: bonus points if you got the door to the men's bathroom open in one try ; )

Ok thanks. DO they email or snail mail rejections?
Email. I remember them saying that waitlists and acceptances will be followed up by snail mail, while rejections are email only. Good luck!

I might be mistaken, but I thought rejections were by snail mail only.

For those who were accepted- did you receive any confirmation that they received your letter to reserve your spot in the entering 2011 class?

oops wrong thread!

interview invite this past friday 2/11.

submitted 9/15
marked complete 10/18

stats and stuff on mdapplicants

a note on interviews:
sinai does 4 interview categories: interview immediately, interview early, interview late, do not interview.

im guessing anyone interviewing now is in the interview late category 😕

Does anyone know what kind of information is in the packet that comes 2-3 weeks after the email that notifies you that you've been waitlisted?

it's just one sheet of paper that says you've been waitlisted, please send this back signed if you would like to remain on the waitlist. pretttyyy depressing 🙁

Interview invite today for early March! Really excited about visiting the school.

Complete back in mid-October, so I was about to give up hope here.

Wiingy, what are your stats? If you don't mind me asking... also, what do your ECs look like?

I'm not sure if there are any Sinai students around to answer this - but is Sinai true P/F, or does it have internal rankings like Cornell even though they are also P/F now?

Or is Cornell just an interesting P/F school that does internal rankings?

Thanks!

Sinai is true P/F.

Hi,

For those of you whose applications became complete some time ago, did you receive an email notification that your application was complete or a letter by mail? I didn't receive either; however, my LORs are marked complete on the tracking site. Am I to take that to mean that my application is complete? I'm just concerned because I have not heard anything from the school yet.

Thanks!

I've heard Mt. S doesn't send pre-interview rejections, but does anybody know when they stop sending interview invites? I haven't heard anything from them and at this point I've kind of stopped expecting to. But it would be nice to know if/when I should totally count them out as a possibility.😕

I got an interview invite yesterday (literally 4 hours after sending an application update - which could have been coincidence). So they are still active

Thanks for the insight. I guess I'll keep them in the back of my mind throughout March.

Tiramisu - I had the same issue.. my application had been complete for months and I had not heard anything, so I called. It turns out one of my letters had been duplicated in the system and they had placed my application on hold without notifying me. They were great about fixing the issue, and I had an interview invitation within a few weeks. I would definitely recommend calling..

For those who are waitlisted / generally savvy about this, where would be the best place for me to send my letter of interest. Straight through the admissions@mssmetc email address. Snail mailed? Does anyone know where I can find anyone's specific email or mailing address (does not appear to be listed online). To whom should I address the letter? Thanks for your help, folks. Cheers.

Wait, had your letters of recommendation box been marked complete on the Embark website? My letters have been marked complete for some time, but there is some weird "Recommendations, AMCAS" box on the actual letters page that is still unchecked as not received - I had called earlier in the cycle and was told not to change anything on that page... it's pretty late in the cycle now to change anything, but I hope this isn't the same situation...

I asked this same question on this thread a while ago and got nothin :-(. Buuut I originally sent an L.O.I to Jessica Maysonet and she didn't respond to confirm, so I sent one to Dean Valerie Parkas and she got back to me really quickly and ccd me to another dean for any questions I had about the school. I'd send the L.O.I/update to her via email if I were you.

[email protected]

That's her email address. Good luck, I'm definitely hoping for mount sinai to pick me up off the waitlist too.

(I posted her email address here on the forum instead of in a pm because you can find it via google and I don't think it's too big a deal)

if i remember from the interview, the last 2 days for notifications (accept/waitlist/reject) are march 11th and april 1st. they usually interview 800-900 applicants of 5000~, and send 300 acceptances they said (idk how this compares to the msar):xf:.

I just sent mine to the Admissions Office and it got there (snail mail). I figured if I send an e-mail, it may or may not get read etc... But if I send it to the admissions office I know they will be adding it to my file. They were saying that sending it to the general MSSM admissions office will get it added to your file (email or snail mail) so you will be fine no matter what.

I called and asked if they preferred snail mail or email, and they said they preferred email....but I'm sure it doesn't actually matter. maybe they prefer email so they can better ignore my letters lol

anyways, agreed with CCing to Valerie. she responded within 10 minutes with a thank you, so even if she didn't really read it, it's still nice to know the email didn't disappear into thin air. she was fantastic and energetic during the interview day........is it bad I want to go here just because she was so cool?

another general waitlist question for anyone that knows: some people suggest to call the admissions office every week or two weeks to let them know that you're still interested.

this sounds weird to me; what do you SAY?? ask if the waitlist has moved? everyone has indicated the waitlist doesn't move at MSSM until May 15th. Or is it really just "hi my name is blah blah blah I'm still interested in your school, thanks bye!" seems awkward!

At the interview, I believe I remember one of the admissions people saying that while they like updates and letters notifying them of continued interest, excessive contact with their office would not necessarily help one's cause...

yeah, makes sense. always wondered why people would call so much, especially when a "hi" to the admissions staff likely won't make it to the committee meeting about who to pick off of waitlists.

I'll stick to the occasional update letter and pray :xf:

i know merit aid is rare, but anyone know when info for this goes out?

I believe you would be told in your financial aid package. Did you get all your stuff in?

all of what stuff lol?

i still need to do the drug test if thats what you are asking

Sorry. Sometimes I think people can read my mind...

I meant FASFA and Need Assistance applications. Only after those forms are submitted will you be considered for merit aid... because even merit aid is "need based", I believe...

Anyone know when the next committee meeting is? Interviewed early February, would love to hear something soon.

I interviewed the first week of February as well :xf:

Hope we hear soon!

Same here. If you haven't heard anything from a school, is it a good idea to send an email expressing interest in the school w/o having been placed on their waitlist?

thanks!

just got the waitlist email. interviewed 2/9. Good luck to everyone who hasn't heard back yet!

Waitlisted as well, I was really hoping for good news from Sinai...
